The Gearheart: Artifice Ep 23 & 24

Darren
The Gearheart

By:  Alex White

Format:  Podcast; 27 minutes

Genre:  Fantasy

Episode:  23 of 37

Synopsis:
Jonathan desperately tries to formulate a plan, but Darren's past Comes back to haunt them.  Will Jonathan learn the truth?

My Thoughts & Summary:
Isabelle is lost in her mind with her body slowly decreasing, but she decides she will stay just to see Jonathan again.  Jonathan talks with the Queensmen, asking them to join his own force to get his friends out and kill Nicholas Antonello, but they refuse.  Jonathan storms in to see Isabelle, learns of Darren's secret past, which does not play out well.  Jonathan finally sees Isabelle's feeling for him, as she slips away from him.

It sounds as things are spinning out of control for Jonathan.  He knows what he wants, and needs to do, but at what cost and who will help him.  Jonathan is in a tough spot here with the Queensmen (at the end).  He called on Audun Slade once in the episode, and he refused to help.  But maybe he will show up to help in the end, as there are many things he needs to do as well.

But Isabelle!  This is a touching moment.  And she is fading, has faded.  I do hope someone helps her!  And Jonathan.  We have to have someone show up!

This episode is one with an ending that makes you want the next, a cliffhanger type.

Maeve
Format:  Podcast; 28 minutes

Episode:  24 of 37

Synopsis:
Keegan and Augustus hatch a rescue plan, and Agent Manners goes in custody.  Will she escape?

My Thoughts & Summary:
Isabelle might be trapped in her burning mind, but she hears the Queensmen that have shown up to take Jonathan.  Keegan, sits in a library remembering his life before he was a seeker, and his chapter as they are good people and wonderful at what the do, and makes a life decision.  But he to is interrupted in his thoughts by Special Agent Feldsten of Internal Affairs.    The whole chapter of his is been taken in, for investigation on treason.

Aaaahh, this is where Keegan breaks out of his law abiding way and puts all his faith in his crew, and what they need to do for the better -- for better or worse for them.  Keegan stands up for what he believes and not what the Seekers are pushing for.  I love Keegan and the strong power he possesses.  But this then brings me to a question as to, is there someone behind the arrest of the whole chapter?  Could their be someone trying to hold them back so the Hangman can take over as he is planning?

We also see Agent Maeve Manners, who is being "protected," and observed, from the men who saved her. We see what glyph she uses and what her power does.  I like this.  It fits her sound and looks.

But, will Agent Maeve go with Keegan?  And I'm still wondering about Jonathan!

  3. I'm a Jim Butcher fan and this story seems to be so similar to his Harry Dresden files :)

    1. Hmm, you know what Cherry, I've only read the first Harry Dresden book so I'm not sure if I can compare this to Jim Butcher's series yet. :) Which, I do need to get to reading more of Jim Butcher's books. :) Thank you!
