I am with Briar around the year 1878 in Seattle Washington. We are in the walled city of about 2 square miles searching for her son. He snuck into the city to find proof. He is only fifteen and this city is no place for him, or us at that. With the Blight (a gas) still leaking thickly out of the broken ground it is hard to see and breathe with this gas mask on. We just barely escaped getting caught and eaten by the Blight zombies thanks to Jeremiah. Boy did he show up at the right time!

Teaser Tuesday
is a weekly event.
Sponsored by MizB of Should be Reading.
Here's how it works:
Grab the book you are currently reading (anything at all)
Open the book to any random page.
Share 2 "teaser" sentences from anywhere on the page.
Please Make Sure They Are Not Spoilers!
(Don't Give Too Much Away)
Just enough to pique our interests.
List the book and author so other participants can get their hand on it if they choose to read it as well.
This week:
The memory distracted her with its immediacy. The machine. The destruction downstairs when she'd run there, terrified and searching frantically for her husband. The smell of wet earth and mold; the raging hiss of steam pouring from cracks in the Boneshaker's body; the stink of burning oil and the wire-sharp taste of metal gears grinding themselves into smoke.

I want to read this book!
ReplyDeleteOh great teaser! I have this book sitting next to me. I'm trying to find time to fit it into my reading schedule, but I refuse to move it until it gets read.
ReplyDeleteLa Coccinelle - Hi! I am enjoying this book. The way the writing is done and I feel like I am constantly getting details, whether past or present ones. But I feel like I have a good sense of what is going on and I want to keep going with the book. I hope you get to get it. :)
ReplyDeleteZia - I am not quite yet half way and I am really enjoying it. The characters are really great, I feel pulled in by them at the beginning. This was one I kind of put off my self, well not put off just caught up with other books. Hope you get to it soon too.
ReplyDeleteThis book is something else, isn't it? It makes you SEE the scene, and smell it too, in this case. Great teaser!
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by my blog, too!
Wow, sounds exciting! I didn't realize their were zombies in the book. I haven't read any zombie books yet, though I guess they are cropping up all over now. Glad you're enjoying the book and I can't wait to read it myself!
ReplyDeleteHi Celi.a - I saw you where giving this book away, but I had already bought it or I would have entered. I am enjoying the story and the writing.
ReplyDeleteSimcha - Part of the reason I waited so long on the book was because there were because of the zombies. I hate to admit it but they are the one monster I really don't care for. I just usually have a hard time with them. I hope you enjoy the book when you get it.
Ooh that sounds like a good one!
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila! I am enjoying this book. It has taken me to long to get to it, but that seems to be my story these days. I am trying rather hard to get it done here this weekend. Thanks for stopping by!
