Always Be My Banshee by Molly Harper
I enjoyed this one. I liked how the couple find each other when they arrive at Devil's Armpit and are introduced to Mystic Bayou. They seem to have thoughts and things in common along with being kind people that work for them working together.
I enjoyed how they find each other and grow together. Their solidarity in their lives is something they share and it eventually blooms into friendships they've wanted.
The romance... I found there wasn't a terrible big problem between them. Just working through troubles in town and Cordelia learning more about her power and controlling it. There are a few hiccups, which I enjoyed how they were written. Molly very easily could have taken the path many take with an old, childhood boyfriend. But she takes a path I appreciate much more. We have a few adults here folks!
I loved seeing things unfold with the Rift here. And we get our answers to it. Now, not as much work is done as it's a health hazard, which leads to time at growing friendships and romance. But that's what these books are about. Relationships. This couple is a great pair for this work.
I enjoy the quick one liners or mentions that pop up. Lines that you don't think people would say, but you know they think it. When you hear them say it, it's a hoot. I love these quick clips and seeing the reactions.
It's nice seeing them find friends and chosen family here. It's something they don't really have, and to see how accepted they are, well it's nice.

Audio Book Review: Selkies are a Girl's Best Friend by Molly Harper
Selkies are a Girl's Best Friend by Molly Harper
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I enjoy seeing Sonia in action. She's a strong woman who knows her worth and value in all she does. And she does work great magic at her job, even though she's human and no magic about her. She's amazing at keeping things organized and running smoothly in the office.
This book felt like it flowed nicely for Sonia and Will. A little bit of a bumpy start, but that gets ironed out pretty quick. And they find a nice easy rhythm they fall into with work and getting to know each other. Will has a few family issues from when he was growing up, and that creates a speed bump for him and Sonia.
The thing I'm always curious about with the romance is the Rift. The Rift felt to take a back seat to the romance of Sonia and Will. Which makes sense as Sonia isn't one to work at the Rift, she's administrative. Though, being so great at her job, Sonia does find some discrepancies in the reports that catch her eye and she ends up investigating them. The investigation is short lived, though it does lead to trouble.
Are you looking for romance? This is one for you.

Audio Book Review: Even Tree Nymphs Get the Blues by Molly Harper
Even Tree Nymphs Get the Blues by Molly Harper
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This is a novella and short audio book. There's a new person arriving to town. She's drawn here by the pull of the rift that she's felt for years and is now ready to settle here. Along with starting her dairy farm to create and open her own creamery. Everyone's excited to have GOOD ice cream in town!
This story is of Ingrid as she moves to town and tries to avoid the League employees as she doesn't trust them. But, there's one man who keeps popping up, Rob Aspern. He seems sincere but he works for the League...
I didn't feel the connection for Ingrid at first as she arrived in Mystic Bayou. I thought it was going to be hard as an outsider who's not big on interaction to have a shop...but the dragons do it. She had such a strong distrust of the League, and made me wonder about how things were going to work out. Then, I couldn't see how any relationships, friend or lover, was going to blossom for her.
Then at the second half of the book, things shifted. Events lead Ingrid to start to open up to people in friendships, and potentially more. They find their way through mishaps and misunderstandings. The people they are shine through true in those moments.
There's no smexy time in this novella. But it's a sweet start.

Audio Book Review: Guardian of Madness by Michelle Manus
Guardian of Madness by Michelle Manus
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Book 3 and I'm not stopping! I'm FULLY invested in this series. Well, after book 1 I was convinced I needed more. Book 2 hand me sold on searching for each book on release date. Book 3. I'm in for life!
(Book 4 will be out in August. I'm going to preorder!)
This book is a little different. We get most of the book through Nyx's eyes, like the first two books. But with how events unfold here, we also get sections through Seth's eyes. I'm loving Seth. I also have thoughts about Nyx and Seth's past, which Nyx can't remember. They are so great together! With these two views, we get to see details we're wanting.
We have a more serious feel as the story starts. There are things that could be coming, and Nyx is trying to prepare. I missed the quick jabs and comments as our friends carry on in good nature. It happens, as they are getting ready for an event in Between Earth.
I'm still trying to figure out Kaden... Love for... her or just himself? I get a feel for this at the end of this book. But then more questions rise that circle around Nyx's mom and what she's done to Nyx. I love that we learn more about portal witches and portal travel. And even with the worlds out there.
So excited to meet a few new characters and I'm looking forward to seeing more of them!
The beginning of this book is our breathing space, before everything moves at neck breaking speed. And that breathing space is STILL fast moving! When things really start rolling, you'll be thankful for the breath at the beginning because you WON'T want to stop to digest what you're learn. You'll keep going! NEEDING ever word and action you get. The last 4 1/2 - 5 hours of this audio book was NON-STOP. Wow. I didn't want to stop with information and action I was getting.
Blown Away. In love!

Book Review: Blood Before Sunrise by Amanda Bonilla
Blood Before Sunrise by Amanda Bonilla
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I was glad to get back into this world. Though things aren't as Darian thinks they are. Things are off.
Never would Darian have thought they'd play out the way they did. She's determined to help the man that's like a brother to her find his daughter. And keep things well along with make sure Tyler stays safe while she does it.
Darian has troubles with trust. Who wouldn't blame her after how Azriel had treated her all those years ago. I know it's hard to break how you've grown to be, but I so wish Darian would share and tell Tyler more. Things would have been so much easier for her. (but, then we wouldn't have had a book, right? lol)
Darian is one that when she gets ahold of something, she doesn't let go until she gets through to the end. And that she does here.
We learn about new levels of magic here. Very interesting.
I found the beginning of the book slower as things build up. Then off we go with Darian. Almost like a bull in a China shop. lol. The end, I wasn't sure if it would end. It was a lot happening, but then when the big finally happened I felt it wasn't as big as we had been leading up to.
I did enjoy all we learned though. And I'll be following along with Darian in the next books.

Oh to spend time with Jane once again. I do enjoy her humor. She's always got a quick come back for everything.
I'm glad Jane has started to come into her own. She's standing up for herself and learning more about her powers and using them. She needs to learn to have faith in herself, and a sleeping entity maybe the one to help her find that faith. With a little help from another who will guide her along the path.
I so so SO want her and Anyan to have that private time together. They've been working and working and deserve a few minutes... But, evil never waits for the good guys to have a little fun. The sexual tension is... tough, but it's so well done! I'm rooting for them the whole time!
I love the humor in the serious moments and so enjoy reading these books. I'm looking forward to finishing the series.

Book Review: Wrong Side of Dead by Kelly Meding
Wrong Side of Dead by Kelly Meding
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I've been enjoying being back in this world. I felt Evy has really grown in her ways and views in this book. All she's seen and learned about those around her, especially after what she's endeared since her first death, has made her into a more rounded person. She's more aware of the lives around her and how they are affected by events. She's also seeing the bigger picture.
It's good to see a little justice given for what Evy and so many had to live through. But... there's more at play here and we'll see it in the books to come.
Evy's love life is a little on the rocky side. She's been through so much and needs to digest who SHE is. But, when things come down to it, she knows her love and it shines.
The book starts further in the future than I was expecting it to. But we do bounce back to where we left off in the last book for moments or chapters. I liked getting to see these events as they explain a lot about what's happening and the feelings that are felt.
I do enjoy this world. We get to learn more about the other supernatural beings in this world in this book.

Audio Book Review: Guardian of Shadows by Michelle Manus
Guardian of Shadows by Michelle Manus
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I'm in love! I'm blown away at how Michelle can put so much in each chapter. AND! The book moves forward with amazing flow and drive that I WANT, NEEEEED, to keep listening. I want to know everything Michelle will give me. I love how there's so many tidbits that could come into play in the future. I'm going to dive into book 3 ASAP. And I'm looking forward to book 4 in August.
Nyx can't remember anything before she was 18, waking with a note in her hand and an apartment that's paid for a year and scholarship to college. But small memories are starting to returning since her trip. When a mysterious visitor, who SEEs her, sparks a memory and familiar feelings she approaches him. And remembers his name just as he races off to the Shadow Market. Nyx is determined to find him and learn more on her past.
Her new friends want to join her on this trip, and have personal reasons for being here. These characters all feel to fit together wonderfully as a cast. I love the relationships between them. Tension of all sorts as we fight through events. Even when they don't see eye to eye. I love that there's different dynamics to the relationships...friends, maybe more, and dislike.
I have so many thoughts on the characters and look forward to seeing more with them and about their lives. I think there are a few characters that have their own agenda at heart as well. Oh so good.
I feel for Nyx. She's a good person and would like to know about her past. And why people leave her so easily. She really doesn't want to be alone. She'll let people go on their own though, hoping they at least visit.
This book, series! is so mind blowing good. I love the adventures, the personal connections, the personal adventures, and growth through the book. All flowing together in the story. Wow. Love this!

AudioBook Review: Guardian of Chaos by Michelle Manus
Guardian of Chaos by Michelle Manus
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
THIS BOOK! I think it was AMAZING! It's one I listened to in audio and WANT to read the paperback too. It's a book worthy of being in print and kept on my TOP shelves.
Just one chapter in and I was checking my audible credits for ordering the next books in the series. I even was looking at Michelle's other series, which I'll be picking up in the future. Yes. it was that catching.
I found Nyx to be a kind character and I was really curious about why she couldn't leave her home town. Then, when she was lead to the Station... Oh things got so interesting! First, I could TOTALLY live in this Waystation with Nyx. She love my kind of scenery, a library full of fantasy books! And meeting Griff. He's such a great avatar. I love his personality.
Nyx finds she loves being here, especially after living her life as not being seen by anyone. Now she's seen and has friends. And her friends list grows! It might be with those in the Earth Between and it might be people she...shouldn't? be friends with. At least when it comes to the Council's thoughts. But this group of friends is so cool. I love all their personalities and relationships. There's something special about them all as they are all from different worlds.
It's hard to learn and do everything on the first day. Nyx is learning the hard way. She's handling it in stride. Until she receives a missive that she had an traveler that wasn't allowed to travel the ley lines, and she has to find and capture him. This leads Nyx on a great adventure as her assistant, Evra, has other plans as well.
Each chapter has big events happening that kept me wanting more. Nyx does far more than any Station Guardian should do and even puts more into it as this is the first real home she's felt to have, that she remembers.
I love all the details that feel important to me. There's so many possibilities for the future books that are coming. There's tidbits here that could come into play in the future. I'm excited to see it happen!
I loved this book so much, I've ordered the next two that are out and I'm diving into book two NOW!
What are you waiting for??
