Thoughts On: Avalon Revisited Ch 17-20

Avalon Revisited

By:  O.M. Grey

Genre:  Victorian Vampire Steampunk Romance

Chapter:  17-18

Format:  Podcast, 19:37 minutes

Book Synopsis:
Arthur has made his existence as a vampire bearable for over three hundred years by immersing himself in blood and debauchery.  Aboard an airship gala, he meets Avalon, an aspiring vampire slayer who sparks fire into Arthur's shriveled heart.  Together they try to solve the mystery of several horrendous murders on the dark streets of London.  Cultures clash and pressures rise in this sexy Steampunk Romance.

My Thoughts and Summary:
Chapter 17
Arthur decides to visit the brothel again, to make sure those two girls are really dead and not bringing any troubles around.  Then he checks on Avalon...

We see Arthur use his glamour to get in, but he gets spotted.  Even though he's covered and they don't have a face, they have a structure of a suspect now.

Arthur makes his way towards Avalon's apartment next, to check on her.  He can hear her sobbing.  Avalon answers her pebble tapped window.  She learns that no more, even Victor, would not rise.  Avalon tells Arthur, Victor deserves to be buried.  Feeling the love for Avalon through to his core, Arthur will do as she wishes.

Chapter 18
The next evening when he wakes, Arthur heads to Avalon's.  To his surprise Lady Bainsbridge is present with Avalon.

Oh, Emily Bainsbridge has a hard time seeing Arthur show up at her nieces home.  She gives Arthur a hard time with the innuendos she drops about him, and her and him.  Avalon takes the hint, and seems to have figured out what happened between them...or we think.

Now I'm curious if Emily has put a wedge between Avalon and Arthur?  But Arthur is rather pissed at and threatens Emily!  Oh she so deserves it.  So, will Avalon and Arthur really be together?  And what about the fact that he's still a vampire?  Oh, we have to go see this Dr. Lacey too.  Hmmm, much to come.

Chapter:  19-20

Format:  Podcast, 27:06

My Thoughts and Summary:
Chapter 19
Several weeks have past and Arthur calls every day on Avalon, with fresh cut flowers and a note.  She refuses and they return to his home.  He watches over her in the evenings as she goes over Victor's desk; cleaning, dusting, reading, and crying.  Arthur has now fallen into a depression himself, with the loss of his loves attentions.

Thomas and Cecil are worried about Arthur.  It's been a month since he's left the house.  He's not dressing or leaving the house now.  Cecil convinces Arthur to go out, he's looking transparent and needs to feed, try to get back the old days before he saw Avalon.  He goes out, but can't do anything...an embarrassing moment for Arthur, good thing no one sees or knows.

I was curious about the murders, if there had been any more with Arthur sulking at home.  And they had faded at this time.  Which further make me wonder about what they have to do with Arthur.  Arthur has taken the hit hard and I wonder what will come with him and Avalon.  Will she forgive him?

Chapter 20
Finally!  A letter returns from Avalon... "It's happening again."  The headlines today tells of another murder.  Nicklaus shows with friends, calling Arthur a vampire and the murderer.  He's put his clues together while Arthur was home love-sick, there were no more murders, and the first was with the Lady he was with.

Avalon is still in mourning and Dr Lacey is starting up again.  Arthur admits to Avalon his attentions were consumed by her.  Avalon acts guarded, then learn that she thinks of that night and Victor's death when she thinks of Arthur.  But we go on to learn about Fredrick, could be the very same in Victor's story about research.

We have two tasks to complete, and the couple separate to accomplish them.  Arthur to learn what came of new victims body, Avalon to learn more at the apocathey.  There is a little hope that something could bud between the two, yet there is a feeling of trouble to come with the case.  Are they going to be safe?
