How are you faring in reading at the beginning of this week? Are you starting a new book or finishing one up?
I'm hoping to have another great week this week. I know I don't get through as many books as many readers out there, but I feel as I'm getting through them at a good pace this past week or two. I didn't get much reading done over the weekend with trying to purchase appliances and such for the new house, but last week seemed pretty good. I did get done with reading Hell Fire by Ann Aguirre and Spellspam by Alma Alexander. I am looking forward to typing up these reviews. Hoping to get these posted toward the end of the week this week or over the weekend.
If you would like to join in with us on our discussion of Hell Fire, please do. We are still working on the chat. I think in part I'm still working on the chat. I've been busy this past week I didn't get to chat much, but hoping to resolve that this week. But, CLICK HERE to join in.
I did get a few reviews up this past week. I will list them here, and just click them to jump over and read them:
Tyger Tyger by Kersten Hamilton
The Cries for Vampira by Sean Robertson
I was a busy little thinker and blogger over the weekend. I signed up for a Secret Santa at Broke and Bookish. HERE. Then also asked if you could pick one book for the holidays, what would it be? HERE. I also posted a list of blogs for a book tour for the Never Tempt Danger. If you would like to check it out, click the book link on my left side bar or HERE. Remember there are going to be wonderful posts with/by the author, reviews, and giveaways. Have you seen what the next UF Blog Book Chat is going to be on? The Black London Series by Caitlin Kittredge! Stop by the post HERE to see the schedule - one book a week for three weeks.
My WANT list... well, I've only added 3 books this past week. And I have to say I can't believe it. I thought for sure I had added more than that. I don't know what the story is there. But thank you all!
Books Received Last Week:
For Review:
I'm on the Geist book blog tour. I will be reviewing the book here and Philippa Ballantine will be stopping by with a blog post on November 29th. I'm looking forward to her post, and I think you just might too. So remember to stop back by to check it out.
Goodreads Synopsis:
Between the living and the dead is the Order of the Deacons, protectors of the Empire, guardians against possession, sentinels enlisted to ward off the malevolent haunting of the geists...
Among the most powerful of the Order is Sorcha, now thrust into partnership with the novice Deacon, Merrick Chambers. They have been dispatched to the isolated village of Ulrich to aide the Priory with a surge of violent geist activity. With them is Raed Rossin, Pretender to the throne that Sorcha is sworn to protect, and bearer of a terrible curse.
But what greets them in the strange settlement is something far more predatory and more horrifying than any mere haunting. And as she uncovers a tradition of twisted rituals passed down through the dark reaches of history, Sorcha will be forced to reconsider everything she thinks she knows.
And if she makes it out of Ulrich alive, what in Hell is she returning to?
Another great book blog tour I'm on, as you may have seen the previous post, is Never Tempt Danger. This is another great book I am looking forward too. And I receive two copies of this book... what does that mean.... hmmm.... ;) Remember my blog post day with Denise is January 10, 2011!
Goodreads Synopsis:
Maureen thought her special gift was a curse. Maybe she's right-
As the one man who accepted her "gift" slid the diamond ring onto her shaky finger, Maureen saw his death flash in her mind an instant before the bullet struck. With blood on her hands and a government research project in the balance, Maureen-Gilly-Gillman does the only smart thing she can. She disappears. If there was one thing Maureen had learned, it was Never Tempt Danger.
Special agent Lucas Danger knows Maureen Gillman better than any other man. Assigned to find Gilly and her military robot prototype, Lucas discovers that his past has caught up with him. When the woman he loves collides with his secretive past, Lucas has to open his mind as well as his heart to save Maureen.
Who will get to her first?
I received a copy of this novella to review, and already got through it and the review up for you.
Goodreads Synopsis:

Well I think starting to get back into the swing of things. I think I was having a blogging slump lately, I've been having to force myself to get on there. I'm back in the mood and having fun with it again. Hope you are having a great week and I'll talk to you later.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm behind. :P Trying to play catch-up now, but it doesn't seem to be working yet. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are going to be busy for quite some time! Although it looks like you are still on top of things. Hope you have lots of fun reading time soon.
I just put Geist down on the TBR pile! I'm so excited that you're having her on. Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteHappy week!
Oh Ryan. I hope you had a nice hiatus from blogging. :) Sometimes we need to take short breaks and get some other things done too. :) But glad you are back and enjoying it again. :)
ReplyDeleteMelissa (Books&Things) LOL! I sooo hear you on the trying to catch up. It just never seems to work very well for me. :) Aaaa, I don't know if I would say I'm on top of everything. I just like to sound organized, but in reality I'm really not as much as I want to be. :) But I'm trying to get a bunch of stuff done so when I'm moving I wont feel so bad.
Spinecraker - :) I think I'm going to love Geist from what I've heard of the book. But we shall see. I hope you enjoy it as well. :)
It has been a crazy few weeks. My husband lost his job and I've been working as much as possible. Thankfully he quickly found another one and starts next week. Making less money so it will be interesting for a few months while we adjust. So reading/blogging has been taking a back seat. I am getting some done though. I managed to finish up 2 books this week and have started a 3rd. I hope things will start to settle down soon. My youngest turned 13 last week and my son turns 18 this Sunday. Like I said crazy, crazy days.
ReplyDeleteI hope your week goes well =)
Zia! I am so sorry to hear your husband lost his job. Glad to hear he found another one quickly, but it really stinks at a lower rate. I hope all works out for you all. And the kids birthdays so close. Oh. I do hope things pick up for you and I'll be here if you need to chat. Hope you stay well. :)
