Monday's Beginnings (90)

So, it's Monday...

How are you faring at the beginning of this week?  Are you starting a new book or finishing one up?

I do hope everyone is doing well and didn't lose to much with the blogger issues on Thursday and Friday.  I know I did lose some comments that a few faithful followers made, but at least I didn't lose any posts or followers. :)

It's looking like I'm going to have a rough week in read this week.  Tuesday night is my son's choral concert.  Thursday is school picnic.  And Friday, I took off of work to relax after the school picnic but it's looking like I'm going to have to help my husband work on the deck he is building.  *sigh* Looks like I'm going to be a little on the minimal side with reading books.  I'm going to work hard to get through one book and partly through another.

Currently Reading:
Shady Lady by Ann Aguirre ~ This is for the Blog Book Chats with Robyn at The Bookoholic Zone.  We did the half way chat on Thursday, last week.  And the finishing of the book will be this week here.  I do hope you'll join us.
Bloodlines by Skyla Dawn Cameron ~ I just started it yesterday and only about 25 pages in, but I have to say I really like Zara. :)  But I'm hoping to be working on this book Thursday morning and Friday through the weekend.

Books I Finished:
Phoenix Rising: A Ministry of Peculiar Occurrence Novel by Pip Ballantine & Tee Morris ~ I finished this one up on Saturday and was excited to post the review for it today already. :) If anyone has read this one and would like to chat on it PLEASE let me know!  I have loads to say and ask thoughts on. lol.

Reviews Posted this Past Week: (click title to jump over to read review)
   Winter's Passage by Julie Kagawa
Phoenix Rising: A Ministry of Peculiar Occurrence Novel by Pip Ballantine & Tee Morris

Reviews to Work on this Week:
Shady Lady by Ann Aguirre ~ When I get finished this week by Wednesday night.

I didn't write a Flash Fiction Friday last week as blogger was down and I also lost time somewhere and didn't get to write one.

As for my WANT list... um, well... I've only added 4 books this past week.  I've really been holding back on adding to this list.  I feel bad as I'm trying to not spend any money with all we have going on.

Goodreads Synopsis:
Re-join famous detectives, adventurers and general rum-goings-on putter-stopperers Dalton Quayle and his sidekick Dr. Humphrey Pemberton as they embark on some of their best, and most loved, investigations from the past decade. Thrill as they face giant carnivorous worms and fiercely vicious monster sheep; marvel as they visit far-off lands such as the Island of Haintithot and the sandy dunes of Egypt, coming across magical stones which can summon demons and a Mummy out to take over the world; gasp in disbelief as our heroes set sail to find the legendary lost city of Matalantis -- by way of the fishy village of Outsmouth -- and get saddle-sore in the Wild West as they attempt to put a stop to a devilish time traveling scheme; then, witness the dead coming back to life as the pair tackle their most dangerous foes yet -- ones which simply cannot be killed! Villains, monsters, twisted conundrums, they're all in here: In the very finest Adventures of Dalton Quayle (as previously noted down on the memoirs of Dr. Pemberton and subsequently published in Strump magazine). From the fevered imagination of award-winning author Paul Kane (FunnyBones, Arrowhead, The Lazarus Condition, The Hellraiser Films and their Legacy) comes a collection of stories that will make you laugh, cry (with laughter), then laugh some more. Humorous horrors to brighten the day of even the most discerning genre connoisseur.

Goodreads Synopsis:
Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It’s gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie’s estranged father—an elusive European warlock—only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it’s her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.

By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.

As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.
I'm still on the book buying hiatus!  Rest assure.  I've purchased a few books on the discount shelves, but I'm really trying to watch.

So, I have a big week in... running.  But I'm hoping for still a nice week in books.  Keep your fingers crossed for me. :)

How are you looking so far this week?  Does it look like a good reading week for you?

Here's to wishing you all the best in words and pages.

Blodeuedd - Oh, I'm already thinking on the new pic. It is amazing! And I have an idea, so I'm going to try to come up with something early this week and schedule the post to go Friday. At least that is the plan at the moment. :)
