We have come to the end of the first part of Soul Trade by Caitlin Kittredge. Goodness it's good to be back in the world with Pete and Jack, and The Black pressing down on us.
So, lets get to the questions!
****WARNING: There WILL BE SPOILERS in the comments, and possibly in the questions.****
If you have something in mind to chat, feel free to comment with it. These questions are to just get us started and lead into more thoughts.
Robyn's Questions:
1.) What's going on with the kids? What's in store for them?
2.) Is Pete the only Weir? Do you think there could still be someone else out there like her? What does this mean for her future?
3.) What about Lily? There hasn't been any mention of her power. What do you think is in store for her?
Melissa's Questions:
1.) What is in this area that could 'infect' Pete? What is here to draw the kids families, and kill the backpackers?
2.) Who could possibly be the Merlin of this time? Have we even met that person yet?
3.) Do you trust the Prometheans? What about the Morrigan's warnings?
4.) Who's soul is in the soul cage Preston gave Pete? Why to Pete? What side is Preston on?
Oh these kids are a very curious thing! I am wondering if they have demon souls in them, but where are their souls. It seemed as there was only a husk of a body left with nothing much of their personal souls left after the Treadwell incident. So maybe that's what attracted the parents to this place....the hopes of someone saying they would have their children back, but instead it's a demon soul living out in their childrens bodies.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious to see what happens. It seems as the one child, the one Pete saved kinda knows something. I'm hoping we get to hear from her in private what's going on.
Do you think in the cage, is a child? Maybe it's someone like Margaret?
DeleteI haven't decided yet who's in that cage. But now after seeing these kids, I think it's a very good chance. Or someone who the "bad guys" want to release into the world to help them take over. I can't pick which way to go! LOL
DeleteOooh I didn't think of it being a bad guy, hmmm.
DeleteThere is always a chance there is someone else out there like Pete. I'm not sure I believe this group so heavily. They could be saying that to sway Charlie to their side, which seems to have worked in partial.
ReplyDeleteDid you just say Charlie? :) Hehehe. :P
DeleteI think it would be interesting to see if Pete was the only one.
Think about the people wanting to come after her if she was.
Oh my goodness. My books are getting mixed up. lol. I was writing my review with Charlie in it. Duh! lol
DeleteYes I think they are trying to sway PETE! lol.
That's what I'm not sure for...why aren't there more people after Pete if she is really the only Weir out there? Kinda curious.
Maybe it's because of Jack. Nobody wants to be near Jack so why come near Pete? Haha, I'm not sure. I'm sure we will find out soon. Maybe not in this book but the next one?
DeleteIs it possible, not too many know of her yet?
Maybe the word is still spreading, and after what Jack did in the last book no one wants to push against them...yet. But the word is spreading, and I think it'll not be good in the end for them, or Lily.
DeleteJack has always seemed to be the dangerous one if the two. Maybe its really Pete.
DeleteWell, they both seem kinda reckless together. ;) lol. We'll see. Pete seems to have calmed some with Lily around, but maybe not. She seems to go off the handle without thinking here in this book. lol
DeleteI bet Pete is someone you won't want to mess around with if they try to harm Lily.
DeleteI keep fearing someone is going to show up with Lily as a threat to Pete and Jack. That would soooo be the wrong thing to do. But it's always a chance to happen. I think she is still to young to really see any powers in her yet. But *shrug shoulders* maybe she's another Weir, maybe she'll be a sensitive too. Or nothing at all. We'll have to wait and see. :)
ReplyDeleteI wondering if Lily is just going to be in the back of the story for awhile. Eventually she'll have to used as a threat or her powers will start to develop.
DeleteI'm thinking the same about Lily too. Although, there is going to be some creature or someone out there that's going to try to kidnap her. I just keep waiting for it.
DeleteI'm curious to know how old she'll be by the end of the series.
DeleteIt might all depend on if the books keep selling, on if things will keep going for her as well.
DeleteIt seems like no one likes a Weir. I'm curious to know more about being one. What does this mean for her future?
ReplyDeleteIt seems the Weir magic is rather dangerous to yield, for her and who she matches up with. She could burn through all their magic.
DeleteI'm curious as well. She seems to control it well. However I do get the sense in this read that it might be becoming rather powerful and she might struggle with the control over it in the future.
There has to be a weak spot for her somewhere. Everyone has one. When will it hit her?
DeleteWill her power grow even more and that causes her to lose control over it?
Yeah, I don't know how Caitlin is going to play this out. It's been hinted at how it wants to 'eat' the magic and keep burning. So could that be a warning of trouble to come?
DeleteMaybe it is a warning. I just hope Jack is there for her and not with Morrigan.
DeleteHa! Yes! I don't know about the Morrigan, I wonder if there is another out there that would swoop in and try to help Pete. Maybe the one that is who's side Pete will be on in the war against Jack? That is the way it's "suppose" to play out, if I remember correctly.
DeleteIt could happen. At some point Jack and Pete have to fight. As much as I want a happy couple. There has to be a problem somewhere down the line.
DeleteI really do like that we're seeing another side to Pete. We know of her power but I feel like we're going to learn even more. I was so worried that it would be Jack's point of view. Love the man, but I want to know so much more about Pete. Even in the last book where it was her point of view, I felt like we didn't get enough information about her.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100%. I love Jack and the troubles he gets in. But yes, I've been wanting more of Pete for the last two books. I want to know more about her powers, which I know she doesn't know much about, but I want to know what she feels when using them. This book is really giving me that this time around. I think I am enjoying this book actually more than the last one.
DeleteThe way the series goes, it seems it goes from what to the next. I wouldn't mind if the next book had both of their views.
DeleteAt this point, I don't know who we should trust.
ReplyDeleteI want to say we should trust Preston because he gave her the soul cage. Maybe it was to save someone. But here's a question. Was it his? Did the Prometheans, lock his soul away and this was his way of warning Pete? But at the same time? Who was Preston, does he have something up his sleeve even after death.
I don't think we can trust the Prometheans. If Jack can't, I don't think I can. At the same time though, I think Pete is slowly starting to. I can't decide if they want to use Pete or Jack more? What would they get out of having one of them or both of them?
Even if they are warnings. I can't trust the Morrigan. There has to be something going on there. The Morrigan wants Jack. Pete better watch herself.
I keep remembering what Preston told Pete about the Prometheans saying he's bad, but it didn't seem that way. I think they know Pete is to smart for that. That what they told Pete was a great blend of truth and false. But what parts what? I don't know.
DeleteI can't bring myself to trust Prometheans yet. Pete seems to want to trust them, but I'm with Jack on this one.
I think there is a power in Jack, and through him the Morrigan. But the Morrigan wants Jack away from here, even Pete too! So there is something not right. And I think Using Pete in any way will amplify their abilities and reduce (when she uses her powers) others abilities.
Ha, no I don't trust Morrigan as well. :D It's crazy! I think the line of truth is weaved between them all, and they all are lying as well. Just piecing it together is the hard part.
Maybe if Pete joins the Prometheans that could mean trouble for Morrigan. Or Morrigan knows what will happen once the Prometheans have control over Pete.
DeleteIt seems as Pete might have been tricked into being part of the Prometheans. When she left the woman said welcome to Pete. She tricked Pete right into saying yes at the end. I just hope she can get out of it now, and only have been an ally, but I fear they don't have allies but only members.
DeleteI have a feeling once you join. There is no turning back.
DeleteI'm thinking the infecting that the Morrigan is talking about is infecting like with Preston. I do think he went crazy here, kinda like the others here already. So I'm hoping Jack and Pete won't get affected just yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm just not sure who, or what, is here in this area affecting the people. It seems strange. But a demonic creature of some sort, I think.
You know who we need? Belial. Maybe he'll have some answers. Maybe? Or he'll want something of course.
DeleteHa! Yes! I was wondering if there was a demon we could contact to learn more from. But I don't think that will work well for Jack. ;)
DeleteVery true.
DeleteI'm curious as to how the Merlin will be. I kinda wonder if we met that person yet. Could it be the person Pete is looking for? Or maybe that girl thats one of the kids? Or is it even Jack? hard to say, maybe we haven't even met the person just yet.
ReplyDeleteI bet we haven't met the person yet. Or maybe it is one of the kids??? Hmm.
DeleteYou don't think this is a line with Merlin and Prometheans that will play over a few books, do you?
DeleteMaybe? Unless we find out by the end of this one.
DeleteOh! We have mention of the backpackers that went missing here in this area the kids are in. Wonder where they went. Where they somethings dinner? Or something else?
ReplyDeleteMaybe or hidden somewhere. I wonder for what purpose though. Maybe one of them is the soul I'm the cage.
ReplyDeleteMaybe. And I wonder if the backpackers were more than just as simple as people thought. Maybe they were more too, and got caught in the crossfire of what ever is here.
DeleteI guess we'll find out soon. :)
