Flash Fiction Friday (22)

Dottie over at Tink's Place have come up with the idea for a Monday Morning Flash Fiction challenge. Each Monday a new picture prompt will be posted and if you choose to participate you post your story on Friday - 350 words, give or take.

I have to thank Blodeuedd at Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell for introducing me to this fun meme. I don't know if I'll be able to keep up with every week, but I'll give it a try from time to time.

The Image This Week:
Since everyone seemed to want more of Allyse, from 2 weeks ago, I did continue with her.  But I don't think we got very far...

By:  Melissa

She kept walking following the sporadically zigzagging bright stars of the fairies.  It seemed her legs should hurt from the long walk, but they didn't. No ache at all.  The air seemed foggy around Allyse as she went, fuzzy almost.

Finally Allyse walked through the edge of the brush into a clearing.  She stopped with a gasp and her hand flew to her mouth.  She couldn't believe her eyes!  The various disarray of dress the fairy folk where in.  In front of her stood a woman with wild hair looking as never been brushed, but what caught her attention was she had no top on.  Her hands were crossed in front of her holding a necklace with a strange pendent, but there was no top and just a slim shard of material wrapped around her waist.  Allyse was astounded by the view.  The fairy around the stream relaxing on logs, boulders, and grass were topless, bottomless, or completely nude.  She had never seen anything of the sort, people where highly private about their bodies and wore clothing covering neck to toe.  Yet she couldn't take her eyes away from the site in front of her.

The topless woman dropped her arms in a welcoming jester to Allyse, but Allyse just froze where she was.  She felt her face heat with embarrassment as the woman's bare chest shocked her.  The pendent on a long chain hung from the fairy's hand, she was offering it to Allyse and nodded her head for Allyse to take it.

Taking the necklace Allyse realized the pendent was of the sign of witches and demons then almost dropped it with disgust.  The fairy she had followed into the clearing whispered in her ear.  "This will help you here with us, so you don't get lost forever in the moonstruck state."

Some of the fey started dancing and spinning to the sounds of... music.  The air was full of music, by the water flowing over the stones keeping beat, the wind blowing through the trees and grass, the birds chirping melody, and the crickets chirping the song.  And Allyse started to feel relaxed, happy even.  She could join them in this fun time.  And she would!  This is what she wanted that people don't do, let lose and enjoy themselves and great company.  Off Allyse went to dance with some of the fey.

Hours later Allyse was still going strong, dancing and enjoying the fun the fairies had promised.  She looked around to see the sky starting to brighten.  The fairies where whispering and pointing at her and she couldn't figure out why.  Looking down Allyse realized her bodice was torn and hanging around waist and the dress was ripped in shreds and her legs could be seen through the layers of material.  Allyse was shocked, yet didn't seem to mind with the fey company.  Yet she didn't know how it happened.

The fairies turned and said it was time to bounce through the tree tops and run, so Allyse joined them in their daily running.  Not even thinking of her family back home.

The hunters returned daily to see how the young lady was doing.  They had been by every day for the last two mornings, and she hadn't moved.  Worried as she was paling in color, they would leave wild flowers by her side to show some one had cared, even though they never seemed to see family here.  Although, they did have to make a living as well.  But with out a guardian to watch over her frailing body they set traps to keep any prey from hurting her.

  1. I love the hunters, that they keep coming back. Fairies, however, can never be trusted.
