Favorite Fictional Character (32)

This week I was asked by a great friend here in the blogging world to guest post on his blog for his meme Favorite Fictional Character.  Ryan at Wordsmithonia.

Ryan is really the reason I got out here in the blogosphere, and I really love doing this meme (yes, I've been bad and not done it in quite some time) I couldn't say no.  I just had to jump in to join the fun with him.

So what character did I pick this time?  Well, just a little hint and it has something to do with steampunk...

Now jump over to Ryan's blog Wordsmithonia to see how I picked!

Favorite Fictional Character (31)

Favorite Fictional Character
Hosted by Ryan at Wordsmithonia - http://wordsmithonia.blogspot.com/

My pick this week is the Aunt of a main character.  I read the first two books of the World Weaver series thus far, I've got the third here on my shelf to read and review - soon.  Yes, this series is a Young Adult series and I would suggest it for Young Readers of ten or eleven and younger as well.

The Character this week is Thea's Aunt Zoe.  In this world author Alma Alexander has created magic is a given.  A norm.  Even expected of everyone.  Zoe is the fun, laid-back Aunt.  She can smell and sense different things, feelings, and such in peculiar ways.  Zoe can smell when someone is angry, or can tell when the wind is blue.  But she is fun.

We meet Zoe in the first book, Gift of the Unmage but really get to see her more in the second book Spellspam.  She is the caring Aunt.  The Aunt that can be fun and yet watch out for you.  The kind of Aunt you could trust and talk to, and not get the motherly over protectiveness.  She even had a moment where she got affected by the spellspam and reacted as she was suppose too (according to the spells expected reactions).  But then she was fun after she was to be cured I wondered if maybe there was more to it.

Zoe is a secondary character in the books.  But I enjoyed when she was on the page.

Favorite Fictional Character (30)

I have to pick one character that really has made me laugh while reading her stories.  Jane True by Nicole Peeler.  Our first introduction was made in Tempest Rising, then again in Tracking the Tempest.

Jane is a selkie, or half selkie.  Her mother was found wandering through the city buck naked.  Her father fell in love with her afterward.  Then came Jane.  Jane is a strong swimmer and bears the burden of guilt for her boyfriend from high school (that's all I'll say on that).

Jane is one the home town stares, points, and gossips about due to her past.  But Jane having the strong will she does, pulls through stays in her home and doesn't want to leave it.  She cares for her ill father, making sure he is loved, feed, and takes his pills.  But even though Jane is a strong character to keep going and get through the tough stuff, she has a great sense of humor.  I think this is part in what has helped Jane stay 'sane' per say with all that has happened to her in her life... her mother up and leaving without a trace and with her boyfriend from high school.  I love the quick one liners she comes up with in any situation.  She puts reality into laughter and great jokes, snarky.    Jane has wonderful secondary characters in which her humor and snark play off of nicely.  They are wonderful characters for Jane and her strengths.

Even the crazy experiences she has are fun to read.  There where many times what happened to her or around her made me laugh just as much as her comments.  Then, Jane does get herself into some sticky situations... that end in a joke.

Do you want to learn more about Jane True?  Check out her series by Nicole Peeler.  Nicole's site is HERE.  Two books about Jane's adventures are out and the third will be out January 2011.

Favorite Fictional Character (29)

Meme Sponsored and hosted by the creative mind of Ryan at Wordsmithonia.

My character this week is from an Urban Fantasy book I enjoyed.  She has a touch of necromancy powers to her, so yes in other words she sees dead people...

Now, many of the readers will tell you about her co-star in the book.  He is a delicious sounding vampire, but she is the main character and is a great one at that.  The character I am talking about is Rhiannon from Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between by J.A. Saare.

Rhiannon is one to take the bull by the horns and wrestle it down.  Okay so that may be a little bit much.  But she will definitely tell you like it is, and use some colorful flavor with that.  She is a tough girl.  Ready to bounce out any trouble at the bar she works in and will even hustle you for some money at pool.  She is a strong character to stand up to the "bad" guys.

She did have a rough childhood and even though this makes for a hard time with relationships she still cares for others and tries for herself.  She does finally find that one to share with and who loves her.  Even if he is a gorgeous few hundred year old vampire.  But, then there is the end to this first book that leaves you wanting more...

But I do enjoy the strong headed tell-it-as-it-is with flavor women here.

Favorite Fictional Character (28)

Meme Sponsored and hosted by the creative mind of Ryan at Wordsmithonia.

I have not been doing this post as often as I really want to, and I am sorry for that.  It is not for the shortage of characters I enjoy, but more of a time thing by Wednesday anymore.

I have once again been reviewing my books as I tote them up for just a short time.  And there are a few books to be coming out in the next few months that I am looking forward to.  But, as I looked through a few I started refreshing myself with the characters again in anticipation of the new releases to come.  One book due out in October is Wintertide the fifth book in the series by Michael J. Sullivan.  So I started thinking on these characters again...

Yes, we have our obvious favorites the thief and his mercenary partner.  I have already mentioned Princess Arista in the past.  But, I have a character that has taken me a little by surprise... Thrace or Modina.  Thrace is her name given by her parents.  Modina is the name given when she is adapted to be the Queen.

Thrace started as a strong willed young woman on a mission to find the two who are well known and could help her, back at her home with a particular creature no one can kill.  She finds herself in a little predicament, which she is saved from.  Thrace has goes through some tough times and just when you think this one will break her, she holds her head up and keeps going.  Then the time you think she can get through this one just like the other rest...she hits rock bottom.  And a hard rock bottom at that.  It all finally catches up with her.

At this dark hole she falls in she is elevated to one of the highest powers she or anyone could be.  Thanks to some great secondary characters she is helped to move past these tradgic events and starts to come back to the smart character she is.

Thrace has much knowledge to share with us fore others thought she didn't know she heard and understood what was happening.  This girl is one to pay attention to in the future.  She will be able to help make things happen.

Thrace does not appear in the first book ~ The Crown Conspiracy, but she makes her debut the second book ~ Avempartha.

Favorite Fictional Character (27)

Meme Sponsored and hosted by the creative mind of Ryan at Wordsmithonia.

I have been looking through my books as I have started to tote them up for a short time.  And Just about every series or book I have read have wonderful characters I have enjoyed reading.

I have a new series I started this year, which only the first book is out but I am looking forward to reading more of the series... A Shadow's Son by Jon Sprunk.

I enjoyed reading of Caim.  Caim is the main character, and an assassin in this book.  He is rather good at what he does, one of THE best.  As I read the book I started to see Caim really isn't as ruthless as thought an assassin would be.  He is simply just doing a job, in which he is paid for.  He even thinks he is doing something to help people.

But there are a few things that make Caim even more special.  First is his close friend, whom no one else hears or sees ~ Kit.  Kit is a special character in herself and I don't want to give anything away on her, so you will have to read the book.  But Caim also has some wonderous and unusual abilities.  He is in some way affiliated with the dark, or shadows.  Caim has an ability to become part of them, and no one will see him ~ hide in the shadows.  As well as Caim has amazing abilities that come to the surface in this book.

I look forward to reading more of Caim and learning more of his heritage and seeing what all he is capable to do as he learns more.

Favorite Fictional Character (26)

Meme sponsored and hosted by the creative mind of Ryan at Wordsmithonia.

I just started the second book in a fantasy trilogy.  And doing so reminded me how much I loved one of the male characters... Christopher Garron.  I met Christopher first in The Poison Throne and now again in The Crowded Shadows.

So he sounds like a nice looking young man, tall, thin, and long black hair.  But there is more than that to his character.  He is a ladies man for sure.  He has a smile when used makes the women think they are something special.  But, Christopher also has a great sense of humor and no matter how ugly things get he holds this humor to lightens any mood.  There is a dark side to Christopher as well... don't mess with the ones he loves or he could take your head off and not think twice about it.  I love that he is so loyal to his friends.

Christopher is the best friend to the bastard - now named - Prince Razi, and in being such a close friend he has to attend some parties and such.  But as much of a front as he puts up, he is not as educated on the political ways of the sly torments and manipulations.  But he makes it through with the help of friends, his quick learning, and quickness to think on his feet.  But being a close friend to an unwanted named Prince could be dangerous too.  Christopher takes an ugly beating in order to upset the Prince and get him to do as his father wants him to.

In the end, I saw Christopher more than the character he plays around the beautiful women, or to get his way.  Christopher is a loyal friend who would die to protect those who mean more to him than the world.  He is also a decent young man of a potential love for another character in the book.  And now that I am getting further into The Crowded Shadows, I am loving Christopher even more... history and all.

Favorite Fictional Character (25)

Meme sponsored and hosted by the creative mind of Ryan at Wordsmithonia.

As I mentioned on my last FFC there are some books that have more than one Favorite Fictional Character for me.  And I want to keep them separate for each character to be spotlighted.

Well, I have realized I like showcasing strong characters I see something of what I would like to have in me.  A strength to fight back and be strong for others.  And again I am going down that road...

The last FFC was of Terelle from The Last Stormlord, here.  Terelle was a favorite character for her ability and strength she possessed.  The next character is also from The Last Stormlord, although not a major major character - yet (I have a feeling she will make a lot more appearances in the future books).

Not only is this character another strong women, but I seemed to be able to relate to her on many levels - almost like she was me.  I remember feeling some of the feelings she had, and even still do.  Ryka is not the perfect beauty for all.  But she is very human and relatable to me.  Ryka has bad eyes and squints to see, even when she was young she would trip as she walked.  She works with ink, translating documents.  And she was always tall with long legs.  The other kids when she was younger use to taunt her with names and such.  I had many of these same troubles growing up.  Tall with long legs not yet appreciated, and the eye sight well... it still isn't any better but thank goodness for contacts. :)  And she is what the other girls always called plain.  I am the same way, minimal makeup for me.

Ryka is a strong character as well.  She is one of those female characters that will go into the fight and not be asked to help.  And on the flip side of the coin you can't tell her not to help, she will do as she wants.  She knows what she wants and what she can do.

But the funny thing is the one man she loves, who doesn't know so, is who she has to marry - and he loves her as well, but she doesn't know it.  They both have water abilities and it is hoped that they will produce a stormlord.  The great part about this relationship is Kaneth always gets tongue tied and sticks his foot in his mouth around Ryka.  She is always able to put him in his place, but what he wants to say comes out sooo wrong.  They seem to be complete opposites but they really are a great pair in this book.

Ryka and Kaneth start to have important positions in the book, and I am really looking forward to them coming back in the next... I hope.

Favorite Fictional Character (24)

Meme sponsored and thanks to the creative mind of Ryan at Wordsmithonia.

I have read many great books lately with great and strong characters.  Some books even have more than one FFC for me, but I will stick to one in the post and post another FFC later with the other character.

This week I am picking a character by the name of Terelle.  Terelle is one of the point of views you read from in the book Stormlord by Glenda Larke.  I'm not sure if this is her on the cover of book 2, Stormlord Rising - it could be her or one other character, at this point in the read.  Terelle lives in a world where water is limited and valued to the last drop.  People who have rights get a jar of water as scheduled, but those who own nothing and no rights have to work for money or privileges from others for water.  She is sold by her father to a snuggery.  A snuggery is a place of higher stature than the street women, but a place for men to go at the pleasure of a womens presence.

Terelle, even as a child when the story starts, has a strong will.  She is determined to not live her life as a women of a Snuggery.  She needs to find a way to get out of the house before she blossoms, which could be any time.  Terelle has a desire to be a dancer and loves making up routines to music.  This area is one she ventures out to seek advice in.  She is goes out in search of the famous dancer who lives a few levels up from her.  Terelle manages to talk her way in to seeing the dancer who takes no visitors, according to the man servant at the door.  The dancer even starts to care for Terelle as she tells her story.  But, unfortunately the professional dancer doesn't feel Terelle will be able to make a living as a dancer, and as well she may have to do things she is not wanting to do to further her career.

Terelle blossoms into a young woman before she finds a way to leave the care of the Snuggery, since the price is high to pay off her debt of living there and helping in the kitchen - the price of water used.  So, Terelle runs away to the lower level to try to hide out.  Terelle finds a old man, or maybe he finds her... to take her on as an apprentice for his water paintings.

In the end, Terelle realizes she has a strong power with water that she can use.  She finds a way to free herself from the hold her master has on her.  But in all she learns more of her family, more she never would have thought of, and that there is more for her to do in life which is very important.

This is only the first book of the series and I loved all the characters.  I feel Terelle is going to be a very vital piece of the puzzle in the water problems - even more than what she needs to do in regard to her family.  I think Shale and Terelle can accomplish a lot, together.

(If you would like to read my review of Stormlord by Glenda Larke, click here.)  Book 2, Stormlord Rising is due out August 1, 2010.

Favorite Fictional Character (23)

Thanks to the creative mind of Ryan at Wordsmithonia.

My favorite fictional character this week is from a series currently still being released.  We are currently waiting for book three, Antiphon, to come out.  The the author is Ken Scholes and the publishing company is Tor.  The series as actually named for this character as well, The Psalms of Isaak.

Isaak is a Mechoservitor or metal man, whos source of power is the steam powered engines in his chest.  And he is made of a special unworldly metal which prevents him from damage of fire.  But, aside from the magnificant creation of Isaak is the mystery behind him.  Isaak is the first Metal man to be given a name, by Rudolfo.  Isaak can't remember anything from the horrible distruction of the distruction of Windwir.  Has someone used him as a weapon?

Metal men are created to record information and to NOT lie.  The amazing thing about Isaak is he seems to adapt from this over time.  Was it from the distruction, tampering of his memory scrolls, or is he learning adapting and becoming more independent?  I have my suspecions as to what the story is.  You should go read the series to make your own.

Isaak seems to feel loyalty to certain people and tries to restore what was lost in the destruction of his home city.  I like how the Metal man with no feelings, rights, or worries becomes one to have all these in the way the books are written, yet the story is told from the view point of all but Isaak.

Favorite Fictional Character (22)

A weekly meme thanks to the creative mind of Ryan at Wordsmithonia.

My character this week is a woman who carries the burden of her family's heritage with her and on her at all times.  She also knows at some point she will be left by her demon tattoos to live on her daughter and she will be killed by an enemy without their protection.

The character I have picked for this week is Maxine Kiss of the Kiss Hunter series by Marjorie M. Liu.  In picking Maxine as my favorite character I am also getting extra characters with her.  As Maxine comes with the burden of the heavy tattoos, they look like tattoos but they are the demons who sleep during the day and hunt at night.  Even though they sound mean and vicious because they can eat anything from glass to steel to blood, but they love teddy bear heads.  And their bodies are so sharp just a touch could cut you, however they don't hurt Maxine or her boyfriend Grant (who is a great character himself - with a great power we are learning about in the books).

The Boys as Maxine calls them are beasts themselves.  There are two how prowl through the shadows and two who wrap around her neck and sing in her ear to communicate to her.  These boys will do anything they can to protect Maxine.  During the day the tattoos are an armor to protect from any harm and at night they stay at her side waiting to help at any instant.

Maxine is one to hunt zombies, demons who take over a human body.  She expells the demons from the bodies to save the human.  Maxine is a strong character who tries to live on her own to not bring harm to others and should move around the world to help in as many places as she can.  But, Maxine is a little different and has started to get attached - maybe unknowingly - to Grant and the homeless he helps at his homeless shelter.

I have enjoyed reading of Maxine in the first two books - Iron Hunt and Darkness Calls - along with a short story in the anthology Inked.  I am looking forward to book three - A Wild Light - coming out August 27, 2010.

Favorite Fictional Character (21)

Favorite Fictional Character

A weekly meme thanks to the creative mind of Ryan of Wordsmithonia.

Well, I have been away from doing this meme for far to long.  I love sharing favorite characters from movies, tv shows, and books with everyone.  So I am back at it again.

This week my FFC is a Magician from a book series, well several series.  No he's not the normal magicians you can think of.

This character goes by the name Pug, or called Milamber by the Tsurani in their land of Kelewan.  He is from the books created by Raymond E. Feist.  When the books all started Pug was a lone kitchen boy in Midkemia, his parents unknown.  The magician Kulgan, kept at hand of the Duke of Crydee, takes a notice of Pug and takes him on as an apprentice.  Pug did not know he had any ability to do magic.  But, under Kulgan's instruction learns the theory of magic but has troubles casting the spells.  Pug does work a spell at the proper timing though, to save the Dukes daughter.  Yet, the way this spell was cast was a wonder in itself, as he was able to step outside of the limits set.  But the Duke is grateful to Pug and grants him a title and lands.

Although all seems to be going well for Pug, there was a rift and Midkemia was invaded by Tsurani.  Pug ends up getting taken prisoner by the Tsurani and taken back to there home world.  While in Tsurani Pug falls in love with a slave girl Katala and Pug's training with magic is recognized so he is placed on the path to be of the Greater Magicians.

Pug learns a great deal of magic here in this world. With the knowledge they share with him, he becomes one of the powerful ones in Tsurani.  Pug realizes one day he does not care for the tourtaments they have with the slaves of his kind and leaves Tsurani, and it's not of the gracious of leaves.

But through out a few different books Pug becomes one of the most powerful magicians to walk in both the worlds.  Yet, he has his beliefs of not being the one to step in at all times to do of the Kings bidding.  He could win all the battles if he choose to but, he choose to let the people do for themselves.

Pug appears in several of Raymond E. Feist's books.  You will have to read the books to find out how that is possible.  But, I have become a big fan of many characters created by Raymond and Pug is on that list.

Favorite Fictional Character (20)

Favorite Fictional Character

A weekly meme thanks to the creative mind of Ryan of Wordsmithonia.

My Favorite Fictional Character this week is for a few reasons.  The first reason is I love this character is this is where I started reading a few years ago and the second is I have a soft spot for dragons.  Yes, you read that correctly, I said dragons.

My pick this week is named after the color of her scales, Saphira.  Do you see in the picture here how such a beautiful and strong creature she is?

Saphira is the young dragon of a young Eragon in the Inheritance Cycle (Eragon, Eldest, and Brisingr, 4th book Untitled) by Christopher Paolini.

Apart from being a beast with physical strength and beauty she has a very strong personality.  Saphira has a strong belief in the way of right and wrong and the dragons world.  Even though she was not raised by dragons, or even with dragons around - being she is on of the last around.

When Eragon questions Saphira as to why she choose him to hatch for and be her rider, her response is because he is good and strong.  Saphira sees more in people than what they are trying to act as.  She has a strong sense of good and right.  Saphira becomes the rock to Eragon.

I saw the movie Eragon and since my son loved it so much we purchased the books.  When I got laid off from my job I picked them up to read and fell in love with reading.  I found my genre to read and loved the style.

Favorite Fictional Character (19)

Favorite Fictional Character

A weekly meme thanks to the creative mind of Ryan of Wordsmithonia.

I was trying to remember shows I use to watch when I was younger.  Well, I was also looking at newly released books and while looking at the book Unknown, by Rachel Caine, and was looking at the bike on the cover and this guy popped into my head.  There was just something with long hair, motorcycle, leather, and muscles I just loved about this guy.  gggrrrr.  Sorry about that.  Reno Raines of The Renegades.

The show ran from 1992 through 1997.  Reno was a cop who was framed for murder.  Reno goes on the run.  A professional Bounty Hunter, Bobby Sixkiller, is sent to find Reno.  But, instead of this bounty hunter finding Reno and bringing him in - Reno saves his life.

Bobby and Reno become fast friends and gain each others trust.  It ends up Reno on the road working for Bobby as a bounty hunter.  Reno is tracking people down on his beautiful motorcycle, while all the long looking for the one person who could clear his own name with the law.

Reno was such a great good, bad guy turned bad, good.  LOL.  I don't know if that made any sense.  He always had the bad guy look and feel, but deep down he was the good guy looking to help anyone he could.  Reno came across some women that wanted to love him, but with all that went down when he was framed for murder his love was killed.  Reno tried to seperate himself from bringing someone innocent into the mess he was still in, not knowing if someone else would get hurt or worse... killed.

Here is the video of the opening to the show.

Favorite Fictional Character (18)

Favorite Fictional Character

A weekly meme thanks to the creative mind of Ryan at Wordsmithonia.

There is one character I remember reading about when I was younger.  My Grandmother had a shelf of books and pulled this book off the shelf and told me she thought I would enjoy this book.  And... I did.  Who was it of?  Well, it's not our traditional character in the way of people.  It was an animal.  The book was named for this animals name, Kazan.  Kazan was written by James Oliver Curwood, I think in 1914.

Kazan is a dog, okay - part wolf and husky, that lived in the Arctic.  Kazan is a larger dog and known to be fearless.  This dog lived through the hardships of the cold, starving, and fighting for his food.  The part that pulled me into the story was the book was from the dogs view point, and about the dog.  There was no self pity from the dog as he only knew life to be one way.  Kazan had been a sled dog with masters who may not have been the nicest.  Kazan had lived life on his own in the wild and had to survive, one way or another.  At one point Kazan meets a wonderful woman whom he takes to and cares for him.  Kazan also finds himself a mate in the wild.

When I googled for the book I didn't find to much.  But I did find the book in google books.  You are able to read the book, or parts of the book online.  If you would like to check it out you can click here.

Favorite Fictional Character (17)

Favorite Fictional Character

A weekly meme thanks to the creative mind of Ryan at Wordsmithonia.

This week I have thinking back to the cartoons I had watched when I was younger.  I have also realized I have not seen many of these shows in quite some time.  So one of the characters I enjoyed is on one of those shows.  Although, I have to admit I enjoyed the whole cartoon together.  Now that I think back, I think this was part of the start of me loving science fiction and fantasy.  But I guess that is what the cartoons I watched all really consisted of.  This was what gave me the hopes of an amazing future with flying cars, robots to do that awful cleaning around the house, and skyscraper apartment buildings - living in the sky of blue.   That show was, I am sure you have guessed...  The Jetsons.

I always enjoyed Judy Jetson.  She was a normal future teenage girl.  She always seemed carefree and ready to have fun.  (Good clean fun)  She was always ready to enjoy what life had to share and a positive outlook on everything going on.

I always wanted that when I was younger, as many younger kids looking up to any teenage.  She always seemed popular and well liked.  There was Elroy the youngest child and the family dog Astro.  George Jetson had the job we all would love to have - he worked three hours a day only three days a week.  I remember when I was younger I couldn't figure out why he seemed like he was home so much and not ever spending the time at work as my parents had been spending.  Well, now I know.  I found that out today.

Favorite Fictional Character (16)

Favorite Fictional Character

A weekly meme Thanks to the creative mind of Ryan at Wordsmithonia.

My character this week comes from a show I watched when I was younger. Since I had seen the pilot of this series I have always wondered and had daydreams on what it would be like to be able to stop time at any time. The character is Evie from Out of This World TV series. This show was aired from 1987 through 1991, in the US.

I believe the series start with Evie's thirteenth birthday. As a huge mile stone in every childs life is turning into a teenager. This is a big birthday for Evie. Evie learns her father is an alien, named Troy. Evie receives a diamond shaped crystal, which looks to be about 2 hands tall and wide. Through this crystal she is able to speak to her father. Evie learns that she may receive some superhuman powers on this day, being turning thirteen and to age of her powers coming in.

The one power I remember rather well of her getting is when she stopped time. Without any warning as she was talking, her hands come up with her first fingers sticking out and the rest closed in and touch together in front of her. Not aware of what this had done she keeps talking until she realizes no one is responding or even moving. Then as if her body knows exactly what to do her hands come up infront of her, fingers open and pointing up, and her palms come together to start the world back on time.
Evie always seemed to be amazed with the powers she receives and experiments with them. In experimenting with them she ends up with some sort of troubles and has to figure out how to fix what she had done. In the end of every show Evie would talk with her father through the crystal and he would give her some great fatherly-alien advice.

Throughout the series Evie receives other powers to add to the mischief she gets into. Some of these powers are: having objects appear using her mind, her face changing colors in reference to her mood, teleportation of herself, and being able to stand temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius.

Here is a short video of the opening song and the characters in the show. Notice the man who is her father, you never really see all of his face.

Favorite Fictional Character (15)

Favorite Fictional Character

Thanks to the creative mind of Ryan at Wordsmithonia.

This week I have picked a character that is just amazing with his mind. This man always has a creative solution to every problem. His television series ran from 1985 to 1992. The series was named after him... MacGyver.

Angus MacGyver was always ingenious secret agent. He had an eductated background as a scientist with bomb disposal before he started working with the US government.

As I remember back to the show he never carried a gun and from what I remember prefered to solve all problems with out violence. (Which maybe we could use again on tv.)

The one thing I remember most of this amazing character was wondering what kind of sticky situation he would end up in and what he would do to get out of it. See, if there is anyone out there who doesn't remember or know who MacGyver is, he was well known to me because he could use the most common tools combine together to make a very powerful tool to help stop the bomb or get out of the locked room.

I was always amazed at how he could use a paperclip, rubber band, and gum for the most dangerous of situations and come up with an unbelievable tool to solve all. Okay, so that may be a little exaggeration, but he did use some crazy things together to make many great tools. I even learned so science with electric and wires and combining some things together. He was always quite handy and I really liked that.

I think this is another one of those shows that ran in the 80's and we could use another show like it now! Less violence, solving situations peacefully with out killing everyone, and USING your Brain! Wonderful things to teach the children of the world again. I miss this show along with others from this time.

This week I am still in the seasonal mood. Now, I know there may be a few of this character out there - but I am going to go ahead and use this character anyway. I want to share why I love this character so much... And the character we have is... Santa Claus!

Now, Ryan at http://wordsmithonia.blogspot.com/2009/12/favorite-fictional-character-santa.html had used the same show and Santa as I am going to do.
I have a link here for his site so you can read his wonderful version of the show and why he loves this Santa. (Please stop by to visit.)

Santa Claus is Comin' to Town.

This version of Santa Claus makes him a real live person to me. I have always been one of those people that loves magic and wonder, but there has to be logic and truth behind it to make it work for me. Here in this version of Santa Claus he is just that, the really man behind it all. Here it shows how he grew up with making toys, wanted to share with all the others, met his wife, and how he came to one night a year.

I like how this tale makes Santa the real breathing person that is then given the gift of immortality for all his good will. It also makes me believe there really are wonderful, giving people who want nothing in return other than to see you happy.

That is what the season is all about, to see each other happy and safe.

I do want to say, what ever holiday this time of year you celebrate - please enjoy yourself with your friends and family (whether picked and/or born to) because we don't know how long we have them, for the moving with jobs or otherwise.

To everyone a happy and merry holiday! I hope you all have a wonderful and safe New Year as well!

Favorite Fictional Character (14)

Favorite Fictional Character

Thanks to the creative mind of Ryan at Wordsmithonia who started this on Wednesdays.

My characters this week, still in the mode of the season, are both - yes I said both - are featured in one of my favorite Christmas cartoons ~ The Year Without a Santa Claus.

As you may know how the story goes, Santa Claus gets sick and fears he will have to cancel Christmas for all the good little boys and girls. With Santa on vacation to relax, two elves have to go find people that still love Christmas to help as Santa feels people are lossing the feeling. Well, the elves run into some trouble and the reindeer is captured, thinking its a dog. But, all in all Mrs. Claus has to come to help and the mayor agrees to let the reindeer go if it will snow in this town. Now see... the catch is this down is in the south ~ where it DOES NOT snow.

So, this brings us to my two favorite characters this week... Snow Miser and Heat Miser. I love these two guys. Besides the song they sing I think they are great poler opposites. They love each other yet don't. What family love! lol.

I love how both want a little piece of what the other has... Is it always greener on the other side of the rainbow? To these brothers maybe only to one of them. They have divided the world in half and don't want to relinquish any piece they have for even one day. Mrs. Claus then has to do as many people end up doing... Yep, going to talk to Mother Nature to straighten the boys out.

So with great pleasure I introduce The Miser Brothers:
