Synopsis:
An action-thriller about a writer who takes an experimental drug that allows him to use 100 percent of his mind. As one man evolves into the perfect version of himself, forces more corrupt than he can imagine mark him for assassination. Out-of-work writer Eddie Morra's (Cooper) rejection by girlfriend Lindy (Abbie Cornish) confirms his belief that he has zero future. That all vanishes the day an old friend introduces Eddie to NZT, a designer pharmaceutical that makes him laser focused and more confident than any man alive. Now on an NZT-fueled odyssey, everything Eddie's read, heard or seen is instantly organized and available to him. As the former nobody rises to the top of the financial world, he draws the attention of business mogul Carl Van Loon (De Niro), who sees this enhanced version of Eddie as the tool to make billions. But brutal side effects jeopardize his meteoric ascent...
My Thoughts and Summary:
Eddie Morra is an author with a big blank page. His girlfriend's leaving him because he doesn't "work" and isn't getting anywhere with his novel. One day he bumps into his ex-wife, of a whole five minute marriage, on the street. But this man is known for dealing, and talks Eddie into an experimental drug he has, one that sparks the brain to work to it's full potential. But there are others looking for this drug and side affects not told to Eddie that could all ruin what he's started doing with his life.
This isn't a bad movie, but I was a little disappointed with it. Truth be told, now that I think back, I don't know what I was expecting. But this movie was on the boring side for me. We follow this man around, who becomes addicted to a drug, then makes it to the big time with money, using that to get out of a close scrap he comes across. But the time is running out, as his pills are running out. He has to figure out what he will do when he has no more of these invaluable pills.
Oh, I don't mean to make this sound like a bad movie. It isn't, but just not one for me. My husband and kid watched it as well, and didn't really think it was a memorable movie either. One that when someone mentions it, we probably won't remember we saw it.
