Let's talk about those books already on the shelves, yours or the stores.
I have a post for books I'm looking forward to coming out;
Looking Forward To...
But what about all those wonderful books that are ALREADY on the shelves.
Whether it be on your shelf waiting to be read or on the shelves in the stores waiting for you to give it a good home.
So, I thought I would share a book a week that is just waiting for me to travel through it's world.
Now... where do I start? Lets go by Published Date on the books...
This Week:
Aaaah, yes. I read the Immortal Instruments series and enjoyed the world and magic type created by Cassandra. So I picked up this first book of her other series set with the same style magic. I really do want to get to this one of these days.
Goodreads Synopsis:
Magic is dangerous--but love is more dangerous still.
When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.
Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.
Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by--and torn between--two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length...everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world...and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

I have flip-flopped with wanting to start these, and not wanting to start them. I will have to wait and see what you think.

Beth D. I was rather surprised with the Immortal Instruments trilogy. I was blown away by the world and magic style in City of Bones. And the third was my favorite with action and everything in one. I'm really curious to see what she has done with these in Infernal Devices. :) Thank you!
DeleteThis one is on my wish-list, but I haven't ordered it yet...
ReplyDeleteMirjam, I hear ya. I have so many on the list I want to get, and so many here on the shelves too. :) Thank you!

ReplyDeleteMissie, The Unread Reader - I took a long time to get to the Trilogy as well. I do want to get into this series too, it sounds so good, and with the magic I really enjoyed. :) Thank you, and glad to hear you enjoyed this one.
DeleteI haven't read any books by Cassandra Clare but so many people rave about these series...I do like a bit of steampunk though! :)
ReplyDeleteMel, I was rather surprised with her first trilogy. I went in thinking the hype would be the downfall, but I really enjoyed it. And I want to get into the steampunk feel with this magic as well. :) Thank you!
