Yes, that is right. I'm going to celebrate for a week. Why you ask. Well it's my birthday. The blogs birthday. And it's fun.
Let me share. My birthday was August 3rd. The blog had a birthday at the end of July. Along with my wedding anniversary at the end of July. But what we are celebrating this week is the birthday of My World...in words and pages.
It's hard to believe it's been 5 years of blogging! It feels like I just started blogging a year or two ago. Then I think about all the amazing people I've found - bloggers, readers, and authors alike. All the people I enjoy talking to that I would never had met if it wasn't for this amazing thing called the internet. All the authors I've learned about, met, and read that I would never have known about. Wow. Amazing how this works and happens.
It's been an amazing journey the last five years. I've grown in the ways of books, grown in ways I wouldn't have thought about before the blog. The last five years have been the base for what has come to pass recently.
Each year becomes more outstanding than the previous, and I don't know how that is possible but it is. This year was an amazing year (once again) in meeting authors. Balticon... I saw so many I've grown fond of - many I've talked to for a while (previously online and for the last three years at Balticon) and meet. There have been many new faces and names who I plan on seeing for years to come. I've even found a few local conventions that I look forward to returning to. The Literary Festival and Confluence.
There are many things I've started this last year and a few more things to come in the future. This last year has brought me closer to my own need to write. I've been putting a lot of time in creating my own stories along with learning the path that works for me in re-writes and edits (still learning by the way). I've started content editing a branching out of what I do when I beta read. (if you are looking for a content editor, please drop by my editing page) I've been going to conventions, one that I've found is a home for me - Balticon. And this year was a huge step for me at Balticon as I was on panels, and GREATLY look forward to doing so for many years to come. As for the future, I have ideas for a podcast discussion site. And maybe if you are nice to me I'll add a few short stories that I've written to the verbal world. ;)
I'm thankful with the last year and look forward to many years to come of conversing with you all.
So, what do I have for you for the week?
Well, *rub hands together* I'm so glad you asked. I have a few awesome authors who will be visiting this week. I will be sharing the Top Lists with a few friends from the blogging world, you'll probably know them too. ;) And there will be giveaways, from the authors and myself. So I hope you return each day to see what will be here for you to check out.
