Camp NaNoWriMo...
Ready for a campfire story all? See that new image with link on my left sidebar there? Yep, I got talked into another NaNoWriMo month. Well, didn't take much talking really.
Yes, it seems I'm joining Camp NaNoWriMo this year for April. I'm keeping my word count low as there are lots of things that happen here in real life in April...mostly centered around kiddo. So my goal, 10k. Sounds doable seeing as Skyla suckered me out of 2,778 words on one Friday evening in a story idea I still had in the mental workings. Yes, 'Mental Workings' as I had no notes for it yet. Oh a few short things for the starts, but that was it. So, I'm hoping 10k could fly for a month.
Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Skyla Dawn Cameron seems to have found my weakness. I can't say no to a challenge, (no this wasn't a challenge) even a kind hearted one that someone wants me to just play along nicely. *sigh* But to me, in my mind, I WANT to rise to the possibility here. I WANT this. I WANT to keep writing, it might be shitty but I WANT to keep trying. I WILL keep going at it. And Skyla gives me that nudge every now and then. Love her for it. And NaNoWriMo gives me an excuse to do it. I've got a few ideas scribbled down on napkins here. One that I think is a short story that I might want to try and see what happens with it. So, that's what I'm doing. I might scrap it in the end, but I won't know if I like it until I try it. Sounds like as good a time as any to do that.
AND...I'm going to have to start making allllll soooorts of notes on other ideas I have flowing so I can live up to a possible writing project in the future. I've got a few ideas bouncing around this skull of mine, but nothing written down as I have to do research. Seems I'm going to have to get to that research sooner rather than later, which is great as it gives me a kick in the arse I need to keep going.
So, wish me luck for this little venture. Maybe I'll accomplish it in one week, and then knowing me I'll keep going. Or maybe I'll get through two short ideas, as I do have short novella thoughts on the current full length novel I'm working on too. Who knows what April will bring. We'll just have to wait and see.

Melissa (B&T) You are to kind to me. :) And so glad you enjoyed the shorts. I'm going to have to send you some stuff when I get to a point it's decent, just to keep you happy since I've been slacking on the Friday posts for you. :)
DeleteHave fun! I'm sure you'll reach those goals. I think it would be fun to write but writing is not for me lol I can't put things down, it's so hard for me to explain things and turn what's on my head into words.
ReplyDeleteOh Thank you Rivie Bleu. :) I'm hoping if nothing goes wrong in April all will be good, it's such a small number. :)
DeleteIt's hard some days to put things into words. I still struggle. :) Thank you.
Good luck Melissa! I was toying with the idea of joining this April myself...but I'm not sure. I have the one I finished November and I haven't even touched it for editing. I have some awesome ideas bouncing around though.
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you!
Thank you Michelle @ In Libris Veritas. I've been working at my November Nano. It's crazy to see what I did on the sprints. lol. But there is LOOOOOTS of work to be done. I was hoping to get through it this year, but don't know if that will happen. You totally should get back to yours. I work with another that did Nano with me and we do 1/2 hr re-writes 3 times a week, and what we can get in on weekends. It's great to have someone working at the same time as you.
DeleteApril is only going to be a 10k run for me as apposed to the 50k. I'm not ready to take on a full novel idea just yet. I'm hoping to have plans for November though. :)
Good luck to you and if you sign up, give me a shout. :)
