Synopsis:
Save the dragons, save the magic.
The world as we know it is at risk. My enemy Drakon plans to take all the world’s magic for himself, and he’s close to succeeding. Worse, he’ll kill the last living dragons to do it. Then the world will be at his mercy. According to fate, it’s up to me to stop him.
Fortunately, I know what Drakon plans. He needs the Stone of Synnaroe for his spell, so I have to beat him to it. It’s race against time, and I need to get there first. I’ll go through the realms of the gods—even hell itself, if that’s what it takes—because if I fail, it’s over. And we’re all doomed.
Forged in Magic is a fast-paced fantasy thriller with a kick-butt heroine, a tough hero, and magic that will knock your socks off.

My Thoughts and Summary:

Laurel brings the series home. Laurel has been with these ladies since the beginning and finishes with them. Laurel has become a staple in the lives of Cass, Del, and Nix for me. Her narration feels true to the characters in emotions.
Even in this book, what Nix goes through is a challenge to test her. It's all to make sure Nix is worthy of what she needs to do - protect the stone and stop Drakon to protect the world. Will she always pick the answer that's the right one to save everyone? It seems you can't change Nix's thinking on all things.
Nix has come a long way! She is so much more than what she ever expected of herself. And is more powerful than thought possible as well.
I have loved the growth of Nix and Ares's relationship throughout Nix's series of books. They are an amazing pair. And Ares has no problems stepping back and letting Nix be in the lead. Ares feels like a perfect match for Nix.
Nix knows she needs her friends around to help, even though she tries to leave them so they don't get hurt. In the end, having her friends with her, helping, makes all work. These friends are extremely loyal and powerful in their own rights. I enjoyed all in the cast of characters. I'm glad to hear there are books of some of these friends as I'm curious about them and would like to see them on their own adventures.
The book ties together the worries Nix, Cass, and Del have with living in Magic's Bend and what they are. They all have what feels like an ending here. We got lots of history about what they are as well. However, there is one small thread left open for future - a favor Nix is to do for another. But there are books out or coming that are centered around others in this world that are cool and I'm curious about. I hope to get to listen to them one day.

I like it when books have a varied cast and there are spinoff or other books that go into their lives as well. Makes the world feel alive. :)
ReplyDeleteGreg, It was fun with the different sisters as each set of books. Gives us the whole story through different eyes.
DeleteI started Cass's series on audio book and listened to the first two before taking a break. I liked the world but I'm sorry to say that the narrator's attempt at a Scottish accent (for Aiden) almost made my ears bleed...
ReplyDeleteI was a fan of Nix. Glad to know they all get their own books! I'll read them eventually I'm sure.
Hi Nicci. Sorry to hear the accent didn't work. It is cool that each sister gets their own set of books though. Hope you enjoy when you read them. :)
