Monday's Beginnings (99)

Well, its Monday... The weekend went very quickly.

I tried to get through a good bit this past week, and hope to get through some great books this week coming.  And have loads to do here as well.  I'm making the plans for my 2 Year Celebration here starting the week of July 25th.  :) I can't wait to share all these great posts with you all!

Okay, so what have I been doing and plan to do here in books...

Currently Reading:
Spectyr by Philippa Ballantine - Oh, I enjoyed the first book with Scorcha and Merrick and Raed.  And love seeing them all again.
Doubleblind by Ann Aguirre - This is for the Book Chat here on Thursdays.  We are working on the second hundred pages this week.

To Come This Week:
Reviews:
   Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa

Last Week:
Books I Finished:
Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa

Reviews Posted Last Week:
City of Ghosts by Stacia Kane
The Rebel Prince by Celine Kiernan

Podcast Reviews Last week:
Tales of the Archives - 7 ~ this one was two short listens, so only got one in this week.

I did write a Flash Fiction Friday last week too.  It was not of the world I've been enjoying lately, but another one I created here in a previous Flash Fiction, 'The Fathers Daughter'.  Do hope you enjoy reading them.

My WANT List...Hmmm, only 4 books added.  So I'm slacking.  Sorry!

Books Received:
For Review:
Goodreads Synopsis:
Though one of the most powerful Deacons, Sorcha Faris has a tarnished reputation to overcome, which is why she jumps at the chance to investigate a string of murders in the exotic city of Orithal. But it is there that her lover, the shapeshifting rival to the throne, is targeted by a cruel and vengeful goddess, unwittingly unleashed by the Emperor's sister.

Purchased:
So you know you are desperate to purchase a book when you are thinking of your children.  Yes, this book I purchased was with my son in mind for his AR reading next school year.
Goodreads Synopsis:
Imagine waking up one day in total darkness, unsure of where you are and unable to remember anything about yourself except your first name. You're in a bizarre place devoid of adults called the Glade. The Glade is an enclosed structure with a jail, a graveyard, a slaughterhouse, living quarters, and gardens. And no way out. Outside the Glade is the Maze, and every day some of the kids -- the Runners -- venture into the labyrinth, trying to map the ever-changing pattern of walls in an attempt to find an exit from this hellish place. So far, no one has figured it out. And not all of the Runners return from their daily exertions, victims of the maniacal Grievers, part animal, part mechanical killing machines.

Thomas is the newest arrival to the Glade in this Truman-meets-Lord of the Flies tale. A motley crew of half a dozen kids is all he has to guide him in this strange world. As soon as he arrives, unusual things begin to happen, and the others grow suspicious of him. Though the Maze seems somehow familiar to Thomas, he's unable to make sense of the place, despite his extraordinary abilities as a Runner. What is this place, and does Thomas hold the key to finding a way out?

I did however purchase some CD's this week.  Which is unusual for me but I just had to get them.
I had to have this double disk set as my old one disk has gone bad from all the years and usage.  And I need to have my Hotel California song... Melissa from Books & Things and Blodeuedd know why. ;D

Then I heard one song on the radio and just fell in love with it.  So just knew I would love the cd.

Would you like to hear the one song?  It probably wont be for everyone, but I liked it and well I'm on a fey kick lately with the brain.  (Don't ask.)

My plans this week are to finish Spectyr, and listen to #8 on the Podcasts at Tales from the Archives which is 2 parts.

How are you looking so far this week?  Does it look like a good reading week for you?

  1. If I Die Young makes me want to cry every time I hear it. I haven't heard the rest of the album, but I hope it's just as good!

Looks like you've also got a bunch of good reads on the horizon. I'll be looking forward to seeing what you think of them.

    Smiles!

  4. I have an Eagles best of comp. I think it is this one. I think the cover is different. :) The Band Perry reminds me of a band I cannot place at the moment.

I'm so glad you got Spectyr! You will love it!!

  5. Lori Strongin - It is a sad sound to the song, but I still love the picture drawn here to for some reason. I'm looking forward to all the books I have here waiting, thank you! :) Hope you have a great week!

StephanieD - The Band Perry with the female lead singer kind of reminds me some of Taylor Swift. And some of the songs have a young feel to them, late teen feel. But I really do enjoy the sound of the music and the voices. Glad you are excited about the 2 year Celebration. :) Glad to hear. Thank you!

Blodeuedd - So glad you like the song too! :) And hope you like the rest of the cd when you hear it. :)

Melissa (Books&Things) - Oh, I love the Eagles. I saw them in concert some years back, you know when I was young and wild. ;D But I had a single cd of their best and with it going bad from years of play and seeing this double cd one for the sale price I just had to have it. And I'm enjoying Spectyr. Now I'm going to focus on getting it done here this weekend. :)

  6. I have a full week of 10 hour days and not enough time in between lol. My plan is to work some more on the Iron Queen and one other book I've been working on. I will get an audiobook finished however with this current commute to work.

If I Die Young is a great tune btw! :)

  8. My plan this week is to finish Forever by Maggie Stiefvater, Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa, and start reading Nightshade and Wolfsbane by Andrea Cremer. I'm hoping to also finish my audio of Fool Moon by Jim Butcher and start in on Hexed by Kevin Hearne (I was reading Hexed but ended up grabbing the audio from Audible...I love the narrator :)

I LOVE the Eagles; I tend to listen to them more in the fall for some reason but they just have so many great, meaningful songs. Makes me wanna pull out my CD's too!
