Monday's Beginnings (103)

Well.  It's Monday.  Again.

The weekend went to fast for me.  Sorry I didn't post a Just For Thought post yesterday.  I was feeling blah and ended up taking a nap, which just didn't help.  So I curled up in bed and read until bed time.  Just had to hide some.  I know if I was on blogger visiting and all I would probably have felt better, but I just didn't.

I think Sunday night was the most reading I did all weekend.  I'm actually looking forward to school starting back up in hopes I get my weekend reading time back.  So I seem to be slacking lately with end of summer upon us.  Sorry.  I really want to get back into the swing of things here, soon.

So as for last week and what to expect this week...

Yes, I know.  I just keep running out of time!  I'm GOING to get back to these very soon.

I did write another Flash Fiction Friday last week.  And I ended the story I had going with John, Sinn, and Sheen.

My WANT list...I've added another 10 books! Yeah!  I'm really starting to pick up here.  But I don't know how I'm going to read them all.  :)  Thank you all for adding to this list.

Goodreads Synopsis:

Teagan, Finn, and Aiden have rescued Tea's and Aiden's father and have made it out of Mag Mell alive, bringing a few new friends with them. But The Dark Man's forces are hot on their heels. Back in Chicago, Teagan soon realizes that she is not the target of the goblins. In fact, the goblins call her princess, and call her to come out and play. Something is happening to her, and she suspects it’s an infection she picked up in Mag Mell. An infected cat-sídhe becomes her test subject, and Teagan is determined to cure it of the sickness that seems to rot its flesh. If she can find a cure for the cat-sídhe, then maybe there is hope for her.

Meanwhile, Kyle and Isabeau, Teagan’s goblin cousins, show up in her school, disguised as a substitute teacher and a foreign exchange student. They are sure she will come back to Mag Mell, as goblin blood is never passive. Once awoken, it will burn away every other aspect of her being, leaving her pure and solely goblin. When the process is complete, she will belong to Fear Doirich, the Dark Man. It is just a matter of time. In the meantime, Kyle and Isabeau are happy to entertain themselves by trying to seduce, kidnap, or kill Teagan’s family and friends.

Tea knows she doesn’t have much time left, and she refuses to leave Finn to be hunted to the death or her family to be tortured and killed. A wild Stormrider, born to rule and reign, is growing stronger inside her, but as long as she can hold on, she’s still Teagan Wylltson, who plans to be a veterinarian and who heals the sick and hurting. The disease that’s destroying her—that’s destroying them all—has a name: Fear Doirich.

And Teagan Wylltson is not going to let him win.

Purchased:
I HATE reading on my cell phone.  But I had to have this anthology for one story in it.  I so enjoy Carolyn Crane's Disillusionist trilogy so far and what she has created with the "magic" per say if you would like.  AND it was only $0.99, so couldn't pass it up.
Goodreads Synopsis:
Three all-new novellas of the supernatural and steampunk kind...

"The Blushing Bounder" by Meljean Brook

A Tale of the Iron Seas - While the search for a killer puts Constable Newberry’s life in danger, he faces a danger of another kind: to his heart, by the woman forced to marry him. What will it take for this prudish bounder to convince his wife to stay?

"Vixen" by Jill Myles

Miko’s denied her were-fox nature for far too long and turned her back on her vixen heritage. But when she meets two very sexy cat-shifters, she has to decide if she truly wants to give up on her frisky side, or embrace it. Because the were-fox in her doesn’t want to choose between both men…it wants them both.

"Kitten-tiger & the Monk" by Carolyn Crane

A Disillusionists Novella - Sophia Sidway, Midcity’s most dangerous memory revisionist, seeks out the mysterious Monk in the wasteland beneath the Tangle turnpike, hoping for redemption…but it turns out that the Monk is not all that pious, and the turnpike is no turnpike at all.

So, another week is upon us.  And I have big plans as usual.  (Doubt I'll get through them all, but I like to think big just to push me harder.)

How are you looking at the beginning of this week?  Does it look like a good reading week for you?

Here's to having a great week in words and pages.

And thought I'd leave you with a little music too, if you would like.  I enjoy this song and turn the radio up when I hear it.  I will get the cd one of these days too. :)  So, the video is a little weird, but I love the song itself.

  3. I hope you are feeling better now. Sometimes you just need to curl up in bed with a good book. I know that I am certainly looking forward to the school year starting again because having my kids underfoot all the time is starting to drive me mad. They are wonderful kids but they can certainly drive me crazy sometimes.

Hope you have a great week!
