Throwback Thursday (9)

Let's talk about those books already on the shelves, yours or the stores.

I have a post for books I'm looking forward to coming out;
Looking Forward To...

But what about all those wonderful books that are ALREADY on the shelves?
Whether it be on your shelf waiting to be read or on the shelves in the stores waiting for you to give it a good home.

So, I thought I would share a book a week that is just waiting for me to travel through it's world.

Now... where do I start?  Lets go by Published Date on the books...

This Week:

This book has been on my shelf for some time now.  I went to a local used book store and found this book, thought it sounded good, so bought it.  But I have not read it yet as I didn't know at the time it was a second book in a series.  So, it has been waiting for me to get the first book and read it then dive in to this one.  I'm going to have to do that one of these days.

And yes, this is the cover I have.  I know the books have been re-issued with new covers, but this is the one I have.  And an amazing author from what I hear.

Goodreads Synopsis:
Slave. Swordwielder. Spy. Some girls have all the luck. When Rialla was young, slave traders from Darran ambushed her clan, killing all the men and enslaving the women and children. For years, Rialla lived in bondage, serving her master while waiting for a chance to escape. When that chance came, she made the best of it--and fled to the mercenary nation of Sianim . . . Now she can strike back at her former masters. A lord in Darran seeks to outlaw slavery--but there are plots to kill him before he can. Rialla is chosen by the spymaster of Sianim to prevent the murder--and is plunged into a world of deadly magic, where gods walk in human form. Where her most trusted companions are not what they claim. And where Rialla could be enslaved again . . . As a spy, Rialla realizes the danger of her mission. As a former slave, she realizes she has no choice.

  1. I love Patricia Briggs books but I don't have this one. I would like to though! Her Raven duology was very good - I read that last year and enjoyed it immensely. And of course her Mercy books are fabulous! :)

  2. Steal the Dragon actually looks really good! I like those kinda books. Have you ever read The Naming by Alison Croggon? That's sorta what this book's synopsis reminded me of. Happy reading!

    And I just wanted to quickly say THANK YOU! You are the best commenter in the world! :D

  4. I love the early Briggs books. They aren't as refined in writing as her later books but they are a lot of fun to read. They have a more traditional fantasy feel to them which I miss a lot with some of the more recent fantasy.
