For Review:
Clockwork Mafia by Seleste DeLaney
Goodreads Synopsis:
Inventor Henrietta Mason is retiring from airships and adventuring to return home to Philadelphia. Determined to erase all trails leading to her late father's duplicity, she dismantles his lab and removes all records of the Badlands gold. While in the city, she can't resist the lure of a charity gala but winds up regretting the whole experience. Well, everything except a heart-racing dance with a certain U.S. Marshal.

His career and vengeance on the line, Carson Alexander must prove a connection between Senator Mason and the mafia. He lucked out happening across Mason's strikingly beautiful daughter, only to have her slip through his fingers. On a desperate hunt to track her down, he never expects his search to take him into the brutal Badlands.

With a mechanically enhanced enforcer after them, only Carson knows the extent of the danger they face. He'll have to win over Henrietta's trust, and her heart, before it's too late...

Sequel to Badlands.

64,000 words

Purchased:
In The Beginning by Philippa Ballantine
Amazon Synopsis:
This short story is set in the world of the Deacons of the Order, before the time of the novels, Geist, Spectyr, Wrayth and Harbinger.

It tells the story of the first day of the Break, when the undead come in the world of Arkaym, and the horror they bring with them. One small village is caught in the chaos of that day. Some will live, and some will find new purpose.

Gifted:
The Dreamer's Thread by Starla Huchton
(I wanted to look things up for teasers and such, and since listening Starla offered me the book when I asked for a teaser! Sweet!)
Goodreads Synopsis:
Everyone Dreams. But what would you do if you suddenly found out that you were one of the few who creates dreams for the whole world? Would you use your power to harness the light and weave it into beautiful tapestries of magic and wonder, or would you fall prey to the seductive siren song of darkness and nightmares? For artist Aura Mayville, this becomes a reality as she is ripped from her life.

Freebies:
(You can find most of the links to get these on Friday's Freebies and Deals post)
Spellbound by Cara Lynn Shultz
Goodreads Synopsis:
What's a girl to do when meeting The One means she's cursed to die a horrible death?
Life hasn't been easy on sixteen-year-old Emma Connor, so a new start in New York may be just the change she needs. But the posh Upper East Side prep school she has to attend? Not so much. Friendly faces are few and far between, except for one that she's irresistibly drawn to—Brendan Salinger, the guy with the rock-star good looks and the richest kid in school, who might just be her very own white knight.
But even when Brendan inexplicably turns cold, Emma can't stop staring. Ever since she laid eyes on him, strange things have been happening. Streetlamps go out wherever she walks, and Emma's been having the oddest dreams: visions of herself in past lives—visions that warn her to stay away from Brendan. Or else.

Flashy Fiction and Other Insane Tales by Jen Wylie and Sean Hayden
Goodreads Synopsis:
An anthology of the strange, bizarre, and just plain weird. Zombies, vampires, ghosts, and …crickets? Try a taste of writing from two very different fantasy authors. Flash stories are super short and perfect for when you ‘just have a minute’. This anthology contains 15 stories from authors Sean Hayden and Jen Wylie. Run the rampart of emotions in this exciting mix of tales. From humor to twisted, there is something for everyone. Contains adult language!

Devil's Kiss by Zoe Archer
Goodreads Synopsis:
A Handsome Devil1762. James Sherbourne, Earl of Whitney, is a gambling man. Not for the money. But for the thrill, the danger--and the company: Whit has become one of the infamous Hellraisers, losing himself in the chase for adventure and pleasure with his four closest friends.

Which was how Whit found himself in a gypsy encampment, betting against a lovely Romani girl. Zora Grey's smoky voice and sharp tongue entrance Whit nearly as much as her clever hands--watching them handle cards inspires thoughts of another kind...

Zora can't explain her attraction to the careless blue-eyed Whit. She also can't stop him and his Hellraisers from a fiendish curse: the power to grant their own hearts' desires, to chase their pleasures from the merely debauched to the truly diabolical. And if Zora can't save Whit, she still has to escape him. . .

  11. You've got a lot of interesting books there! I wish I knew how you manage to read *and* review so many. It seems to me that the more I blog, the less time I have to actually read. Enjoy all your new books, and thank you for stopping by The Bookwyrm’s Hoard earlier!

    1. Lark @ The Bookwyrm, yes, I'm sad to say most of the books I get free or purchase, I don't get to. I work to get through review books, but that stack has piled up on me here lately. I have an addiction to keep buying though. lol. I have a very hard time keeping up and have to divide my time so I don't get lost on the computer or not make it to the computer. :) Thank you for stopping!

    2. I know what you mean; I've got a (virtual) stack of review books to get through, myself. I can steel myself not to buy new hardcovers, but it's hard to hold back on freebies, used books, and on-sale ebooks, especially when they are books I've been meaning or wanting to read, or authors I love. Which is, of course, why I have almost an entire bookshelf (not a shelf, the whole unit, almost 6 feet tall) full of books I haven't read yet... and that's not counting the ones in my ereader. *sigh*
