Book Blog Chat (8)...stop 2

Here we are again.  Stop 2 for The Mage in Black by Jaye Wells.

Are you enjoying the book yet?  Well, we have some questions to get us started.  Hope you will join in.

If you would like to refresh your memory of the discussion last week, stop by HERE.

Next week we will finish up the book! YEAH!

Do keep in mind if you have not read the book yet, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS.  In the questions very possibly and there will be spoilers in the comments.

Robyn's Questions:
1.  I still feel like we shouldn't be trusting Slade.  Could he be an innocent guy or is there something behind that innocent act?

2.  Who could be after Sabina?  Someone we know or someone we have yet to meet?  Why are they really after her?

3.  When will Maisie get her visions back?  Will it show the war and do you think Sabina will be apart of it?  What kind of vision do you think she'll have?
Melissa's Questions:
1.  Do you think Sabina will fall into the old patterens and end up in bed with Slade as he is a vampire and not with Adam as he is a mage?

2.  Could the Owl be the eyes for who ever is after Sabina?

3.  Could Sabina's connection with Slade and now Michael (the werewolf leader) be the start of her taking the lead of all the dark races, like predicted by Maisie?

Let us know your thoughts.  These questions are to get us started and we can discuss any additional thoughts you have.  Lets hear it!

  1. That darn owl just keeps popping up, doesn't it? I am starting to wonder if the owl is being used by someone who wants to hurt her. But here is the question, who?

If Slade behaves, haha. I think that could be the start of her taking the lead of all the dark races. I'm still not sure if we should trust Slade.

  2. Oh MY! I don't know where to start!

I'm trying to remember but I think Sabina sees that dreaded Owl both times right before she is attacked. I really wonder if that owl works for who ever is trying to hurt, stop, what ever to her.

I do think Michael is onto something in his chat with her though. Someone knows of the prophecy and that she is thought to be this leader, so what better way to foil it than to make them all hate her. But it seems to be backfiring. It draws them closer to her.

I do think Sabina and Michael now teaming up is a great start to her taking the lead. And even with Slade too. He is in a high position there in the city. ;)

And Sabina doesn't even realize she is making friends that are very powerful.

  3. I will say there is one person that really stood out to me at the beginnings of this section in which I DO NOT TRUST. It would be the little girl Rhea has with her. I feel bad for her for her parents were lost in the last book. But she strikes me as she wanted to stick around to hear what was going on with Sabina when she was hurt from that demon. But Rhea sent her out of the room for Sabina and Maisie. I'm just very curious about her.

  4. I just have to say I was SOOOOOO excited to hear Adam was coming back. :D Eeee. I think I was just as excited if not more than Sabina! lol. I really have missed him in this book.

Oh, and Giguhl! I LOVE Him as well! He is great. And I have to say Jaye relates the feel for him so well. I keep thinking like Sabina, of him being like our little kid. He really is an all grown up bad boy demon. But he is so lovable!

  5. Jaye really is in a league of her own in writing. I love the way she relates the characters. The secondary characters come across just as important as the main character. The story line just keeps going! There is always something happening, whether in way of action of information of the happenings.

    I love it!

  6. I'm a little nervous for Adam's return especially with Slade in the picture.

Do Slade and Adam know each other, I wonder?

How will Adam's reaction be to Slade when he sees Slade and Sabrina together or better yet, know they have a history together.

  7. I'm not sure about Slade yet. Although, I know for sure I DO NOT want him and Sabina together. I do hope Sabina doesn't fall back into her old thinking and think she can't be with Adam as he's a Mage and go to Slade. I want Sabina and Adam together. (Well, I want Adam, but Sabina can have him.) ;D

I'm not so sure if he really is innocent though. I'm afraid he has something up his sleeve for Giguhl and I don't like that feeling one bit. I think he is going to set him up or something. Even though right now Giguhl is the one reason Sabina keeps coming back to the club and he needs him, I just have a bad feeling about it.

Although his history with the Dominae also makes me curious. He did leave them...

  8. Oh, I think Adam and Slade know each other. Being the positions they are in and in the same city. Yes, they know each other. I think Adam will be slightly surprised to hear Sabina & Slade have a 'history' but I think he will be fine with the history. As I'm sure Adam has a history as well. But I do think he will have troubles with the way they act with each other now. Maisie picked up the flirting, so Adam will definitely see it and get irritated with Sabina. That might drive the stake in a little between them. Or even drive her to Slade. I hope not though!

  9. I do have a feeling that Slade does know the one way to get to Sabrina is through Giguhl.

That's true with his history and Dominae. So that could mean he does have some good in him, but how much?

  10. Let's hope Sabrina can be strong with both men in the room, lol.

This is part of me thinking that Adam could be the one that Sabrina hurts and not her sister.

  11. I've been thinking about who might be after Sabina....

I wonder if it is a Mage. One that would know of the prophecy from Maisie and knows enough to know Sabina's abilities.

Do you think their father could be behind this some how. Trying to stop a big war. Or is there someone out there trying to set the deck for the war?

I don't think the Vampires would work with the Mages (knowing their history) in order to get to Sabina. I'm more apt on it being a Mage.

  12. I think Adam is the one to get hurt too. I think there is going to be a something that will pull them apart before they get together.

  13. I have another question for you!

How do we know the attacks are just for Sabina? What about Maisie? What part does she play in the prophecy? She has to have an important part in all this as well.

I wonder if this person/people could be after both of the sisters. It just happens Maisie is harder to get to as she never leaves the compound. And the compound is so highly guarded they can't get to her. Sabina is easier to attack as she is always out and about, wondering around the city.

I'm worried about Maisie being at the club with Sabina. I know Sabina & Giguhl will guard her and Maisie is in disguise. But I really worry that she will get hurt or worse. Boy, will Sabina feel horrible then!

  14. You know I've been thinking about her father. I wonder if he is still out there. Maybe he does want to stop the war but would he hurt his own daughter?

I wonder about Maisie too. She hasn't been hurt yet but will she? If she doesn't have anything to do with the prophecy, would someone hurt her to get to Sabrina?

  15. Robyn's Questions:
    1. I still feel like we shouldn't be trusting Slade. Could he be an innocent guy or is there something behind that innocent act? I like him but yet...not sure if he's trustworthy. It's that whole bad guy thing drawing me to him

    2. Who could be after Sabina? Someone we know or someone we have yet to meet? Why are they really after her? This is a great question and I wish I had one clue as to who or why this is. Can't wait to find out though.

    Melissa's Questions:
    1. Do you think Sabina will fall into the old patterens and end up in bed with Slade as he is a vampire and not with Adam as he is a mage?I hope not. I do love Adam. I like Slade too but not for Sabina lol.

    2. Could the Owl be the eyes for who ever is after Sabina?I'm leaning towards no, but then again stranger things have happened.

    3. Could Sabina's connection with Slade and now Michael (the werewolf leader) be the start of her taking the lead of all the dark races, like predicted by Maisie?I was wondering the same thing. Definitely looks like it's heading that way.

I was telling Melissa this week that I want my own Giguhl. I just adore him!

I'm very leary of her too. She seems very much like an unruly teenager full of angst. A dangerous mix.

Maisie reminds me of a sheltered child but at the same time I wonder is she really that sheltered or if it's an act.

  17. I am curious to learn more about Michael and his pack. I wonder if we will.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I did some thinking today, lol. What if Michael is just using Sabrina. Maybe he wants to find some information out.

  19. Hey Robyn, oh their father...

I know you asked if he would want to hurt his own daughter. But, he really isn't hurting them. It seems like she is just being challenged. I know that demon in the subway very well could have hurt her. But, she has Giguhl and everyone knows that. He would die for her. Just a thought...

  20. Zia -

Oh Slade does have that bad by feel. And I'm so worried about Sabina in his presence! I really hope he doesn't screw things up.

That Owl really has me curious. I'm grasping at any and all straws to figure it out. :)

Oh, I think we all need a Giguhl! :D He is the best sidekick character I think I've ever really read.

  21. Zia, you know you are right about Maisie. She does seem like a sheltered kid, but yet she is very knowing of things that a sheltered kid shouldn't know. Hmmm, now you are making wonder on her.

I do hope we learn lots more on Micheal. I think he and his pack could be a tremendous ally to Sabina. She needs to play this one out just right, and she is on a great path now.

  22. Robyn, What do you think Michael is looking for? He does have his own agenda with working with Sabina as he doesn't like someone putting his pack in danger. But, do you think he might have more to give than that? Hmm, interesting thought. I might have to think on this one.

  23. You know I worry about Giguhl. He would protect Sabrina. I worry that something bad is going to happen. He has to be one of my favorite sidekicks.

  24. I think I've read too many books, haha. With Michael, I've seen characters like him. Where they act like they want to help or work together but before you know it, they go behind their back.

I really hope Michael is a good guy. I'm keeping my eye out for him.

For what he is looking for? I'm not sure. I think it depends on what he knows. Does he know about the prophecy? Maybe he knows who is behind the owl. Maybe it's him, haha.I can't wait to start the next section.
