Monday's Beginnings (88)

So, it's Monday...

How are you faring at the beginning of this week?  Are you starting a new book or finishing one up?

I did a read-a-thon last week for Spring's Serenity Read-a-thon.  And posted my wrap-up progress HERE.  But I'm pretty happy with myself.  Knowing I work full time and the Birthday party sleep over for my son on Saturday and the Grandparents coming Sunday, I set the bar a little low for myself.  So I did hit that goal and past it.  I was hoping for a lot more, but I'm good with what I did get done. :)

But all that being said, no I didn't get as much weekend reading as I had hoped.  The kids had my head spinning! lol.  But, I'm working on another great week this week and have loads lined up for myself.

Books I Finished:
Iron King by Julie Kagawa ~ I was reading this one casually with a few fellow readers on Twitter and we were chatting away as we went.  I will be going on with this series as well. ;)
A Moth in Darkness by Frances Pauli ~ I read this book for review, and found myself enjoying this read as well.

Currently Reading:
The Sweet Scent of Blood by Suzanne McLeod ~ This one is with a fellow blogger in which we will review and chat together, WonderBunny at Cookies, Books, and Bikes.

Reviews Posted this Past Week: (click title to jump over to read review)
Road Trip of the Living Dead by Mark Henry
   Green-Eyed Demon by Jaye Wells

Reviews to Work on this Week:
A Moth in Darkness by Frances Pauli
   Iron King by Julie Kagawa

DON'T FORGET ~ We did the chat for Green-Eyed Demon by Jaye Wells last week as well.  You are always welcome to still stop by!  I still have a few things to mention in the chat but haven't made it on line over the weekend.  CLICK HERE.

I also wrote a Flash Fiction Friday.  If you would like to read it you can do so HERE.

As for my WANT list... I added 10 books this past week!  Well, not many, but better than last week. lol.  Oh, this list is getting way out of hand.  Any one have any speed reading courses they would like to share. ;)

Books Received:
For Review:
Goodreads Synopsis:
After three hundred years of unlife, vampire Zara Lain has seemingly done it all, and she's now making a living as a successful thief-turned-assassin. Her newest assignment seems simple enough--kill the aging leader of the O'Connor Coven and his only heir, and she'll have another ten million in the bank.

But in the dangerous world of the supernatural, few things are ever "simple."

When a massive assault decimates the continent's population of powerful witches and warlocks, and its orchestrator has vampires being hunted down and captured, Zara realizes the tables have turned and now she'll be playing the hero. Forced to join with a smart-mouthed fellow vampire, a demonologist who's also a fan of hers, a recently widowed--and frequently brooding--warlock, and her best friend's mom, Zara's grudgingly willing to do what she can to save the day.

If only people would stop ruining all her outfits...

Goodreads Synopsis:

Evil is most assuredly afoot—and Britain’s fate rests in the hands of an alluring renegade . . . and a librarian.

These are dark days indeed in Victoria’s England. Londoners are vanishing, then reappearing, washing up as corpses on the banks of the Thames, drained of blood and bone. Yet the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences—the Crown’s clandestine organization whose bailiwick is the strange and unsettling—will not allow its agents to investigate. Fearless and exceedingly lovely Eliza D. Braun, however, with her bulletproof corset and a disturbing fondness for dynamite, refuses to let the matter rest . . . and she’s prepared to drag her timorous new partner, Wellington Books, along with her into the perilous fray.

For a malevolent brotherhood is operating in the deepening London shadows, intent upon the enslavement of all Britons. And Books and Braun—he with his encyclopedic brain and she with her remarkable devices—must get to the twisted roots of a most nefarious plot . . . or see England fall to the Phoenix!

Purchased:
This one was a guilty pleasure purchase as I have really enjoyed reading the authors other series.
Goodreads Synopsis:
New York City has been decimated by war and plague, and most of civilization has migrated to underground enclaves, where life expectancy is no more than the early 20's. When Deuce turns 15, she takes on her role as a Huntress, and is paired with Fade, a teenage Hunter who lived Topside as a young boy. When she and Fade discover that the neighboring enclave has been decimated by the tunnel monsters—or Freaks—who seem to be growing more organized, the elders refuse to listen to warnings. And when Deuce and Fade are exiled from the enclave, the girl born in darkness must survive in daylight, in the ruins of a city whose population has dwindled to a few dangerous gangs. As the two are guided by Fade’s long-ago memories, they face dangers, and feelings, unlike any they’ve ever known.

So much for my book buying hiatus right!  Well, I purchased this one on line before I went on the hiatus. ;P But I am addicted and do need to stop myself for a little while.  I'm going to have to tie up my fingers or something. lol.

So, I did get some reading done on lunch hour and hope to get a little bit done tonight. But I need to get caught up with some blog visits as I've been off all weekend and do a few things at home.  But my mom is stopping over to wish the kid a happy Birthday.  So, another short night for me. :)

How are you looking so far this week?  Does it look like a good reading week for you?

Here's to wishing you all the best in words and pages.
