Well, it's Monday. And a holiday here in the US.
Hope everyone is enjoying their Monday, and if you are celebrating the holiday hope you are having a wonderful time. :)
I had an okay week last week. But got a lot of down time to relax. :) I've been off work as I mentioned for a surgery. Please no need to say anything, all is well and on the mends. It was not an unexpected one, it was planned and I'm all on the healing end ready to be back to normal. :) But it kind of put a damper on reading for two days, and a few days afterwards where I kept dozing off. *sigh* I really wanted to sneak tons of reading in this week with being off of work. I guess the body had other plans. (I just wish it would have relayed that to the brain before hand. geez, selfish.)
But I'm relaxing this holiday day with a book and will go visit my father later for dinner... was to be a cookout, but we got rain here so I'll see what happens when we get there.
Now on to the plans and what I got through last week...
Currently Reading:
Ada, Legend of a Healer by R.A. McDonald
To Come This Week:

I did write a Flash Fiction Friday. I was a little late on Friday getting it up, but I did it. :)

Goodreads Synosis:
Something’s rotten in the Fey lands. While Marcus Bramble tracks the lunatic who started it all, Elizabeth and the crew at the Embassy sort through the evidence he left behind. With Lockland back, and the revels behind her, Liz’s world is slowly returning to normal. But on both sides of the borders, shadow creatures spring out of nowhere, and the dark legends surrounding the fey take on a whole new meaning.
Now time is against them. On the mortal side of things, protesters rally to close the borders, politicians descend on the Embassy, and something that shouldn’t exist stalks Elizabeth through the city. In his world, Marcus faces a madman with answers he doesn’t want to hear. The Fey rulers turn a blind eye on forests teeming with imaginary monsters, and the Sidhe tower stands silent amidst the chaos. Will the race to uncover its secrets solve the mystery of the elves’ past or unleash even more horrors on them all?
Winnings:
I won this book over at Melissa's blog Books and Things. And yes, her habits of reading books out of order are wearing off on me. ;) Thank you Melissa!
Goodreads Synopsis:
Harm no human...
A hired gunslinger, William Jessup Brady lived his life with one foot in the grave. He believed that every life had a price. Until the day when he finally found a reason to live. In one single act of brutal betrayal, he lost everything, including his life. Brought back by a Greek goddess to be one of her Dark-Hunters, he gave his immortal soul for vengeance and swore he’d spend eternity protecting the humans he’d once considered prey.
Orphaned as a toddler, Abigail Yager was taken in by a family of vampires and raised on one belief- Dark-Hunters are the evil who prey on both their people and mankind, and they must all be destroyed. While protecting her adoptive race, she has spent her life eliminating the Dark-Hunters and training for the day when she meets the man who killed her family: Jess Brady.
A gun in the hand is worth two in the holster...
Jess has been charged with finding and terminating the creature who’s assassinating Dark-Hunters. The last thing he expects to find is a human face behind the killings, but when that face bears a striking resemblance to the one who murdered him centuries ago, he knows something evil is going on. He also knows he’s not the one who killed her parents. But Abigail refuses to believe the truth and is determined to see him dead once and for all.
Brought together by an angry god and chased by ancient enemies out to kill them both, they must find a way to overcome their mutual hatred or watch as one of the darkest of powers rises and kills both the races they’ve sworn to protect.
I received the first piece of a huge winning pack from author Skyla Dawn Cameron's site I had entered in. The first piece:
$25 gift card to Powell's Books!

I have started a challenge program with BastardBooks. And he has challenged me to read this book. But a little secret, and don't tell him, I've seen a review of this book by another blog I follow and thought it sounded good then so being challenged to reading this book was just the push I needed to get it. ;) And I'm looking forward to reading it. Yes, that is part of our goal to get us to read those books we take our time on, and to add some new mixes to the list as well.
Goodreads Synopsis:
Half-devil and miles from anything resembling heroic, perpetual underdog Frank “Triggaltheron” Trigg is the last man standing against Armageddon. As the favorite nephew of the Devil, Frank has led a troubled life, but he’d always had his uncle’s influence to fall back on. Now, with God and Lucifer coming to terms and leaving existence to fend for itself, his once exalted status of Anti-Christ-to-be does little to endear him to the hordes of angels and demons running amok in the Godless world.
With help from the members of DRAC, an organization of wizards, psychics, telepaths, and low-end supernatural beings, Frank must thwart the pro-Armageddon forces and rescue an angel in whose life rests the fate of humanity.
Better luck next time, humanity.
So another week is upon us. How are you faring at the beginning of this week? Does it look like a good week for you?
I'm hoping I'm over being so tired and can get on track and schedule this week with ease. And get some serious reading done. :)
Here's hoping you have a great week in words and pages.
Oh, music. Do you like the videos? I really haven't been listening to the radio this week. But if you like them let me know and I can share them with you weekly, with songs I enjoy listening to. :)

Hi Melissa
ReplyDeleteSo B. got you to try AB, I'll be looking forward to your thoughts about it.
Its one of my favorite debuts from the year before last, a fair warning though the protagonist isn't exactly a shy one :)
Mihir
Hi Mihir - Yeah B got me to get the book. :) But I had read a review on it some time ago and thought it sounded good, just never got it and didn't see it in the stores so missed it. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. And now I'm kind of curious about the main protagonist. I'll remember I've been warned. :) Thank you!
