Monday's Beginnings (2)

This is the beginning of a new week!

So, I am wondering: Where you are in your books or are you starting a new book for the new week? The beginning of the week always seems to be a great time to start anew. To me it seems to be the way Monday goes is a sign of how the week will follow. Have you been able to get much reading time in today? Or are you going to be rushed all week to get everything into the short 24 hour day?

I am still adding numerous books to my reading list. I think this week it has grown by four or five books. This really is a wonderful thing! You are all helping to keep me out of trouble and these wonderful authors in work.

Well, for me today:

I am still in my wonderful read of The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Yes, I know you are all probably tired of seeing this book on my site. I am sorry. I am reading slowly to enjoy and savor every word. Okay, I am just a slow reader... But I have slipped another great book in to break this one up some, The Crown Conspiracy, (the review is listed here further down if you would like to read it). I am reading The Name of the Wind with others for over at the Barnes and Noble bookclub, so this being said we have stopping points which we stop reading and discuss the book thus far. This does not help with my slow reading syndrome.

Anyhow, as for how the reading is going today... Very well. I got my lunch hour reading in and a few hours of reading this evening. Even though our bathroom is not yet completely back together, I feel this is going to be a wonderful week for reading. To me this week has started off at a wonderful pace (maybe that was the week off of work last week that has helped with my view...).

Let me know how the week is looking for you and enjoy your books.

  1. I'm hoping to finish up Any Given Doomsday tonight or tomorrow and I'm starting Frankenstein. When I finish "Doomsday", I will probably also start 206 Bones by Kathy Reichs. I'm also finished listening to The Looking Glass Wars on CD. So I'll be posting a couple of reviews this week!

  2. Sounds like a busy week! I am waiting to read you review on Doomsday. That book looks REALLY good. When you mentioned it before I had to go and look up the book online and the site looks wonderful and makes the book sound great. I have seen Frankenstein around in the stores lately also. I was half tempted to pick it up but didn't, so I am curious to read your review on that one also. I haven't hear of the other 2 so I will definitly keep an eye out for them. Thanks!

It's going to be a busy week.,

  4. Holy molly, Ryan! You are a reading machine! LOL!

Mel, you know I'm reading The Name of the Wind with you, but I was debating on starting another book.(by the way, I have posted on BandN, finally LOL) I was thinking about either Terry Pratchett's The DiscWorld series or The Blade Itself for the book club. What are you planning?

  5. Ryan! Wow, you really are moving on some books this week. Wow!

Hey Krista, I was thinking of the next book myself. I just tried to log onto B&N and having troubles was not able to get on. I will try again later. I didn't know what we were going to get into next. Hunger Games or The Blade Itself? I was thinking Hunger Games wondering if it would go quickly, but I didn't know what the threads for Sept are at B&N. If there is a thread for The Blade Itself I will jump to that one.

Are you done with the section of the Name of the Wind ending on page 416? I am so when you are ready for that section let me know, doesn't seem like to much there it discuss either though.

  6. I don't think there was any of the picks up for this month yet. I had a bit of trouble signing in to, but when I hit reply it signed me in, weird! I have no idea what they are doing over there!

I could go for either book. What would you like to read first The Hunger Games or The Blade itself? they both sound good to me!

Oh, and yes I put over on BandN that I was ready to move on so if you are then I am!

-I put my teaser tuesday up if you would like to stop by also!

  8. I'm still reading Under This Unbroken Sky during my lunch hour at work, so it's slow going. Started The Demon Inside for my home read, but am struggling to fit in any reading time at all as things have been so hectic around here! Very impressed with Ryan's list! Go Ryan! *L*

Can't wait to see how your bathroom turns out!

  9. Alexia,
I try to read during my lunch hour. Sometimes I seem to get far and others, well, not as far. I have been trying to fit the reading and online things all together in the evenings, along with all the running for kid and homework now. I am interested to see your reviews on these books when you get them done. They sound really good.

  10. I know what you mean about talking about the same book forever... seems like I did that with Alvor. I was constantly talking about getting to it... or starting it ... then reading it... LOL

I am now reading The Sign For Drowning. I am still in the very first pages but this is another read I have been looking forward to!

  11. That Alvor does look really good. I am going to have to pick that book up, your review got me hooked. The Sign for Drowning, I have not heard of that one. I will have to look into that one to see what it is.
