So, I just reviewed The Janus Affair, and I might add enjoyed the steampunk read...learned much more of our adventurous duo. I just posted my review, and want share this one with another.

ReplyDeleteI enjoy the re-imagination of the past that steampunk gives. I've always enjoyed the work of Jules Verne and enjoy the costuming and gadgetry that goes with the steampunk culture.

ReplyDeleteI think I like steampunk because of the technology added into worlds that wouldn't otherwise have it and what kind of changes that means for it.

When it's done well, I love the "adventuresome" quality of it--reminds me of Indiana Jones for some reason. When it doesn't get bogged down in the technical details of the gadgetry, it can do some really fantastical and innovative things. I love the thought process behind some of the alternate histories!
