Monday's Beginnings (157)

And it's Monday...

It was a blah weekend.  Lots of running around for school shopping for the kid.  And he has become picky in his clothing choices and slow at trying one.  *sigh*  Hello teenage years. *shacks head*  So needless to say not much reading done.  Last week I was rather slow at reading as well.  I've got two books going and started listening to my next podcast story.  I'll finish up posting on Fables of the Flying City this week, and start with this story next week...that's the plan at the moment.

I plan on finishing one of the books by Wednesday, maybe Tuesday, and the other by the end of the week.  Then I'll be starting into Fool Moon as I've been told I need to get back to the Dresden series. ;)

Shadows Before the Sun by Kelly Gay

Sorry, I didn't do a Flash Fiction Friday.  I had an idea pop into my head and was busy thinking on that story line.

My WANT List...I only added 3 books.  I would have had 4 but couldn't find one.  Oh well.  That list is amazingly to long to begin with these days.

Received Last Week:
Fool Moon by Jim Butcher
Goodreads Synopsis:
Business has been slow. Okay, business has been dead. And not even of the undead variety. You would think Chicago would have a little more action for the only professional wizard in the phone book. But lately, Harry Dresden hasn't been able to dredge up any kind of work—magical or mundane.

But just when it looks like he can't afford his next meal, a murder comes along that requires his particular brand of supernatural expertise.
A brutally mutilated corpse. Strange-looking paw prints. A full moon. Take three guesses—and the first two don't count...

Changes by Jim Butcher
Goodreads Synopsis:
Long ago, Susan Rodriguez was Harry Dresden's lover-until she was attacked by his enemies, leaving her torn between her own humanity and the bloodlust of the vampiric Red Court. Susan then disappeared to South America, where she could fight both her savage gift and those who cursed her with it.

Now Arianna Ortega, Duchess of the Red Court, has discovered a secret Susan has long kept, and she plans to use it-against Harry. To prevail this time, he may have no choice but to embrace the raging fury of his own untapped dark power. Because Harry's not fighting to save the world...

He's fighting to save his child.

The first 5 Chapters to listen to.
Avalon Revisited by O.M. Grey
Goodreads Synopsis:
Arthur has made his existence as a vampire bearable for over three hundred years by immersing himself in blood and debauchery. Aboard an airship gala, he meets Avalon, an aspiring vampire slayer who sparks fire into Arthur’s shriveled heart. Together they try to solve the mystery of several horrendous murders on the dark streets of London. Cultures clash and pressures rise in this sexy Steampunk Romance. was your week last week?  How does this week look for you?

I'm hoping to get lots cleared up on my list this week, and get reviews written I didn't get done over the weekend.

Here's wishing you all the best in words and pages this week.

  1. Do you do the thing where you buy books in a series, and then you have other review(ish) stuff to do, and somehow those books to the great series get pushed under something? I do, and then I look at the series list and am all (I know I have the next couple in that series somewhere!)

    Beth ^_^

    1. Thanks Beth D. I do that all the time! I have a few series here (okay, more than a few) I want to get back to but keep getting caught up with review books. :) I'll get there one day!

  2. I'm relieved that I am not the only one with a list of reviews still to write! I've ordered Full Blooded, so I am looking forward to your review on that one. :)

    1. Oh no Mirjam. I use to keep up but have been behind for some time now. Oh, I think you are going to absolutely love Full Blooded. I can't praise it enough. :) Thank you!

  3. I hope you enjoy full moon and changes, this is a great series. Hope you have a great week :)

    1. THank you Ginny The Book Reading Pug. I had to get Changes as it was only $2! But it'll be a while before I get that far in the series. :) Thank you! Hope you have a great week as well.

  4. It happens to us all! I've had a lot of extra time, but I still have about a month left of my summer vacation.

    1. Carole Rae, thanks. I've been suffering with a bum ankle/foot this week and not able to get on computer much either with trying to keep it elevated. *sigh* Oh well. Have a great week!

  5. And I thought MY weekend was busy! ^_^ Looks like you have things under control though...and best of luck on the reading! Carve a little time out for yourself to relax and enjoy....

    1. Oh GMR, So far so good with everything, but I've got lots of reading to make up for. ;D Hope you have a great week! Thank you!

  6. One day I'll have to read the second book of the Jim Butcher series. Hope you'll like them. happy reading!

    1. Melliane, oh you could join me next week reading the second book by Jim BUtcher! :D If you would like. ;) Thank you! Have a great week.

  7. Have fun with the shopping! :) Yes, you can get the whip and kill me with it now. :)

Oh I still need to get into the Butcher series. I'm so behind in everything!!

    1. Gaaa, Melissa (Books&Things) If it wasn't for this ankle, it would have gone better shopping, but was okay. And I've just started the Butcher series, so I'm not much further ahead of ya. :D Thank you!
