News Flash!
I've briefly caught up with Philippa Ballantine, co-author of the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences, in the midst of all her Convention running and writing to learn of some great works in the process, and even starting to surface.
Please welcome Philippa with the warmth you always do and read on to see what she and Tee Morris have in store for us...
Venturing into the ether…99 cents at a time.
The Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences is expanding—moving beyond just the novel, and hopefully keeping people happy until the arrival of the second novel Of Cogs and Corsets in 2012.
We’ve been podcasting short stories set in the world of the Ministry for a few months now. Some of these stories are written by myself and Tee Morris, but others are by podcasting authors like Nathan Lowell, Jack Mangan and Phil Rossi. We let them explore the characters and world that we created, and gave them away for free.
But not everyone listens to podcasts (I know…I was shocked too!) and so Tee and I are taking the show on the road so to speak. All the stories that we are podcasting are being released as digital short stories. In the nineteenth century the favourite form of short fiction, was called the penny dreadful. It was cheap, and fun, and everywhere.
So the Ministry stories are going to be in the same. They will be available in all formats and for everyone at 99 cents. (As someone told me, that is cheaper than a soda). Right now they available in for the Nook and the Kindle, but gradually will filter out into the rest of the formats.
Not only that but we plan on bringing out never before seen fiction in the Ministry universe. Keep an eye out for YA fiction with the Ministry Seven, set before Miss Eliza D Braun met them, as well as some more of Wellington’s adventures.
