Throwback Thursday (42)

Let's talk about those books already on the shelves, yours or the stores.

I have a post for books I'm looking forward to coming out;

Looking Forward To...
But what about all those wonderful books that are ALREADY on the shelves.

Whether it be on your shelf waiting to be read or on the shelves in the stores waiting for you to give it a good home.

So, I thought I would share a book a week that is just waiting for me to travel through it's world.

Now... where do I start? Lets go by Published Date on the books...

This Week:

I bought both the first and this book as well.  I liked the sounds of the world here.  And need to still get to the first book. *hang head in shame*  My son's even read the first book.  Yes, I'm just behind.

Goodreads Synopsis:
It is not a peaceful time in the Dells. The young King Nash clings to his throne while rebel lords in the north and south build armies to unseat him. The mountains and forests are filled with spies and thieves and lawless men.

This is where Fire lives. With a wild, irresistible appearance and hair the color of flame, Fire is the last remaining human monster. Equally hated and adored, she has the unique ability to control minds, but she guards her power, unwilling to steal the secrets of innocent people. Especially when she has so many of her own.

Then Prince Brigan comes to bring her to King City. The royal family needs her help to uncover the plot against the king. Far away from home, Fire begins to realize there's more to her power than she ever dreamed. Her power could save the kingdom.

If only she weren't afraid of becoming the monster her father was.

  1. Fire's a great read - I actually prefered it to Graceling! The owrld and idea of monsters is very different and I liked the style of the writing. You should definitely try to read it soon! :)

  3. *Hangs head in shame* I've had the first book, Graceling, in my home library since my first few months of blogging two years ago. I really need to read it, along with the other 3000 books. LOL!

Sorry I've been so MIA lately. Attempting NaNoWriMo and failing miserably, although I do have a nice start to my book. Hope all is well with you. =O)

  4. I have way too many books on my shelf waiting to be read. o: I think we're all like that, here in the blogosphere; buying books and in the mist of everything we should and want to read, forget about some of them. I should make some time for bookshelf ones only... Lol. It does sound interesting though! What did your son think? ;)

  5. Mel - you know I've heard a few people say the same about Fire and Graceling. I really like the sounds of this world... now I need to get to it some day. *sigh*

Melissa (Books&Things) - So glad I'm not the only one how needs to read these yet. I'm curious because of the mixed thoughts about these. :)

Michelle @ The True Book Addict - Hey! I know the feeling. I was looking over my poor shelves last night. I feel like I've been neglecting them and all the TBR books on them. I'm going to have to reorganize to refresh me of all I have. :) And no worries! I've been doing the Nano too, so I've been absent a lot too. I'm over 35,000 words now. :) And the best part is you like the starts of what you got, that makes it worth it. :)

Rebecca - Oh yes. That's how this post came to life. I felt bad for the books I buy and WANT to read desperately but time runs out of me as I buy faster than I read. lol. I'm waiting for my son to get to this book and tease me with it. He enjoyed Graceling and I keep telling him this one's here when he's ready. :) He liked Graceling, so I think he'll like this one too.

  6. LOVED this book. I remember reading it all at one pop and having a massive headache when I broke away because I'd been so invested in the book.

If I had more free time (ha!) or a smaller TBR pile, I'd totally reread this one again.

    Smiles!
