Favorite Fictional Character (16)

Favorite Fictional Character

A weekly meme Thanks to the creative mind of Ryan at Wordsmithonia.

My character this week comes from a show I watched when I was younger. Since I had seen the pilot of this series I have always wondered and had daydreams on what it would be like to be able to stop time at any time. The character is Evie from Out of This World TV series. This show was aired from 1987 through 1991, in the US.

I believe the series start with Evie's thirteenth birthday. As a huge mile stone in every childs life is turning into a teenager. This is a big birthday for Evie. Evie learns her father is an alien, named Troy. Evie receives a diamond shaped crystal, which looks to be about 2 hands tall and wide. Through this crystal she is able to speak to her father. Evie learns that she may receive some superhuman powers on this day, being turning thirteen and to age of her powers coming in.

The one power I remember rather well of her getting is when she stopped time. Without any warning as she was talking, her hands come up with her first fingers sticking out and the rest closed in and touch together in front of her. Not aware of what this had done she keeps talking until she realizes no one is responding or even moving. Then as if her body knows exactly what to do her hands come up infront of her, fingers open and pointing up, and her palms come together to start the world back on time.
Evie always seemed to be amazed with the powers she receives and experiments with them. In experimenting with them she ends up with some sort of troubles and has to figure out how to fix what she had done. In the end of every show Evie would talk with her father through the crystal and he would give her some great fatherly-alien advice.

Throughout the series Evie receives other powers to add to the mischief she gets into. Some of these powers are: having objects appear using her mind, her face changing colors in reference to her mood, teleportation of herself, and being able to stand temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius.

Here is a short video of the opening song and the characters in the show. Notice the man who is her father, you never really see all of his face.

Another FFC post with a show I don't remember. This just isn't my week, as you and Ryan both are featuring shows I don't remember. And here I thought I was a true TV addict! *L*

Sounds like a fun show! Not sure how I missed this one.

I'm actually stumped this time. The show and the character sounds like a lot of fun. I'm going to have to do some reasearch.

Alexia - I am surprised! I would have thought you would have known Ryans pick the Snorks. I don't think this show was a big one at the time. I know it says it ran from 87 to 91 but I don't remember it lasting that long on tv. Maybe they changed the time or something.

Ryan - WOW! I stumped YOU!?!? I find that hard to do. You are my encyclopedia for when I forget a name of a show or character. I would have thought you would have known this one no matter how low on the list it was. I don't think it was very popular so maybe it was on at the same time as something else.

Bryce - You remember this? I was starting to think I was the only one who watch it. Glad you remember it. Thanks for stopping by!

I loved this show! I had forgotten all about it. I wonder when this show ended...I think I want to look it up again now.

Deb - I am starting to think it must have been on at the same time as something else for all of you to have missed it.

Simcha - Glad to hear you remember it too! I was starting to worry about myself. If I didn't find the picture and song video I would be starting to think I made the show up. Thanks!
