Thanks to the creative mind of Ryan at Wordsmithonia who started this on Wednesdays.
My Favorite Fictional Character this week is based off my absolute favorite Christmas movie ever... White Christmas. I know many of you have probably heard of it and may have even seen it millions of times. I just can't seem to get enough of this movie each year.
The picture to the top right may be one of the most recognizable pictures from the movie. This is from the end scene of the movie with the famous song White Christmas. These are the four main actors/actresses on the sides.
I do have to say I love both Bob Wallace (played Bing Crosby) and Phil Davis (played by Danny Kaye), the two characters complement each other very well through the movie with their slightly similiar yet completely different personalities. But of the two characters I have to say Phil Davis is my favorite. Thou both characters have a great sense of humor and are serious Phil seems to have more humor to him. He tries just about the whole way through the movie to pair Bob up with any woman to get him married and have nine children. Yes nine children! And the reason for nine is so Bob can spend just 5 minutes with each child it would give Phil 45 minutes to relax, and maybe get a massage. I loved the whole scene where Phil goes into this whole speech! See, they are producers and very successful singers with a show and always on the go to perform.
Another great scene by this duo is just after they meet the Haines Sisters. They let the girls go and Phil comes up with a great idea that Bob goes along with... Yep, you guessed it by the picture! They pretend to be the girls on stage lipsinging to a record. They really do look as they enjoy doing this little show as they are laughing as they do it.
But, a big part of this show is not just the fun and humor to it. The show does start with this duo as soldiers in the military. This is a rememberance to us who are not in the military that these men are out there away from home trying to get through the holidays as well. I just want to thank all soldiers everywhere in the world. You all fight for your country and don't get thanked enough.
After doing this post I am ready to watch White Christmas yet again. I wonder when it will be on again...
Does the Little Drummer Boy count? Thats my fav.... claymation - little drummer boy. Now that I am thinking about it... I think I want to blog about that before Christmas....LOL
ReplyDeleteSheila - Yes the Little Drummer Boy counts! I hope you do blog on it, I'll be looking for the post!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great reminder of two fantastic characters. This movie is one of my favorites and I will be watching it soon myself. Love the pics you used as well. You rock!
ReplyDeleteHey Ryan, Thanks! I just got such a kick out of their dance acting like the girls, they throw in some of their great humor with it. They really seemed to enjoy doing it too. Enjoy the show!
ReplyDeleteGreat pick! I love Danny Kaye! And Bing Crosby is always good. Will have to keep an eye out for it, as would love to watch it again. Thanks for the memories! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Alexia! Glad to share the memories. I can't wait for it to be on again. I watched it over the weekend at my dads while I was visiting, but I have to watch it a few times in a season. Hope you get to see it!
ReplyDeleteWe discussed this on tuesbooktalk...that it is one of my most favorite! I like Danny Kaye's character also, but I just love the sisters. I love their "Sisters" number...I guess they just remind me of my sister and I. We always sing the song if we're together during the holidays. This is the movie that made me start adoring Rosemary Clooney. She had such a beautiful voice. I think I'll watch this when I go to bed tonight...LOL!
ReplyDeleteAh, great pick !
ReplyDeleteMichelle - Yeah, After seeing the movie over the weekend and talking about it Tuesday, I just had to keep going with it. I guess it shows how much I love this movie. (Sorry) You and your sister have to be a hoot together. I would love to be around you two together. I think it would be a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte - Thanks for stopping by!
I love White Christmas!! I always put it on every year that I make Christmas cookies. I'm baking them today, so I was planning on popping in the DVD this afternoon while I'm in the kitchen!
