Monday's Beginnings (110)

Not only is it Monday, but the beginning of another month... October.  We are coming dangerously close to the holidays and the end of the year.  Where did it go?  I thought we just started 2011...

Oh, well.  Time flies by so quickly.  I had a good weekend, I think.  I got 10" of hair cut off and getting ready to send it off to Locks of Love.  I always wanted to donate hair, and I finally got to do it.

I worked on a few projects coming up here in October, a few visits with maybe a giveaway coming with it... *whistles*  I didn't say that.  But reading was a little on the side as I needed to get stuff done for here and plans for the future.

So, what I did get done in books last week...

Currently Reading:
Devil's Business by Caitlin Kittredge - This book will be completed this week for the chat on Thursday.
Enclave by Ann Aguirre - Yes, it's taking forever.  And I'm trying to push my son to read more everyday so he can take his test.  And I'm wanting to read it faster too. ;)

Angels of Darkness, Short story Angel's Wolf by Nalini Singh
The Necromancer's Apprentice by R.M. Prioleau

After fending off an attack from an immense sea creature, the party is attacked by human flying machines. Shann and Rael, two of the four component carriers, are lost somewhere on the island, their fate unknown.

Will the Kelanni be able to reach the human weapon and disarm it? With time against them, they must battle to overcome internal conflicts and along the way uncover shocking new truths about themselves; about their enemies, the humans; and about the strange creature Boxx, whose ultimate purpose yet remains a mystery.

I do have high hopes for this week.  But we will see what happens, during the week seems to be harder to get through books than the weekends.  I've not hit lunch time yet, but I'm hoping to read then and keep the day going at a great pace.

How are you faring at the beginning of this week?  Does it look like a good reading week for you?

Here's to wishing you all the best in words and pages.

A song...This is a newer song by Adele hitting big play time on the radio and I'm hooked.  I'm going to have to go get the CD for my stack.  I'm really loving this blues-y sound.

  6. Still on Enclave, but at least you two are doing it together. :)

Maybe it would help if you two alternated play with reading.

Play an hour of video games together, preferably something with zombies, then returned to the book. It might make him get more excited about reading it?

It helps with my little cousins when I'm trying to get them to read.

  8. StephanieD - Oh, I wish I could take more out than I'm putting in. ;D Hope you have a great week this week.

Missie - That sounds like a great idea! We've tried all sorts of things to get him to keep going with all homework; reward system, taking away, schedules... and he does good for a day or two then off track he goes. And he's about to be a teen, so he's got a mind of his own... *sigh* But I really want to get into the book with him. I was hoping this would help. It did for about a week, than on he went again.

Simcha - I have it here to read in the ever growing stack. I just don't know when I'll get to it. *sigh* just not enough time in the world. :) Hope you have a great week!
