New Year Resolutions 2018 (2107 Results)

Photo By: Melissa @ Spellbound in a Flash (Me)

Happy New Year!! Here we are at the tip of a new mountain, ready to climb our way through to the other end. A new year to accomplish our dreams.

How did you do compared to last years resolutions? And what do you have in store for the new year?

I'm going to copy last years resolutions here and type in blue how I did. *cringe* Lets see...

1)  Exercise more. I was content with maintaining my weight last year, at least not gaining any more. Which I did. Now, this year, I'd like to lose some weight. Not much, but some. I'm still going to the gym two days a week to workout with weights. But I'd like to add some treadmill time at least three more days a week.
Until August I was exercising about three times a week. I was doing well. Then life gets a little distracting. We had lots going on. As for losing weight... It didn't happen. I can't seem to lose weight. Although I've started on Vitamin D and Calcium, so maybe that will help with this year and losing weight.

2)  Write/edit through the year. I know they say write daily, but I feel as I get stressed when I write daily. It's like my brain needs to digest and move on. So, I'm going to get back to what helped keep me moving best in the past, writing every other day. (This, of course, will then take a back seat when I have editing jobs, which will be done daily.) Learn more details on what I'll be working on in my Resolutions post at Challenged Writers blog and how I did through the year.
I did well for several months. I accomplished a lot of re-writes, but I didn't get to carry through for the whole year. You can click the link to see my results at Challenged Writers.

I've been thinking. I don't know if there is someone out there in the same boat as me with writing that wouldn't mind connecting and helping each other stay on track. We can check in on each other, motivate, and chat a couple times a week via Twitter, Facebook, email, or some sort of social media.
And I'm still looking for a writing buddy, if you are up for it.

3)  Blog and blog visit every other day. This goes hand in hand with my writing. On the off days of writing, I'll be blog visiting.
This didn't happen. I've been struggling with getting on regularly, and it frustrates me. I need to figure out a schedule that works.

4)  Post pictures at Spellbound in a Flash weekly. You remember this site right? I started it to share my love for photography. I've been so crazy busy with life and holidays that I haven't posted. (I have several posts to do!) I want to do a post a week, or every other week, of images I've recently taken or use old images to share.
I did start doing this until about October. That's when life got moving quicker with holidays.

So,  my resolutions seem to start out good and go for a few months, but I still have struggling areas. I'm going to have to work on that this year.

2018 Resolutions:

Much of these are going to be similar. I need to figure out how to juggle things better.

1) Return to exercising weekly - I want to exercise at least three times a week.

2) Work on writing/re-writes - I want to get more work done in my writing, so I've created a whole resolution post with more details of my plans over at Challenged Writers.

3) Blog and visit blogs at least twice a week - I've got a lot on my plate with all the things I want to do, so I'm planning on blog visiting at least twice a week. This leaves an opening for more days.

4) Post weekly at Spellbound in a Flash - I've been taking photos and learning different settings. I would like to share my results more often on my photo blog.

I know the resolutions sound broad but I think that will help me feel as though I'm not doing what I want and leaves me room to shift things to what works.

Have you created a new year resolution?

New Years Resolutions: Bookish Style 2012

2012 is so close!

I did this last year, and thought I'd do again this year...
Bookish New Years Resolutions

What's on my list?
1.)  Re-write and Edit that monstrosity I wrote in November during Nanowrimo.
2.)  Write more.  I've been doing Flash Fiction Fridays, I want to keep going with these, and I want to do Nanowrimo again.  I got ideas bouncing around so I want to explore them.  I'm thinking about taking the 10 months prior to sketch out ideas to write the next story for Nanowrimo 2012.
3.)  Read more... this is a tough one as I'm a slow reader, but I want to try to bump my reading speed some.  I read 68 books here in 2011.  I want to hit 70 in 2012.
4.)  Visit Barnes & Nobles forums more.  They are the ones who got me started into the Internet world, and I miss my friends there.  I want to get back there and chat with them again.  You can join me, and others, also...any genre you want they have!
5.)  Try to get back to some series I've started and loved, but still have the next book (or two) sitting here.
6.)  I need to pace myself and slow back on review books I'm accepting.  This is a hard one for me, as many of you know I like reading the new authors and books but I got myself behind in 2011, so I'm slowing down this year on review books.  Unless I find someone to review with me, here at My World...that's always a thought. :) I'm keeping with the authors I've already done in the past, as I have to follow through with their amazing series, but going to take it easy on the new books coming in.  For me and the authors too.  I'm trying to come up with a review policy page that will explain this a little better.

I'm a little less on the resolution end, as I do have plans for the new year and these ones are time consuming.

What about you?  Any New Years Resolutions?

New Years Resolution Closeout for 2011

So we are coming to the close of 2011.  Do you remember that post about a year ago, you know the one with us making Bookish Resolutions?  How did you do with those?

I had 5 resolutions on my list.  Did I meet them all?  Lets see...

 1.  I have an idea for a new meme. I just need to iron out the details some and see if it will fly or dive. Never know until you try it out, right?  I did start a new meme, or 2!  Throwback Thursday and Who? What? Where?  So I did better than I thought! :D
  2.  To try to read more books than this year.  Thus far this year I've read 55 books and hope to get two more in.  So, I would like to try to read faster next year.  I did! As according to Goodreads I read 67 books in 2011.  Now I know I cheated a little with the shorter reads, but hey they are books too!
  3.  Try to do more interviews with authors. I like doing them and getting to know more authors, new and old.  I did start doing my guest posts and author interviews this year.  I've tried to be bolder in asking, and they said yes! :D If I could read a little faster this year, I'd really like to get more authors around.  See the thing is I like to have authors of books I've read and enjoyed to share more with you.  We will see. :)
  4.  Volunteer and/or offer to do giveaways more often. They are so fun to host!  I started to get more into giveaways before November with Nanowrimo, and have one going until the Jan. 1, 2012.  They are always fun to do and share books I've loved!
  5.  I want to write more this year now that things should be settling down, and dedicate one month this year to writing instead of reading.  That way more time can go to writing.  I DID IT! Yes, you see my winner button there on the side bar, so I accomplished this one.  This was the one that had me very worried, but I got through!

I got through better than expected when I made these last year!  I'm thrilled!  I was a little nervous at making this list if I would be able to pull through, and I did!  Yeah!

How about you?  How did you do with the New Years Resolutions in 2011?  I know things jump tracks on you when you aren't looking, so it's okay if that happened.

Share in the comments how you did. Or Link your Resolved Resolutions post here:

To The New Year!

New Years Resolutions...
Book Style that is.

I was chatting on twitter with a great friend, Jackie of My Ever Expanding Library, of things we want to do.  In the chat I said, "to the new year" and got the idea to post this Resolutions for 2011, book style.

So, what are some of my Resolutions?
  1.  I have an idea for a new meme. I just need to iron out the details some and see if it will fly or dive. Never know until you try it out, right?
  2.  To try to read more books than this year.  Thus far this year I've read 55 books and hope to get two more in.  So, I would like to try to read faster next year.
  3.  Try to do more interviews with authors. I like doing them and getting to know more authors, new and old.
  4.  Volunteer and/or offer to do giveaways more often. They are so fun to host!
  5.  I want to write more this year now that things should be settling down, and dedicate one month this year to writing instead of reading.  That way more time can go to writing.

Oh yes, there are loads of Resolutions I can come up with for personal and at home.  But I thought this would be neat to do then come back next year around this time to see if I was able to do any of these Resolutions.  Even the small ones.  Maybe if I start small I can exceed my own expectations. ;) And there is always time to add to the list, until the end of the year anyway.  I can add in the comments below.

What are your Bookish Style, New Years Resolutions?

Best of luck to you in the New Year.

Would you like to post your New Years Resolutions too?
