Sunday Post #87

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share new about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm feeling really tired today. I didn't do much yesterday and even took a nap. Today, well, I didn't want to get out of bed. I did, but I'm feeling a bit on the slow side. I'll get there, eventually. ;)
This week felt like a long week at work. I think it's because kiddo is out of school and I don't want to be at work. I miss the days of having the summer off. *sigh* Though, I don't really miss school.
There's not much to share in the way of life this week. It's going on as it should.
QUESTION FOR YOU:
What book review would you like to see live on the blog?
Pick from this list and let me know in the comments. I'll work the review up and post top pick from you this week.
The Fit Booker:
Goal:  Workout in any form of exercise (or on Wii Fit) 2x's a week. (to feel better and hope to drop a few pants sizes)
How did I do last week... I got two days of exercise in if we count push mowing the front yard for about 40 mins. I also made it to the treadmill for about 36 mins one day this week. I did a fast walk, slow jog type move and even picked up the pace some before the end. The treadmill said somewhere around 2 miles and 200 calories burned. (If that's true awesome, but I don't always believe the treadmill.)
I did try one of the apps I downloaded on my phone. It's the Zombie Run. It's free and makes the jog a bit fun with the small chatter of the people that have survived. It starts as you are a survivor of a plane crash and running for safety. They "guide" you. I also had  my Spotify music on and relaxed for the time on the treadmill. It was fun and I realized again how jogging can use all the muscles so well.
We'll see how Zombie Run does as it looks like it's only free for a few of the episodes and if you want more episodes with the people you have to purchase the app. I don't know how that will work out, but I'll keep you updated.
This Week to Come on the Blog:
I've still got to look at my schedule and set them to publish. But there will be two reviews go live this week.
Received Last Weeks:
Review & Review Consideration:
The Casebook of Esho St. Clair by Scott Roche
Goodreads Synopsis:
This book features two cases from the files of occult consulting detective Esho St. Claire.
The Gibbering Mr. Cravat
A rich man's son isn't Detective Esho St. Claire's usual sort of client. Bearing a hideous curse, Mr. Cravat begs him to find a way to discover its cause and reverse it if he can. The case will take him from the homes of Manhattan’s wealthy to the Undercity, where creatures of legend live.
The Elder Gods are using the money and power flowing through the upper echelon of society to stage a comeback, and poor Mr. Cravat is just the first victim. Esho and a whiskey fueled strongman named Sean Younger must stop their priesthood before the invasion is complete.
The Current Killer
Detective Esho St. Claire now has a ghost for client. Speaking through Nikola Tesla's ether recording machine, a man wants St. Claire to prove that Thomas Edison is guilty of his murder. The detective never thought that a case would have him dodging death rays, but nothing about this one is typical.
When he discovers magic is being tapped to make a super weapon, Detective St. Claire realizes that this job is even less straight-forward than he had thought. St. Claire and Tesla have to stop the techno-magical nightmare before it rips open the fabric of reality.
Billy and the Cloneasaurus by Stephen Kozeniewski
Goodreads Synopsis:
Six billion identical clones make up the entire population of Earth, and William 790-6 (57th Iteration) is exactly like everybody else. In his one year of life he will toil in suburban mediocrity and spend as much cash as possible in order to please his corporate masters. When 790’s first birthday (and scheduled execution) finally rolls around, a freak accident spares his life.
Living past his expiration date changes 790 profoundly. Unlike other clones he becomes capable of questioning the futility of his own existence. Seeking answers in the wilderness, he discovers a windmill with some very strange occupants, including a freakish, dinosaur-like monstrosity. Which is especially strange since every animal on earth is supposed to be extinct…
Dark, haunting, and blisteringly satirical, BILLY AND THE CLONEASAURUS is the story of one “man’s” attempt to finally become an individual in a world of copies.
AudioBooks:
Blood and Mistletoe by E.J. Stevens
Goodreads Synopsis:
Holidays are worse than a full moon for making people crazy. In Harborsmouth, where many of the residents are bloodsucking vampires or monstrous fae, the combination may prove deadly.
Ivy Granger, psychic private investigator, returns to the streets of Harborsmouth in this addition to the bestselling urban fantasy series.
Holidays are Hell, a point driven home when a certain demon attorney returns with information regarding a series of bloody murders. Five Harborsmouth residents have been killed and every victim has one thing in common—they are fae. Whoever is killing faeries must be stopped, but they only leave one clue behind—a piece of mistletoe floating in a pool of the victim's blood.
The holidays just got interesting. Too bad this case may drive Ivy mad before the New Year. Heck, she'll be lucky to survive Christmas.
Blood and Mistletoe is an Ivy Granger series novella.
Ghost Light by E.J. Stevens
Goodreads Synopsis:
Ivy Granger, psychic detective, thought she'd seen it all...until now.
With a vengeful lamia that only she can see on the city streets, reports of specters walking Harborsmouth cemeteries, and an angry mob of faerie clients at her office door, it's bound to be a long night. Add in an offense against the faerie courts and a few foolish bargains and one thing is clear—Ivy Granger is in some seriously deep trouble.
Ivy Granger is back, gathering clues in the darkest shadows of downtown Harborsmouth. With the lives of multiple clients on the line, she's in a race against time. Ivy finally has a lead to the whereabouts of the one person who can help her control her wisp abilities, but will she put the needs of her clients above her own?
If Ivy doesn't find a solution soon, she could wind up a ghost herself.
GHOST LIGHT is the second novel in the bestselling Ivy Granger urban fantasy series by E.J. Stevens.
Club Nexus by E.J. Stevens
Goodreads Synopsis:
A demon, an Unseelie faerie, and a vampire walk into a bar...
This Ivy Granger ebook special contains short stories set in Club Nexus, the hidden haunt of Harborsmouth's paranormal underworld.
ICED
A bargain gone wrong leads a highborn Unseelie faerie to life as an enslaved bartender with a taste for revenge.
DUSTED
Being a highly skilled predator doesn't necessarily put you at the top of the food chain at Club Nexus. A southern vampire with a hankering for blood and wanton violence may have bit off more than he can chew.
DEMONIZED
The demon attorney we love to hate has his eye on a certain rockabilly human. Too bad she's brought a crossbow loaded with holy water dipped bolts for this night on the town.
JINXED
Just when Jinx needs a carefree girl's night out with Ivy, a smoking hot demon tries to buy her a drink. She really is the unluckiest human on the planet.
The Time Stopper by Dima Zales
Goodreads Synopsis:
From a USA Today bestselling author comes a novelette in the Mind Dimensions series. This short story does not require you to have read the other books in the series.
I can stop time, but I can’t change anything.
I can access memories, but not far enough.
My name is Mira, and my life is about finding the Russian mobster who killed my family.
Starlander's Myth by Melisse Aires
Goodreads Synopsis:
Asteroid miner Jack Starlander stumbles upon the illegal sale of a woman and child with unusual abilities. Jack once fought to free slaves and can't abide slavers. In the ensuing shoot out, two important men die. Jack, Sophie, her daughter and Jack's close neighbors are forced to flee to safety. Their journey takes them into deadly danger.
An Antiquarian with her own ancient secret, Sophie knows old stories may seem fantastical but have a core of truth. She recognizes the mythic thread in the old Starlander legend. Perhaps his family's myth can save them.
Stories on the Go: 101 Very Short Stories edited by Andrew Ashling
Goodreads Synopsis:
This anthology aims to be a showcase of recent indie writing.
Hugh Howey launched the idea on Kboards, a forum for Kindle readers, but also the meeting place of an active community of indie writers.
The result is this anthology of 101 very short stories by 101 authors.
To make it more attractive for you, the reader, we set ourselves a limit of a thousand words. You should be able to read each story in under five minutes — on your desktop computer, laptop, or tablet at home or in the office, but also on your smartphone, on the go, while you are commuting or waiting at a coffee shop for your significant other to arrive.
We included as many genres as we could. We hope that maybe, with only five minutes of your time on the line that would otherwise be wasted anyway, you'll be tempted to venture outside your comfort zone and try out some new genres and new authors.
Beggars in Spain by Nancy Kress
Goodreads Synopsis:
In this future, some people need no sleep at all. Leisha Camden was genetically modified at birth to require no sleep, and her normal twin Alice is the control. Problems and envy between the sisters mirror those in the larger world, as society struggles to adjust to a growing pool of people who not only have 30 percent more time to work and study than normal humans, but are also highly intelligent and in perfect health.
The Sleepless gradually outgrow their welcome on Earth, and their children escape to an orbiting space station to set up their own society. But Leisha and a few others remain behind, preaching acceptance for all humans, Sleepless and Sleeper alike. With the conspiracy and revenge that unwinds, the world needs a little preaching on tolerance.
