Sunday Post #10

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share new about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

~~~~~~~~~~
Aaah...It's Sunday?  *yawn*  Sorry, it's been another of those weekends.  I got up this morning and ended up curled up on the couch dozing all morning.  I just feel exhausted.  The whole weeks been that way.  Yesterday I helped my husband with outside work, and got sunburned to prove it.  Today, I don't want to move.
So, what's been going on?  Well, I'll start with Camp NaNoWriMo.  I topped out with 30,028 words (per nano, me it was 30,052 - always a slight difference in verifying)  WOW! Right?  My goal was 10k.  I did 20k more than expected. *beaming smile*  Yes, I'm proud of myself.  I'll be posting about it over at Challenged Writers on Monday or Tuesday, another blog I share with a friend about our writing trials.
As for reading...well, not much getting done with this exhaustion hanging over my head.  The book I was reading, wasn't agreeing with me so I had to put it down and pick up a new one.  The new one, I am LOVING!  I was hoping for more reading time this weekend, but well, house stuff has fallen behind with kids sports and then there is the outside stuff with the weather change. Ga! *throws hands up*  And allergies to boat.
AND! Now I have realized I didn't get ANY of my podcast listens in yet this weekend too. *sigh* I'll get to those today so I can post them this week.
This Week to Come on the Blog:
The Weekly Posts.  And....I'm not sure.  I think I'm out of review books to be posted.  I need to get reading and writing them.  But I will have a few podcast reviews of episodes this week.
Received Last Week:
Gifted & Won:
Hot Blooded by Amanda Carlson
Goodreads Synopsis:
It hasn't been the best week for Jessica McClain.
Her mate has been kidnapped by a Goddess hell-bent on revenge --- but Jessica is playing for keeps.
Because she's the only female werewolf in town...it comes with its own set of rules...and powers.
Aided by two vamps, two loyal Pack members, and one very reluctant human, Jessica must rescue her man while coming to terms with what being a wolf really means.
All in a day's work for a girl.
The second novel in the Jessica McClain series is a full on action adventure featuring one angry Goddess and plenty of monsters, demons, and a few newly risen beasties...
Shadow Sight by E.J. Stevens (in Audiobook)
Goodreads Synopsis:
Welcome to Harborsmouth, where monsters walk the streets
unseen by humans…except those with second sight, like Ivy Granger.
Some things are best left unseen...
Ivy Granger's second sight is finally giving her life purpose. Ivy and her best friend Jinx may not be raking in the dough, but their psychic detective agency pays the bills--most of the time. Their only worry is the boredom of a slow day and the occasional crazy client--until a demon walks through their door.
Demons are never a good sign...
A demon attorney representing the water fae? Stranger things have happened. And things are about to get very, very strange as a bloodthirsty nightmare hunts the city of Harborsmouth.
There's blood in the water...
Kelpies have a reputation for eating humans. Unfortunately, Kelpies are the clients. When an Unseelie faerie this evil stalks the waterways of your city, you have to make hard choices.
The lesser of two evils...
Freebies:
Dark Matter Heart by Nathan Wrann
Goodreads Synopsis:
A new town. A new school. A new beginning. Seventeen year-old Cordell Griffin and his mother move from Los Angeles to the Pacific Northwest to deal with his "allergies," and start a healthier new life. Cor has one goal: To blend in and be invisible. Unfortunately for him, no matter how far he goes, he can't run away from his secrets. Secrets about who he is. Secrets about why he's sick. And secrets about why so many people he meets end up dead, drained of blood.
In "Dark Matter Heart", the origin novel in the "Cor Griffin Bloodsuckers" Young Adult Paranormal Thriller series from filmmaker Nathan Wrann, Cor must uncover the mysteries of his past and conquer the secrets of the present in order to protect the girl of his future, and save himself
The King's Sword by A.J. Searle
Goodreads Synopsis:
Ronan Culley is just a blacksmith, or so he keeps telling himself. After being charged to make the King's Sword, he finds he must keep it from the dark forces of Sleagan and deliver it to the newly named King. Along with his apprentice and a healer who is more than what she seems, he embarks on a great journey that tests his determination and will, and makes him take a long hard look at himself and what he really holds important.
Saturday May 4th was free comic day!  So, when I took the kiddo to the mall, I stopped and picked up a few...
These first two are for my Step Father and son.  And in that order. LOL! Yes, my step father is a hug Spongebob fan and my son loves watching The Walking Dead.
The remaining four are for me:
Hmm, maybe that's what I can review this week.  A few comics I have here.  Would you all be up for that?
  7. You need today to recoup!!! That's the problem with Sundays for us bloggers - they end up the busiest day of the week, don't they?!?!?!
    Holy smokes on Camp NANO!!! You were completely swept up, huh? That's outstanding and congrats!! Who cares if you didn't read/listen last week - you deserve a little break so you don't get fried!!
    I like all your books this week, esp. the freebies, they look pretty interesting! And I wish I had heard about comic book day sooner or I would have planned a drive down to a store sooner (it's about 30 minutes away). I REALLY want to get into them!!!! Jackie @ Lit Escapism keeps selling me on them for my son :)
    Have a great week!!!
