Sunday Post #100

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share new about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It has been another crazy week and with that, not much is getting done. I had the football team over for dinner Thursday night. Only 25 or so showed up, and only is an understatement as if I had more I wouldn't have had enough food ready lol. I cooked ALL day Thursday, with making cakes and rolls Wednesday evening. What was dinner? Mini meatloaves and mashed potatoes (from real potatoes that needed peeled and yes I did that too, about 20-25 pound). So my day was crazy. My back, feet, and right arm hurt so bad when I finally sat down at 8:30 that night to finally eat. I had started at 6 am that day. But the boys all had a great time and seemed to love the food. That was worth it. And when I heard from parents Friday saying how the boys were full and happy with the food and their time here the night before, well that made it all worth it.
So most of my week was preparing for this get together and cleaning up afterward. The weekend has breezed by with a blink of an eye with sports and all. I was hoping to get caught up on more emails and suck, but that didn't happen.
I did treat myself yesterday to watch the last three episodes of Agent Carter as a down time for me. It was nice. Now, if the first three episodes ever come out to be viewed again, I'll catch those. But I'm ready for the new season to start. I just wish I had more time to get caught up with Agents of Shield, Heroes, and X Files from years ago.
The Fit Booker:
Goal:  Workout in any form of exercise (or on Wii Fit) 2x's a week. (to feel better and hope to drop a few pants sizes)
How did I do last week... I did get to exercise this week.
I cut grass one day, in prep for the party! That's something. And who knows if cooking and cleaning all day for 14 1/2 hours counts as exercise. lol.
Episode ?:
I need time to walk again. I have been downloading the episodes each week so I have them, but haven't had the opportunity to walk and listen.
Goodreads Synopsis:
Crossing her boss will be one dangerous ride.
Katya Romanova gave up everything to work at the one-of-a-kind Steampunk Carnival, and she wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. Her elaborate costumes win her all the attention she seeks, including the sporadic affections of her boss, carnival owner William Warden.
But in the summer of 1887, death threats against Mr. Warden shake everyone’s sense of security. The unknown sender could harm them all. When Katya stirs up unexpected evidence proving Mr. Warden hid the carnival’s true origins, she realizes he aims to protect only himself. To return the spirit of fun and freedom to the place she loves, Katya sets out to replace Mr. Warden with the carnival’s inventor. As violent events erupt, Mr. Warden fights for strict control of his business and Katya’s loyalty. Trapped between his charm and his tyranny, Katya must pretend to comply even as she plots against him.
With the adoration of the entire country supporting Mr. Warden, nothing less than the perfect plan will succeed. One misplaced move could throw Katya’s best friend and new love into danger. Failing means neither she nor the establishment’s rightful owner ever sees the carnival again.
No Angel by Pippa Jay
Dark, sexy and charming, he's been top of his league for decades uncounted.
Until His Infernal Highness decides to send Lucien looking for a lost angel. Lucien has no idea what he did to deserve such a punishment, and the touch of an angel could destroy him. Yet the challenge and the potential kudos of seducing one of his former heavenly kin leads him on.
But when he finds the angel, he learns he still has more to lose than his already forsaken soul.
Wicked by Gregory Maguire
PICK UP AT AMAZON
Goodreads Synopsis:
When Dorothy triumphed over the Wicked Witch of the West in L. Frank Baum's classic tale we heard only her side of the story. But what about her arch-nemesis, the mysterious Witch? Where did she come from? How did she become so wicked? And what is the true nature of evil?
Gregory Maguire creates a fantasy world so rich and vivid that we will never look at Oz the same way again. Wicked is about a land where animals talk and strive to be treated like first-class citizens, Munchkinlanders seek the comfort of middle-class stability, and the Tin Man becomes a victim of domestic violence. And then there is the little green-skinned girl named Elphaba, who will grow up to become the infamous Wicked Witch of the West, a smart, prickly, and misunderstood creature who challenges all our preconceived notions about the nature of good and evil.
An astonishingly rich re-creation of the land of Oz, this book retells the story of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, who wasn't so wicked after all. Taking readers past the yellow brick road and into a phantasmagoric world rich with imagination and allegory, Gregory Maguire just might change the reputation of one of the most sinister characters in literature.
  4. That was quite a day you had with the team coming round! Erk! My house isn't big enough to have a dining table for four so I'd have had no chance of feeding them! Great to see that they enjoyed and appreciated it! You deserve a nice rest and some booky treats now!
