Synopsis:
Parts of this synopsis I find could be spoiler-ish for the movie, if you don't know. So I'm whiting out. Highlight if you are curious.
Priest, a post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller, is set in an alternate world -- one ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. The story revolves around a legendary Warrior Priest from the last Vampire War who now lives in obscurity among the other downtrodden human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities ruled by the Church. When his daughter is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires, Priest breaks his sacred vows to venture out on a quest to find her before they turn her into one of them. He is joined on his crusade by (her) his daughter's boyfriend, a trigger-fingered young wasteland sheriff, and a former Warrior Priestess who possesses otherworldly fighting skills.
My Thoughts and Summary:
In a world where vampires have always existed and wared with humans, humans have taken shelter behind large walls where vampires can not enter. Then saviors where found, Priests that fight and kill the vampires. Vampires where thought to have been all killed off or imprisoned in one place. However, one retired priest learns his brother and family where attacked, where no one believes there are vampires around, so going against his order, and being hunted for it, he goes to save his niece taken prisoner by the vampires.
We did enjoy this one. I was kinda surprised. I remember seeing the commercials a long while ago about it and wasn't so sure about it.
But the Priest take on being a vampire hunter was intriguing, so I had to see it. Their was a very good story weaved here and the world setting was well done to bring you into this world and understand what is going on. There is also action to keep the story moving.
Also, these are not vampires that "sparkle" and make out in the corners. Oh no. This is what a vampire should be. Ugly, dangerous, deadly. Although there is another twist to that vampire thing here as well.
This story even left an ending that it could do more movies. Could. It's an ending, but I being the person always looking for more saw a flicker of a possibility of more to come.
Husband thought it was a good pick as well. He liked it, which I was worried about as it is a vampire movie, but all worked out well.
I'm actually going to start looking to see if there is a second one in this setting, that's how much I really enjoyed it...surprisingly. (although I don't think there is a next movie.)
Oh I think I can handle the horror aspect b/c there is enough sci fi in it.
ReplyDeleteTell the hubs that the sequel has lots of kissing in it. ;)
Btw... *looks around and flicks whip* where is my FF????? Hm????? :)
Oh, I wasn't finding a second movie. I wish I did though. And yes. No FF...yet. I printed a few myths out that I would like to reference when I do this one. But I haven't had a chance to sit down and read and write. :) I'm hoping to get to it tomorrow.
DeleteOh I really liked this one, I was surprised and I really hope we would have a second one as well.
ReplyDeleteMelliane, oh so glad to hear you enjoyed this one too! I was very surprised with it as well. And it would be nice for a second one to come out. :)
