Throwback Thursday (22)

Let's talk about those books already on the shelves, yours or the stores.

I have a post for books I'm looking forward to coming out;
Looking Forward To...
But what about all those wonderful books that are ALREADY on the shelves.
Whether it be on your shelf waiting to be read or on the shelves in the stores waiting for you to give it a good home.

So, I thought I would share a book a week that is just waiting for me to travel through it's world.

Now... where do I start? Lets go by Published Date on the books...

This Week:

A friend gave me a copy of this book as they had two and talked highly of it.  I do want to get to it one of these days, but currently I lent it out to a co-worker and waiting for her to return. (I know she will)  She seems to not be getting into the story as much, but she likes more romance stories than I do.  And another friend here has talked great things of the story as well.  And I think the author is coming out with a second book in this world and series.  *sigh* yes another one I need to get going on.

Goodreads Synopsis:
Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.
When Melanie, one of the few remaining "wild" humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.
Wanderer probes Melanie's thoughts, hoping to discover the whereabouts of the remaining human resistance. Instead, Melanie fills Wanderer's mind with visions of the man Melanie loves - Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she has been tasked with exposing. When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.

  1. I had a hard time with the first chapter, but once I understood more of what was going on, I was totally hooked. This is a fantastic story with some suspense, love, and even a sad moment or two. Very, very creative. Definitely take the time to read it. They are supposed to be making a movie from what I understand.

  3. I loved this book - preferred it so much to the Twilight books. It seemed so much more original to me! I agree it takes a little while to get into it but is definitely worth it...and if your friend can keep with it there is a sweet romance there too! Definitely read it!

I hadn't heard that there would be a second book - I'll look forward to that! :)

  4. I think I hate the Twilight books so much that anything else by her is suspect for me.

  5. Now for me, the Twilight books are girl crack. Can't just read one. The Host, however, did nothing for me. I'm considering trying it again sometime, but my TBR pile is way too big right now.

  6. I tried to read it and then skimmed the whole thing. What was I thinking? I mean Twilight was not good

  8. I actually really loved this book. It didn't sound like the kind of book I would enjoy but I had nothing else to read so I picked it up and I just couldn't put it down until I had finished it all. It was the first time I read any story involving aliens and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

  9. First I have to say I'm really surprised at the range of thoughts on this book. I really love it and so glad each and every one of you stopped by to share with me. :) Great thoughts and thank you soooo much for sharing.

Mel - Wow. Liked it more than Twilight. Cool. :) As I've not read Twilight yet, and not sure if I will. But glad to hear you enjoyed this one. And I think as it's been a while since I heard, but there might be a total of 3 books here. Not sure though.

Ryan G - lol. I know , I'm very wary about starting the Twilight series. And Ryan, you are not alone in not liking them as I do know others who don't too.

Jennifer - Thank you for stopping by! And so glad you enjoyed the Twilight books so. :)

Blodeuedd - You didn't like Twilight too. Hmm, I'm wondering if that is part of my co-workers thing is she did love Twilight and this isn't living up to that for her. Hm. Thanks!

Melissa (Books&Things) - Oh, thank you. I'm curious to see what you think of this one as well. Some day, you can give it a try. ;)

Simcha - Oh, great! I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed this one so much. I bet you where really surprised with it. :) Thank you!

  12. StephanieD - Hi! :) Thank you for stopping by. I've heard of others who liked it and some how didn't. I think it's the alien thing that the others didn't like, as they aren't alien reading people. :) But one day I'll give it a go.

Nina - Hi! :) Thank you for stopping by! Oh, so glad you enjoyed this one. And even better than Twilight. wow! :) Thank yoU!
