Monday's Beginnings (45)

Here we are again... another Monday.  Although, this one doesn't feel like so for me.  My work was kind enough to give me today off for the 4th being Sunday.  So I am trying to play catch up with blog reading that I missed with all the running we have been doing.

So, how are you faring in reading at the beginning of this week?  Are you starting a new book of finishing one up?

I did get some reading done this morning.  But then I have spent the afternoon blog reading.  But, for reading and books... I did finish The Left Hand of God By Paul Hoffman last week and I finished Waking the Witch by Kelley Armstrong this morning.  Both reviews are in the works and hope to have them up here in a few days.  I am still pondering on the next read for me.  I am thinking of picking up The Crowded Shadows by Celine Kiernan.  I have read the first book and this on (the second) just came out on the first.  I am really looking forward to it.

I still have the contest going on for Tracking the Tempest by Nicole Peeler!  Go over to the interview and enter to win.  Nicole is graciously giving 1 luck commenter there a copy of the new release Tracking the Tempest!  I will be choosing the winner with random.org on the 11th.  Please stop by!  Here.

As for my Wishlist... I have added eight books this last week.  Thank you all for these great additions to the list!  Well, the authors should all be happy with the progress we are making here.  And everytime I read one book I buy at least two more. :)  Which brings me to the next items...

Books Received This Week:

Books I purchased:

This book was on my desired list as I read the first book, The Poison Throne, and just fell in love with it.  I have to see where my favorite three characters go next and what happens.  If you would like to read my review of The Poison Throne, click here.

Good Reads Synopsis:
Wynter Moorehawke travels alone and unprotected through bandit-infested forests, searching for the rebel prince Alberon. But many enemies are lurking in the shadows. It seems that every tyrant and zealot who has ever threatened the Kingdom is sending emissaries to meet Alberon. Wynter becomes increasingly nervous of the prince's intentions.

She is overjoyed when Razi and Christopher reappear, but where old friends go, old enemies soon follow and Wynter finds herself confronted with the infamous wolves, the Loup-Garous. It is to Christopher's adopted people, the Merron, that Wynter and Razi must now turn for sanctuary. But the Merron have sided with their mortal enemy, Marguerite Shirken. What is behind these strange alliances and is Alberon at the center of it all?

As many of you know I love reading anthologies, and fantasy books.  So when this one started to hit the web, well, I decided I NEEDED it.  Another book on my desired list.  And so I got it.

Book Synopsis from Goodreads:
Seventeen original tales of sword and sorcery penned by masters old and new

Elric . . . the Black Company . . . Majipoor. For years, these have been some of the names that have captured the hearts of generations of readers and embodied the sword and sorcery genre. And now some of the most beloved and bestselling fantasy writers working today deliver stunning all-new sword and sorcery stories in an anthology of small stakes but high action, grim humor mixed with gritty violence, fierce monsters and fabulous treasures, and, of course, swordplay. Don't miss the adventure of the decade!

Books I won:

I did win this one at Cecile's blog All I want and more... Yeah, Dane is a little more... steamy... than I normally read.  But I have to give it a try. :) And this sounds as good as any place to start.

Goodreads Synopsis:
When Dane Satyr approaches Eva for her services as a matchmaker, she offers him more than just introductions. Dane has discovered that Eva is a Satyr like himself, full of insatiable passion and dark desires. Their attraction combusts instantaneously, unlocking pleasures that neither can resist repeating...even as Eva seeks out a mortal bride for Dane.

So, how are you faring this week so far?  Does it look like a great reading week this week?

Here's to hoping you have a great week in words and pages.

  1. Well the cover of Dane is certainly intriguing =)This is my last week at home before going back to work, so I will be doing everything possible to relax and enjoy it.

I signed up for Net Galley after your post and am currently 3/4 of the way through Tyger Tyger and I'm really enjoying it. I also started Still Missing and it's looking like it will be an intense read.

I am spending my afternoon watching a cheesy 80's horror flick "April Fools Day". It's one I've seen a million times and yet I still love to watch it lol.

  2. Steamy sometimes is good. ;)

I just finished Dark and Disorderly and now I'm on the Cindy Pon book I won. I'm so enjoying it. :) I have a ton on the tbr. They suddenly started coming in, so I have a lot to review. Although, I'm sure I'll find my way to buying a book or two soon, even if it takes forever to get to it. :)

  4. Wow, you've got some great books here. I can't believe sequels are already coming out for some of the books that I have in my TBR pile but haven't yet gotten to. I had actually forgotten about The Poision Throne, although I really do want to read it.
Hope you enjoy whichever book it is that you decide to go with.

  5. Zia - Hope you have a great week at home! And congrats on the job. :) I am so glad you went over to NetGalley and signed up. Hope you enjoy the books. :) I have to say 80 flicks are the best. I still love going back and watching them.

Melissa - :) Sounds like a great book. I know the TBR pile. Mine is quickly growing, and I seem to have an addiction with buying the books... like some how I will not ever be able to find them again, so I keep buying. :) Oh well. Have a great week!

Ryan - I am confused. Some how your comment and Simcha's didn't post. I got the email but its MIA here. I'm going to have to look around again to make sure all is okay. Dane is a nice cover. ;) Hope you have a wonderful week!

Simcha - It is amazing how these books are coming out so fast. I am having a hard time keeping up anymore. :) So many books, so little time. I hope you enjoy The Poison Throne when you get to it. I decided to start into The Crowded Shadows, and so far (45 pages) am really happy I picked it. :) Have a great week!
