Sunday Post #9

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share new about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

~~~~~~~~~~
Wow.  I forgot today was even Sunday... pretty bad.  Yesterday we had a party for the kiddo and I sat in the warm sun for a few hours reading and relaxing.  Then when about 8:30 pm rolled around....well, I crashed.  I slept (with a minor interruption from dog) till about 9:30 am this morning.  I have not done that in I can't tell you how long.  lol.  I must have been needing the sleep, and allergies getting to me.  I've been running with errands all day.  Now I feel stressed for time.
Were to start?  I finished my Camp NaNoWriMo project, and still writing on other projects too.  I rounded out my Nano with just shy of 25k.  WOW!  I was thrilled! and addicted to writing. LOL!
As for reading...it's been slow goings with life and Nano.  I seem to have been out of time at every turn this past week.
Received Last Week:
For Review:
Rough Magic by Kenny Soward
Goodreads Synopsis:
Niksabella the gnome has tinkered in the shadows for years, developing an invention that might change the world, even if she doesn’t know it yet. She has few friends and even fewer allies in the city of Hightower, where social and academic status is quite important.
Her brother, Nikselpik, is a cantankerous wizard who drinks too much, sings dirty songs, and makes rude passes at gnomestresses. A dark addiction consumes him, a habit called bugging, which gives him increased power and feelings of euphoria while pushing him closer to death.
Dark creatures from the ultraworlds have come calling. Niksabella must fight to protect her life and her invention, while Nikselpik engages the enemy as an unlikely guest of Hightower’s military elite. Niksabella and Nikselpik must find their true powers together, or perish apart. Will they heal the wounds of their childhood before it's too late?
Book one of debut fantasy author Kenny Soward's GnomeSaga series.
Freebies:
In The Dark by P.G. Forte
Goodreads Synopsis:
When you live forever, you’re bound to make a few mistakes.
Children of Night, Book 1
1969 San Francisco. World-weary Conrad Quintano should have known better than to fall in love with a human—much less Suzanne Fischer, the barely legal, adventure-seeking hippie beauty known as Desert Rose. And the very last thing he should have agreed to do was to raise her babies and protect them with his life. But even twelve-hundred-year-old master vampires can find it hard to reject a deathbed request—especially when issues of love, guilt and blood are involved.
Present day. Raised in virtual isolation, twins Marc and Julie Fischer have always known they are vampires. But they never knew their parentage—or their unique status in the vampire world—until their “uncle” Damian comes to fetch them home. The family reunion, however, isn’t what they expect. They’re thrust into a world for which they’re totally unprepared. And the father they expected to see, Conrad, is missing.
How to find him…and whom to trust? Solving the mystery of betrayal and vampire family values will prove the Beatles had it right. All you need is love…and an occasional side of blood.
