Monday's Beginnings (84)

How are you faring at the beginning of this week?  Are you starting a new book or finishing one up?

Well, it's Monday.  And I'm only happy for it so I can get the next picture to see if I can continue the story I started Friday here on the blog.  :)  Other wise I'm back to work here, and I'd much rather be home reading.  As for the story I started Friday, I'm sorry.  I didn't mean to leave you hanging at the end of the story.  Truth be told, I didn't think anyone would really read it let alone like what they read.  So thank you to those who did read it and are waiting for more. :)  I will do my best to carry on with the story this Friday for you.  Are you curious about the first writing?  You are very welcome to stop by and read it HERE.  Please let me know what you thought. I do hope you enjoy it.

As for my reading... well, it's been a hectic weekend.  I didn't get much reading done.  And it all started Thursday.  So, yeah, I've been a little absent here as well.  My husbands uncle passed on and we did the funeral home thing Thursday night, and funeral Friday.  Then the weekend was all gone with running and visiting with family and friends for one reason or another.  Just crazy.  So I think the nice weather is around the corner with all the running we've been doing. :) It just has to be!

But, I'm currently working on; City of Glass by Cassandra Clare.  And I have to say I am LOVING it thus far!  And I will be finishing City of Glass this week.  I will be starting into Road Trip of the Living Dead by Mark Henry.  This book is the second in the Amanda Feral series and is for the Blog Book Chat!  If you would like to join us please do! We will be chatting on Thursday this week on the first section of the book. :)  Curious what the schedule is?  CLICK HERE.

What did I get done last week?  Well, I did finish Grimspace by Ann Aguirre.  And unfortunately since I was off the computer since really Thursday, I didn't get the review up like I wanted.  But, I will work on that review for this week.

I did get the review up for Zan-Gah book 2, And The Beautiful Country by Allan Richard Shickman.  If you would like to read the review, you can HERE.

I did find a cool new authors site last week and posted on it.  The site is called:  Evil League of Evil Writers.  They sound like so much fun and are a great group of people and authors.  I do hope you check them out.  You can see my post HERE as it gives you all the links to where the site is at and the name of the authors there.

As for my WANT list... I only added 8 books.  And I did add 2 book to my Curious About list.  But I will blame the crappy reading/book weekend as I didn't get to everyones blogs like I normally do.  So, sorry. :( I will try much harder this week. :)

For Review:
Goodreads Synopsis:
When a teenage brother and sister inherit secret metaphysical powers, they are unknowingly hunted by a group of clandestine immortals. While one of the siblings will reluctantly choose the path of righteousness, the other will defiantly dabble with the promise of true power and the darkness that accompanies it.

As David James begins his freshman year of high school, he learns that his older sister Danielle's popularity isn't genetic. However, their lives change dramatically with the discovery that they possess power which grants them vast unearthly abilities. The more they strive for reasonable normality, the more unstable their powers become when combined with the stresses of high school teenage life.

While jealousy, love, and anger unhinge their once typical lives, temptations to abuse their newfound gifts are manipulated by a shrouded and unyielding adversary who seeks to cast earth into a modern dark age.

Soon secrets will injure the ones they love as the burden of true power begins to isolate them. Not even the ominous prospect of a crumbling world matters when each of them finds that they are helpless to control their own desires.

Won:
I won this book from Miranda at Sweet Vernal Zephyr.  Thank you!! :)
Goodreads Synopsis:

Schuyler Van Alen wants an explanation for the mysterious deaths of young vampires. With her best friend, Oliver, Schuyler travels to Italy in the hope of finding the one man who can help—her grandfather. Meanwhile, back in New York, preparations are feverishly underway for the Four Hundred Ball, an exclusive gala hosted by the city's wealthy, powerful, and unhuman—a true Blue Blood affair.

But it's at the after-party, a masquerade ball thrown by the cunning Mimi Force, that the real danger lurks. Hidden behind the masks is a revelation that will forever change the course of a young vampire's destiny.

Rich with glamour, attitude, and vampire lore, this second installment in the Blue Bloods saga will leave readers thirsting for more.

Gifts:
My wonderful blogging friend Ziara from My Life In Not So Many Words... sent me a copy of this book.  Thank you Ziara!  I'm so excited to have this book and really look forward to reading it!
Goodreads Synopsis:
Celeste Jackson has fought all her life against a fog of hallucination and substance abuse, but it’s not until she meets her protector, Azrael, an angel who has left the safety of the Light, that she learns of the evil forces that have been trying to ruin her, and why. A fierce battle for control of the mortal realm is brewing, and only Celeste—with the help of theRemnant, her half-human, half-angel brethren—can stand in the way. Together, Celeste and Azrael must gather an army of sensitives to defeat the dark powers that have ruled humanity for centuries, but time is running out. If Azrael surrenders to his growing desire for Celeste, he risks being trapped among humanity forever. But the longer he stays, the harder she is to resist. To save the world, Celeste must draw on her own dark experiences with addiction to help Azrael overcome the one temptation that could possibly make him an eternal prisoner—his obsession with her.
