(Don't Give Too Much Away)
Just enough to pique our interests

This Week:

Deception was part of the talent with gates - that's why Hermes and Mercury and Loki and the gatemages from all the other Families were the ones most likely to have dealings with drowthers.  That's why they went by so many names - Eros and Cupid could always get into any bedroom.  God of Love indeed!  As if there were any such thing!

  5. Carols Notebook - :) So glad you liked the teaser. :) it is a great kind of cast here. :)

Melissa (Books&Things) - lol. Oh, you have had your fair share of books I was jealous of too. I hope you get to read this one some day.

Simcha - I'm not that far into the book yet. I really like the idea of the story and the magical set up. But, and this is probably just me, but there is something in Card's writing style I'm not sure about. I feel kind of confused, then find out what I'm thinking is correct once he clearifies it for me shortly after me getting confused. It's kind of weird. But I like the story. If that makes sense. And I'm not far in so I have a lot to go through, and maybe my thoughts will change once I get use to his writing style. :) Now your probably sorry you asked. :)

  6. I also enjoyed the magical aspects of the story, in particular the idea of the gates but I found the main character (
Danny?) to be unbearably annoying. I also wasn't impressed with the dialogue which didn't seem natural to me. Do teenage boys really refer to their underwear as tighty-whiteys?

  7. Simcha - I'm not really taken with Danny as well. He needs more... something. But I'm hoping that he will grow as a character in the series. Maybe that is the way to start with him, not really liking him. Oh, the tighty-whiteys, lol. Yeah, we use to use that term when the kid use to wear tighty whiteys. :D But, I don't know if many people really use it anymore.

I'm a little over 1/2 way now. So, I'm curious to see where we go.
