There are so many amazing books already on the shelves and new ones coming out.

For a list of books yet to be released I'm looking to get, you can also look on my right Sidebar at the ever growing list titled Desired Reads - just scroll down. Of course there are tones of other new books to come out that are amazing as well, but these ones are part of series I have already started or for one reason or another caught my eye (and haven't seen much on other blogs yet). But I will highlight one here each week.

(mentioned in order of Release Date then Alphabetical if there are more than one book coming out on the same date.)

It's been a while since I've done one of these Friday Looking Forward posts.  And I miss doing them.

Okay, so I've read and reviewed this one already.  That's okay, because I HAVE TO HAVE! that book on my physical shelves.  Yep.  That good and that beautiful of a cover!

Goodreads Synopsis:
Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other twenty-something girls—with one tiny exception: They are the products of a curse that backfired and gave each of them unique powers that made them, well, a little weird…

After Celia Wird and her sisters help master vampire Misha save his family, their powers are exposed to the supernatural community of the Lake Tahoe region. But fame comes at a price, and being “weird” isn’t always welcome.

To make matters worse, Celia desires the love of Alpha werewolf Aric, but his pack is bent on destroying their relationship to preserve his pureblood status. And once weres start turning up dead—with evidence pointing to the vampires—she must face the prospect of losing Aric forever. But the chaos only masks a new threat. An evil known as the Tribe has risen—and their sights are set on Celia and her sisters.

Book Review: A Cursed Embrace & GIVEAWAY!

A Cursed Embrace

By:  Cecy Robson

Publish Date:  July 2, 2013

Format:  ARC

Genre:  Urban Fantasy Romance

Series:  2nd book in The Weird Girls series; 0.5 Novella ~ The Weird Girls 1st Book ~ Sealed with a Curse

Recommendation:  Oooooh yes.  Pick it up!  Full of romance and action with vampires, werewolves, and demons.

Synopsis:
Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other twenty-something girls -- with one tiny exception: They are the products of a curse that backfired and gave each of them unique powers that made them, well, a little weird...

After Celia and her sisters help master vampire Misha save his family, their powers are exposed to the supernatural community of the Lake Tahoe region.  But fame comes at a price, and being "weird" isn't always welcome.

To make matters worse, Celia desires the love of Alpha werewolf Aric, but his pack is bent on destroying their relationship to preserve his pureblood status.  And once weres start turning up dead -- with evidence pointing to vampires -- she must face the prospect of losing Aric forever.  But the chaos only masks a new threat.  An evil known as the Tribe has risen -- and their sights are set on Celia and her sisters.

First Sentence:
A dead wereraccoon on your doorstep is no way to start the morning.

Purchase At:
Amazon   /   Barnes & Nobles   /   Book Depository

**I read this book for an honest review from the publisher.

My Thoughts and Summary:
Celia is trying to keep her sisters calm when a pussy wereraccoon dies on their doorstep and Taran has been having nightmares of demons.  Both werewolves and vampires want to help Celia and her sisters.  Celia and her sisters are "protected" by two supernatural enemies - a strong werewolf pack and a powerful vampire clan.  A week ago things started to heat with the kiss between Celia and Aric, then he bolted and hasn't called.  When Aric returns he brings news of a case he's now on, where human men are being killed around town.  What they find with the men...could connect all things together.  There is a new group forming and the leader has it's eyes on the magically cursed sisters.  However, Celia tries to fight her feelings for Aric while their relationship blooms into something she never suspected she would have.  But, Aric being a Pureblood and leader could cause new bumps for them.  Celia and her sisters work with Aric to solve the case, hoping to prove she's not a distraction from his duties to the Elders.  But, the case could be more than the girls can handle with what the creatures are known to do.

Cecy starts off hitting strong with current happenings and complications for the Wird sisters.  And never lets up!  The first three pages had me snagged in it's net, and I DID NOT want to get out.  By the end of first chapter - Hook, Line, Sinker.  I was a goner.  A book I didn't want to stop.  One heck of a kicking second book to a series!  Wowza!

I love Aric, love all the Weres.  Love the Sisters!  My heart beat for Celia and Aric.  I so love them and want them to be together.  And Taran!  Oh Taran.  She has her own issues with her pick of the litter.  And eventually we find out why.  *giggle*  Perfect.  And Taran with her nightmares.  They are terrible, and scare her for her families safety.  In this romance, we learn of the sisters possible destinies with them men they have chosen.

Now, in the end.  The story of the deaths was completed.  But there was something in Celia's relationship ending that left me... unsettled.  I know why we end this way.  I accept it.  But, I wanted more.  I wanted the next book to try and ease my heart a tad.  I can't wait for Cursed By Destiny to come!  January 2014 can't come fast enough.

The story!  Wow.  I was flipping pages to keep up with the demon case, the men murdered around town, and wondering on the tie to the dead wereraccoon on their doorstep.  Action packed!  I know the boys want to girls to stay safe and not in the midst of terrible actions, but dang... Those girls are kick butt!  The girls are amazing as a group.  These girls have their limits, but as a team, they can be dangerous.  Cecy is not afraid to get down and dirty with her girls in some brutal action with her romance.  Balances the scales of love and action beautifully.

When I read romance, this is what I want with it.  Everything in one neat package, and Cecy has the perfect recipe!

This Week:

I am heading out of the house with Celia, Taran, Emme, and Shayna to do some shopping, after breakfast.  Lady shopping.  Two of the four sisters have decided they need lingerie, to spice things up.  Although, it seems things are already spicy as it is...for one of them. ;)  But, you have to know the girls to understand, the cute and fun in this idea of an outing.

Cover Reveal: Cursed By Destiny

This is another MUST SHARE cover on my list.  I read the first book, Sealed with a Curse, and enjoyed it.  I'm now reading the second book, A Cursed Embrace, and LOOOVING IT!  Dang.  I'm through the first 6 chapters, and can't stop reading it.

But, when I saw this on Facebook last night, I knew I needed to share it with you all.

Are you ready?  This is the third book in Weird Girls....

Cursed By Destiny
Weird Girls #3
By:  Cecy Robson
Due Out:  January 7, 2014

Description:
Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other 20-something girls—with one tiny exception: they're products of a backfired curse that has given each of them unique powers that make them, well, weird…

Celia’s a girl in trouble.  Her heart is bound to Aric, but he is a purebloodwere who must deny her or risk condemning his species to extinction.  And that’s just her love life. She’s also been called to take down a group of demon terrorists looking to overthrow the paranormal world. (No pressure.)

In order to bring them down, Celia must ally herself to Misha, the master vampire who has made no secret of his desire for her.

And if that weren’t enough misfortune for one girl, a clairvoyant’s prediction could destroy Celia and Aric’s love for good. The only way to protect the world from unbridled supernatural terrorism is for Celia to bind herself to her destined mate. And that doesn’t appear to be Aric…

Well?  I'm still hooked by her nails! LOL! I love that with Celia.  And...could that be?  Aric in wolf?  Ooooo... Sounds like so much trouble in poor Celia's love life, and more paranormal trouble as well.  And at night, with Lake Tahoe behind them?

I soooo can't wait!!

Sealed with a Curse
Description:
Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other twenty-something girls—with one tiny exception: They're the products of a curse that backfired and gave each of them unique powers that make them, well, a little weird…

The Wird sisters are content to avoid the local vampires, werebeasts, and witches of the Lake Tahoe region—until one of them blows up a vampire in self-defense. Everyone knows vampires aren't aggressive, and killing one is punishable by death. But soon more bloodlust-fueled attacks occur, and the community wonders if the vampires of Tahoe are plague-ridden.

Celia reluctantly agrees to help Misha, the handsome leader of an infected vampire family. But Aric, the head of the werewolf pack determined to destroy Misha's family to keep the area safe, warns Celia to stay out of the fight. Caught between two hot alphas, Celia must find a way to please everyone, save everyone, and—oh, yeah—not lose her heart to the wrong guy or die a miserable death. Because now that the evil behind the plague knows who Celia is, he's coming for her and her sisters.

This Wird girl has never had it so tough.

Book Review: Sealed with a Curse

Sealed with a Curse

By:  Cecy Robson

Publisher:  Signet Eclipse

Publish Date:  December 31, 2012

Format:  eARC

Genre:  Urban Fantasy Romance

Series:  1st in Weird Girls series, 0.5: Weird Girls

Recommendation:  Oh good grief yes!  Action packed with four magical sisters and their encounters with werewolves and vampires.

Synopsis:
Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other 20-something girls - with one tiny exception: they're products of a backfired curse that has given each of them unique powers that make them, well, weird...

The Wird sisters are content to avoid the local vampires, werebeasts, and witches of the Lake Tahoe region - until one of them blows up a vampire in self-defense.  Everyone knows vampires aren't aggressive, and killing one is punishable by death.  But soon more bloodlust-fueled attacks occur, and the community wonders: are the vampires of Tahoe cursed with a plague?

Celia reluctantly agrees to help Misha, the handsome leader of an infected vampire family.  But Aric, the head of the werewolf pack determined to destroy Misha's family to keep the region safe, warns Celia to stay out of the fight.  Caught between two hot alphas, Celia must find a way to please everyone, save everyone, and oh yeah, not lose her heart to the wrong guy - or die a miserable death.  Because now that the evil behind the plague knows who Celia is, it's coming for her and her sisters.  This Wird girl has never had it so tough.

First Sentence:
The courthouse doors crashed open as I led my three sisters into the large foyer.

Purchase At:
Amazon - Print & Ebook   /   Barnes & Nobles

My Thoughts and Summary:
Trying to avoid the supernatural world Celia, who is more use to being alone, and her three sisters end up in Vampire court, charged with murder of one of Misha Aleksandr family members, to prove they were not as guilty yet to learn of a bloodlust spreading through the vampire families.  Now the Supernatural world knows of the sisters and are sneaking around for a peek, and pictures.  However Misha, the lead vampire who tried to have them killed, is now interested in the dominating Celia, but Celia may have her eye on a werewolf.  Misha's having troubles in his family.  Bloodlust.  His vampire family eats well and shouldn't be suffering from this, which means magic is involved.  He fears the upheaval of the vampire world maybe the reason - to kill him and take his power.  Misha asks Celia, having no ties to the supernatural world, for her help to fight his rival and prove his remaining family innocent and should live.  Celia sees the affects of the bloodlust on the human world and makes her choice.  Misha and his families time is limited.  The sisters jump full force into the supernatural world finding themselves in the middle of werewolves fighting for the world and vampires along with bloodlust vampires.

This book starts off strong, the girls are already in trouble - in vampire court.  Quickly we see touches of what each girl's personality is along with a hint to their individual powers even mention of toothpicks with one, to make you curious what she can do with them (serious weapons!).

Action, story, humor, magic, and blooming love all wrapped in one gift here.  So many magical variations so makes for a cool action fight.  Their is explanations of connections between werewolf and vampire weaknesses and the rules to their kinds.  Great set up with action and story blended.  Fun quick comments and using current people, places, happenings, and things to relate.  Makes me happy with all these elements present.

I suggest making this a weekend read as you're not going to want to stop!  I wanted to know if I was right on who was behind the happenings, how much more trouble Celia and her sisters would find, and if Celia got her man.

The blooming love... now, this story has two amazingly hot men and one woman.  BUT, this is not what I would call a love triangle.  Even though both are interested, she has eyes for one.  I loved this.  Now there is budding romance in the background with all the sisters as well, but I would not say this is the focus of the story.  It's an added top notch bonus to this supernatural story.

This is a definite one for a great weekend read.  Cecy has started her series with a kick start, and I CAN NOT WAIT for the next books to come out!

They sound good, don't they.  Well, they are full of paranormal and much more.  On to my thoughts of The Weird Girls...

The Weird Girls

By:  Cecy Robson

Published By:  Penguin Group

Publish Date:  December 4, 2012

Format:  ARC, 132pgs

Genre:  Urban Fantasy

Series:  0.5 in Weird Girls series

Recommendation:  Oh yes, wonderful start to bring you into a new magic filled world with four sisters stuck in it.

Synopsis:
Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other 20-something girls - with one tiny exception  they're products of a backfired curse that has given each of them unique powers that make them, well, a little weird...

The Wird sisters are different from every race on earth - human and supernatural.  When human society is no longer an option for them, they move in among the resident vampires, werebeasts, and witches of the Lake Tahoe region.  Could this be the true home they've longed for?  um, not quite.  After the sisters accidentally strip a witch of her powers in a bar brawl, they soon realize the mistake will cost them.  Because to take on a witch means to take on her coven.  And losing the battle isn't an option.

First Sentence:
Emme placed a gentle hand on my shoulder.

Purchase At:

My Thoughts and Summary:
The four sisters are celebrating finally finding a place to call home since leaving New Jersey two years ago.  Such a place found in Lake Tahoe.  Somehow trouble and men find the girls, yet Celia is feared at a glance as human's realize instinctively there's a predator inside, with fighting and upsetting one witch by breaking her power talisman.  After a phone call Celia makes to her paranormal expert friend, she learns with one witch comes a whole coven, now with their eyes out waiting for them to show in the new home area they thought would be safe.  When the witches come, Celia makes a claim and fights for her sisters against the leader of the coven.  Celia will have three challenges to face for her and her sisters to stay safe in their home.  As long as Celia can win, but at what costs?

We learn what each girl's abilities are, as a result of a backfired curse on their mother.  Boy do we learn about these four ladies!  The history details here with each and their parents, and their abilities.  I wonder how much of this will come to surface again in the first novel.  That the world, knowing or unknowingly senses it, doesn't accept weird and Celia, Taran, Shayna, and Emme are just that.  Weird.  Something that doesn't exist even in the supernatural world of vampires, werewolves, and witches.  Great setting of the characters here.

Right off the bat we start with a fight with a witch.  We see weaknesses in each girl, but they can work together to win.  As the story goes we see the strengths as well, and that they avoid the supernatural world as much as they can.  These four sister stick together and stand up for each other, protect and fight for each other.  They are all they have.  We learn how they suffered and fought through school and how people, magical or not, sense they are different and fight or torment them, or at least try too.

This novella sets the stage for these ladies as a whole and individually.  They come out kicking and swinging.

This novella is from Celia's point of view.  Celia is the eldest and is the one that goes through an ordeal with the three challenges to try and save her sisters.  There are quick sarcastic snarky remarks through the read.  It gives a feel of Celia's personality, strong and has a sense of humor that's dry and could be negative but I like this humor.  Celia's not all roses, she does have a tigeress inside after all, and I like that about her.  Being that they stay out of the supernatural world as much as possible, they don't know what to expect or do with the three challenges.  These ladies might be a product of the magical world, but they avoid it or at least try to.

There are hints of things here that I do hope and look forward to learning more about.  Like Celia and her dream man.  Sounds like there is more there than she or I know.  I would like to learn more!  There are things hinted at with each lady that I'd like to see more about.

Veeeery good novella to give you a feel of these weird ladies, where they came from and what they are capable of.  I do look forward to seeing more of this in the novels to come.
