Throwback Thursday (6)

Let's talk about those books already on the shelves, yours or the stores.

I have a post for books I'm looking forward to coming out;
Looking Forward To...

But what about all those wonderful books that are ALREADY on the shelves?
Whether it be on your shelf waiting to be read or on the shelves in the stores waiting for you to give it a good home.

So, I thought I would share a book a week that is just waiting for me to travel through it's world.

Now... where do I start?  On the the WANT List...

From all the blogs around, I have been sold on trying this series.  I've heard great things of this author and the series itself.  I don't have it yet, but hope to get the chance to get it some day here.  Thank you all!

Storm Front
By:  Jim Butcher

Goodreads Synopsis:
Harry Dresden--Wizard
Lost items found. Paranormal investigations.
Consulting. Advice. Reasonable rates.
No Love Potions, Endless Purses, Parties, or Other Entertainment.

Harry Dresden is the best at what he does. Well, technically, he's the only at what he does. So when the Chicago P.D. has a case that transcends mortal creativity or capability, they come to him for answers. For the "everyday" world is actually full of strange and magical things--and most of them don't play too well with humans. That's where Harry comes in. Takes a wizard to catch a--well, whatever.

There's just one problem. Business, to put it mildly, stinks. So when the police bring him in to consult on a grisly double murder committed with black magic, Harry's seeing dollar signs. But where there's magic, there's a black mage behind it. And now that mage knows Harry's name. And that's when things start to get... interesting.
Magic. It can get a guy killed.

  1. You HAVE to read Storm Front soon!!! I love the Dresden files - the world and the series get more detailed and better each time. One of the best UF series out there and there are plenty of books for you catch up on. You won't regret it! :-)

  2. This is another one of those book that everyone but me loves. After several unsuccessful attempts to read the book I ended listening to the audio version, which I enjoyed more.

  3. Mel - Hey! Thanks! I've heard that from so many people. :) My brother and I were just talking of this series about a week ago too. He said what he read of the one book was really good and he wants to go back and start at the beginning now. lol. Oh no there goes my book allowance. ;)

Melissa (Books&Things) - Oh, I hope you enjoy this when you get to it. I've heard a lot of people say how wonderful this series is.

Simcha - I remember you reading this book and having troubles with it. I've heard from some one that this wasn't the best book in the series that they get better after this one. I hope to give it a go at some point in the future. :)

  4. The Dresden Files are fantastic. ;) They improve as you go along, though, and the series really steps up after Fool Moon (the second book). Great choice!

  5. Jacob - I've heard so many great things on this series and my brother and I where just chatting about it as he read a book further down in the series and loved it. He's going to go back and start at the beginning. But another blogger mentioned the same thing as the books get better after the first or second book. Thanks! I also want to get his fantasy series he has too. It sounds great.
