Cover Reveal: Clockwork Fairy Tales

So, if you've been around here long you know one of my favorite authors - Philippa Ballantine.  Well, she has a short story to be in this clockwork anthology (and anthologies are my weakness as well).

I do want this book!  As I'm really taken with the fairy tale stories as of late too...

Clockwork Fairy Tales

A Collection of Steampunk Fables

Due Out:  June 4, 2013

Goodreads Synopsis:

Combining the timeless fairy tales that we all read as children with the out-of-time technological wizardry that is steampunk, this collection of stories blends the old and the new in ways sure to engage every fantasy reader.…

Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s The Red Shoes,” New York Times bestselling author K. W. Jeter’s La Valse” forges a fable about love, the decadence of technology, and a gala dance that becomes the obsession of a young engineer—and the doom of those who partake in it.…

In You Will Attend Until Beauty Awakens,” national bestselling author and John W. Campbell Award winner Jay Lake tells the story of Sleeping Beauty—and how the princess was conceived in deception, raised in danger, and rescued by a prince who may be less than valiant.

The tale of The Tinderbox” takes a turn into the surreal when a damaged young soldier comes into possession of an intricate, treacherous treasure and is drawn into a mission of mercy in national bestselling author Kat Richardson’s The Hollow Hounds.”

In The Kings of Mount Golden,” Hugo and World Fantasy Award nominee Paul Di Filippo tells the story of a young man’s search for his heritage and a mechanical marvel that lies at the heart of a sinister pact in this fascinating take on The King of the Golden Mountain.”

Cover & Synopsis Reveal: The Dragon's Egg

So, you know I've read the first book of this series.  But I've not posted my glowing review yet.  Yes, I said glowing.  I really enjoyed the first book and sped through it with speed as I couldn't stop reading.  Yes, it's on the fantasy side of the realm as well.  So I was happy.  Very happy.

Also, the author will be stopping by here September for a day as her tour comes through here.  So, with an interview you will get to know her.

But what are we here for today?  The cover reveal of the fourth, and final, book in the Dragonslayer series.

So here it is:

The Dragon's Egg

By:  Resa Nelson

Description:

In the fourth and final book of the Dragonslayer series, Mandulane’s army is poised to attack the Northlands in the name of a powerful god, but in truth Mandulane is using the act of spreading this new faith as a way to disguise his own personal greed and hunger for power. Astrid has succeeded in warning her beloved country of imminent danger, and the Northlanders scramble to set up a clever defense, never realizing a spy in their midst is poised to take critical information directly to Mandulane.

After sacrificing herself in order to set her brother Drageen free for the sake of protecting the Northlands, Astrid finds herself controlled by the stone of light. Although it forces her path of destiny, Astrid learns she must make one final choice about who she wants to be.

Most important of all, her new sweetheart Trep encounters a dragon that entrusts him with the care of a dragon’s egg. Trep embraces a dangerous journey and accepts the duty of protecting the unhatched dragon, knowing that its safety could impact the fate of the entire world.

So what do you think?  After only reading the first book, I'm very curious to see how we get to here!  And love that egg!  There's a dragon in there!

Cover and Synopsis Reveal: Dark Whispers

Today I have the cover and synopsis of this contemporary fantasy novella series for the second story for you.  Now, I have the first story here to read, and can't wait to get to it.

Dark Whispers

Book 2 of: The Spirit Callers series

By:  Krista D. Ball

Due Out:  November 2012

Description:

A rash of teen suicides shakes the remote Newfoundland village that Rachel Mills calls home. As Rachel helps the school investigate, painful memories from her past – events she’d worked very hard to forget – continue to resurface.

As if she didn't have enough problems. Her beloved 93-year-old neighbor develops heart problems. The man Rachel's in love with, moves into her house--along with his girlfriend, the most perfect woman in creation. And a strung-out wreck of a woman claiming to be Rachel's biological mother shows up on her doorstep. But it isn’t until a local boy with a talent for spellwork, is attacked by a mysterious stranger that Rachel asks the question she’s avoided her whole life: how powerful can a Spirit Caller like herself become?

What do you think?  Sounds like a lot going on in Rachel's life there, and I'm curious to learn about being a Spirit Caller.  That cover is spooky, with the shades of purple and the ghost girl.  Looking good.

I do look forward to reading the first story, Spirits Rising.  Curious about this series?  The series is a set of novella length stories.  The first book, of 80pgs, is Spirits Rising:

Synopsis:
Rachel Mills has one wish in life: for the spirit world to shut up and leave her alone. She thought her move to a remote fishing village in Northern Newfoundland would help.

Population: Twenty. What could go wrong?

Instead of peace, however, she relocates to a land of superstitution, the air alive with the presence of others.

When a local teenager accidentally summons the spirits of the area, including those from a thousand-year-old Viking settlement, all supernatural breaks loose. As the spirits stalk her and each other, Rachel finds herself in over her head. With the help of Mrs. Saunders, her 93-year-old neighbour, Rachel has to put aside her own prejudices long enough to send the spirits back to rest, or risk being caught in the midst of a spirit war.

You can find these novellas in eformat.

Cover Release

Caitlin Kittredge just posted the cover for her next book in the Black London Series, Devil's Business.

I have been enjoying this series and look forward to this book very much.  Especially with where Jack and Pete are in their lives.  (No it wasn't a cliffhanger in Bone Gods, I just want to see where and what they do next)

So, are you ready???

I love the look of Jack on this cover.  Much healthier, but that goes with the series as well and his tall tale magic sparkles is showing too.  And the background... I think I see carnival rides back there!  Looks amazing!

Oh, and the comment Caitlin made with this posted picture... Hmmm, can't wait to dig in.  Oh, did you want to read it?  CLICK HERE to visit Caitlin's site and see what it was.
