Monday's Beginnings (33)

Well, here we are again... another Monday!

I want to mention one piece of news, well... big news to me, I have hit and surpassed 100 Followers!  THANK YOU ALL!  You are all amazing followers.  So, my 100th follower is Stacy Stew from A Romantic Heart.  Thank you Stacy!  I am thinking on doing a contest here shortly to celebrate.  I will post it when I have the idea figured out.  Thank you all again!

Now...

How are you faring in reading at the beginning of this week?  Are you starting a new book for the week or finishing one up?

I am still working on the same books.  Please don't think there is anything wrong with these books.  I am actually enjoying them.  Before They Are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie is a read I am doing with a friend for discussions, so we have broke it up into four sections and read slower.  Strange Brew is an anthology so I am reading the short stories in between other reads for quick fillers and when out running around.

I did get through The Poison Throne by Celine Kiernan over the weekend, and the review is up as well.  Click here if you would like to read it.

As for my Wishing List... it grew this week by five books.  Two of these five is the remainder of the trilogy by Celine Kiernan.  I am looking forward to these books now.

Books I have received in the mail:

I won this book over at Fantasy Literature Fantasy Book Reviews.  Thank you!  The book synopsis is:

Jack Fletcher's heart is about to get punked.

Computer technician Jack Fletcher is no hero, despite his unwelcome reputation as one.  In fact, he's just been the victim of bizarre circumstances.  Like now.  His sister happens to disturb one of his nanoelectrical system experiments, and suddenly they aren't where they're supposed to be.  In fact, they're not sure where they are when...

...they wake up to find a woman with the reddest hair jack has ever seen - and a gun.  Octavia Pye is an Aerocorps captain with a whole lot of secrets, and she's not about to have her maiden voyage ruined by stowaways.  But the sparks flying between her and Jack just may cause her airship to combust, and ignite a passion that will forever change the world as she knows it.

I feel as if I have not got much reading done today.  I hope to get more reading done this evening for a short while before I head to bed.

So, now to you... How are you faring this week so far?  Does it look like a good reading week for you?

Here is to hoping you have a great week in words and pages.

  2. Thank you Michael! So glad you stopped by. I hope I help just a little in helping you reach higher. I am glad to be of any help. I do think the books are well worth the praise. And pleased to see you enjoy the quotes. I have taken them from some wonderous authors, you may have heard of them. ;) I liked the wisdom behind the words, they seem to strike true to me. Thank you again and best of luck to you.

From what I remember, Abercrombie's books are pretty hefty, too - I totally understand the pace, lol. Hope it all goes well this week :-)

  8. Ooh, a visit from Michael Sullivan, how cool is that??

Congratulations on all your followers! I also just topped 100, which felt really good because I was teetering on 99 for a couple of weeks and that's such an awkward number I kept hoping for just one more...

So how are you enjoying Before They are Hanged?
btw, how far are you from Philadelphia?

Simcha - Hi! Yes, very cool to have Michael stopping by. Thank you for the congrats. Well, congrats to you as well for breaking 100!!! I am enjoying the read, and more now that I am in the second quartter of the book. Philadelphia is on the other side of the state of me. It is about 5-6 hours on the turnpike for me. I am close to Pittsburgh. I did live in Harrisburgh for a while though.
