My Thoughts and Summary:

We pick up right where FREED left off. Phoebe and her family and friends are returning to Asgard for her trial, and Fin's. For what? Phoebe faces the goddess mother of Baldur for her part in his death. Fin faces judgement for escaping where he was held captive. Phoebe knows she did nothing wrong and definitely didn't kill Baldur. However the justice system at Asgard is very different than she was expecting. But Phoebe has influences from high powers on her side. She makes a deal that if she can bring Baldur back from Hel's side in Helheim, she and Fin will be allowed back into Asgard. But the path isn't as smooth as she hopes.

Amanda is known for writing books that keep moving forward with action. Exiled is no different. Phoebe has many obstacles to face before she gets to where she wants to be. And things don't always go as one plans or hopes.

Phoebe has some adventures with Fin, but there are many long moments she's without Fin. What I enjoy about this is she stands on her own and figures things out herself. Phoebe is growing stronger in her decisions and choices in this new world of gods and goddesses she's in. She needs to be able to function on her own, and she's learning to do just that. Phoebe retains her kindness towards others as she goes on her adventures. Well, with those who are kind to her too. There are a few new character we are introduced to. These characters are important with their individual destinies crossing with Phoebe's. You know with the gods, destiny is always a driving force and it's seen here.

Phoebe's family grows. Phoebe meets her grandmother. A formidable woman who lead the valkarie's in her time in service. Phoebe meets her father! He is like two different people - her father then the man that rules strong. But he has influences in the way of things as well. Somethings were put into motion years before Phoebe was born.

An old god appears in this book and is one Phoebe finds to be a strong adversary. Loki. Loki wants her for a very special reason. But can she out run him and complete what she needs to save herself? Then maybe she can talk to those that can help take care of Loki. And what about the three hags? They are still after her, and turning all of Asgard against her.

Phoebe's time in Helheim is very neat. I like that Hel is not as terrible a goddess as we could have seen. She's... different and seems as she's neglected or forgotten by others with her looks and being down here. Hel is tough and has to rule as she does, but Phoebe keeps working at her and at the souls down here. Oh! In mentioning the souls, there is one Phoebe gets help from. Interesting character. I really liked the connection with this soul.

At the end of the book we learn a bit about Phoebe's friend, Sam, while being in Asgard. She's a strong, fun character but there is more to her than we all suspected! You'll have to read to learn that, and I'm hoping to get all these details in book(s) to come!

I enjoyed this journey with Phoebe. Her time in Helheim was a great time. She has grown as a Valkarie and in her own abilities.

My Thoughts and Summary:

Jessica is on her fight to survive and live with those she loves. I love how she never stops trying and caring for those around her. Jessica has really collected quite the entourage of friends. All are special in their own ways and match perfectly to their mates and Jessica. Yes, everyone (well, just about) ends up paired up with a mate.

We get the fun interactions and magic all characters have to share in this book. Everyone is at their best and shows it. We even get the great fights that have been part of Jessica's stories. However, I was a little bummed at the big battle. I was expecting more. The ease of the death of one character... There was so much troubles with another of similar status, and this one was quickly dispatched. I know she was of a different origin in her area of expertise, but still that easy? I understand Jessica is being protected (for reasons I can't say - you'll just have to read!) so that keeps the scene to a limited view as well.

I love that all the characters we've crossed in previous books show up here in name and more in person. It's great to see how all the previous books trickled in to bring Jessica to this point in her life. And a great reminder of all she's been through. And all have brought Jessica to this point, all friends and actions of previous books. We read the connections to all that Jessica's been through to get to this point in her life, what has formed Jessica to be who she is. I love when these connections are made in a series, it shows how all of it was needed to be lived through.

Amanda did a wonderful job of tying all the books, events, people, and more together here to end the series. Amanda has once again created a high octane read that I didn't want to stop reading. I wanted to see/hear about everyone and learn all I could with why Jessica and how it would fit together for the new Coalition. And I got that!

In the end, we have a conclusion. But the world of supernatural is never at ease. This leaves a window opening that could bring us back to the world in the future, but this is the concluding book of the series arc.

My Thoughts and Summary:
Phoebe has to work to catch up at being a Valkyrie, so she can go find her mother. When she's ready, she stumbles across the portal to take her to where her mother's a prisoner. Junnal is all who can travel with her. But while in the realm of the dark elves, Phoebe meets new allies that can help her accomplish her goal - bring her mother home safe.

Phoebe is a strong woman. She is learning about being a Valkyrie but she also retains much of her human feelings. She's spent her life as a human and not as the hard nosed Valkyrie so she has feelings that's different than the way things are in the world of her mother's.

We spend a good bit of time with Junnal in this book. Oh, we start with Fen, Tyr, Sam, and the others but the action in the book is with Junnal. Junnal is awesome! He has benefits as to why he goes with her and not the others, and he totally is strong in a fight too. We do get to see the others once again. And meet Phoebe's birth mom.

Phoebe has to learn many things, and she does this with those she meets along with experiencing it all first hand. She meets a demi god and a white elf/mage mix in this realm. Even a dark elf/human mix. All are excellent characters to bring into the world with Phoebe. I'm thinking they all are going to have their way of helping her in the books to come as well.

One thing I noticed with Phoebe in this book, she makes lots of promises. Phoebe wants to help everyone, especially if they help her. These are a lot of promises to keep. Most of them are to help get out of this dreadful realm, but a few might be for later too. I'm wondering how much the Valkyries will take of Phoebe bringing stray people into their stronghold.

This book is hard for me to rate. It's well written and a lot happens. But Phoebe feels much like Jessica from Amanda's Jessica McClain series, just with different powers. She bravely, yet blindly, goes on her adventure coming across new friends and allies as she finds trouble. Phoebe learns about herself and becomes stronger as she faces many fights, mental and physical. These are all good things. We also know we are going to get great action and exciting secondary characters (and hot men) as the book goes along.

It's always a blast to read Amanda's writing as it's well done with the magic and world along with the action and character combinations I enjoy.

I read the book, and enjoyed it. I was thrilled to get the opportunity to listen to it as I've become a huge fan of audio books lately. And this one ranked well in my list.

Emma is new to audio for me and she did a wonderful job. I'm a huge fan of narrators doing different voices, tones, and attitudes when narrating secondary characters. Emma does that, giving each character their own voice and personality vocally, making them easy to differentiate as she narrates. My attention was drawn to the story's details when I heard a new voice come to live in the narration, drawing the world with words and voice. If Phoebe was whispering or thinking, we get a softer feel to Emma's voice, portraying the feel for us. Emma's cadence is measured so we clearly hear all the words, but the emotion in her voice brings the moment alive for us, relaying the feel of fear or anger. As the story goes we hear different emotions of Phoebe through Emma as she becomes the character. I love that she did different voices for the different creatures...demons... and more that appear in the world and talk.

I think I enjoyed the book much more in audio than reading. I got the feel of all the characters vocally along with the words written. Also the middle that seems long when reading, did not have as long of a feel to me in the audio version.

Phoebe is struck by electricity at her day job at Macy's. She's tossed into the whirlwind world of Asgard and more as the shock was sent to awaken her Valkyrie side. Phoebe comes to grips with crazy notion that the mythological gods and creatures really do exist with a first hand experience of the terrible pain they can inflict. Yet, she finds Fen who helps her at every turn when he doesn't have to. With Fen's help she returns to New York where her and Ingrid were separated, just to learn now she must find her way to the Valkyrie stronghold.

Phoebe is dropped into the dangerous mythical world of Asgard and beings of power to learn about them. Her way through it, is the rough way. By rough I mean painful and deadly. But in all the pain she suffers, she finds one person that helps her. Fenrir  the wolf. Fen, as Phoebe has taken to calling him, is trapped in a different world and those wanting Phoebe dead send demons and more after her, drawing the two closer to each other.

Fen... Mmmm. He is a hot catch! Fen sounds delicious but he's also the strength that Phoebe needs at her side too. He's old in human terms but he know much of the Asgard ways and beings. Without knowing it, he's teaching Phoebe about his world as they come across dangers.

I love that Phoebe is an honest person. She's not hiding information from Fen. Well, maybe one piece of information, but that will have to come out. Right? Even if it's not verified yet. Phoebe trusts Fen and doesn't want to lose the one person that's helped her in this crazy new world. I love how Phoebe is determined to keep her friends with her and all are to stay safe. This is a strong will that I find great in a character.

A modern day girl trying to make a living has collided with the mythical world of gods, demi-gods, demons, the hags, and many more powerful creatures. Phoebe is stronger than she ever thought, and will have to fight to not be a victim, and she's determined to do just that. A great story of Phoebe coming to her power but still needing to understand it, but she suffers along the way realizing she is more and can do much more than she thought. She comes across many things and people, but she knows she has much ahead of her to set straight the prophecy that the Norn (the three hags) will do anything to stop, including kill her.

This book is the beginning for Phoebe. She never knew of the mythical world or valkyries, demons, demigods, and more. Her eyes are opened to the world that exists parallel to the one she grew up in. We get to see, with Phoebe, the dangers present and why they want her. This story is Phoebe learning who and what she is, and accepting it to live. I'm curious to see how Phoebe grows in the books to come, now that she finally has seen the truth. I didn't feel as drawn to Phoebe in this book, but I wasn't turned off either. I liked what a saw and I'm wanting to see it grow with each book. We have a cast of characters that have their own troubles and complications that could conflict with each other, but they have knowledge and power between them that will come in handy.

The action that Amanda is known for writing is present in this book as well! There are terrible troubles at every turn that Phoebe has to face, along with decisions to make. If you enjoy Amanda's Jessica McClain series, you'll love this one too!

My Thoughts and Summary:

Something far more ancient than any Supe world has seen is after Jessica as she rushes to her father and pack to help against the Made wolves, now that she's returned from the Underworld. The one guiding the Made wolves is more than a simple priestess and wants Jessica's power. But Jessica is determined to not give up her wolf and save those in this area from the dark magic this woman possesses. Jessica has irritated one of the Hags with killing Ardat Lili in the Underworld, and she's determined to set Fate right. By killing Jessica, at any means.

The whole crew is back together! We get to have Rourke time along with seeing Jessica's little loyal pack together. It's so nice seeing them all interact with each other. We learn a detail about the adorable Danny. He's found his mate! And I love that we get some warrior woman time with Marcy as Jessica's backup. She is one power-kicking witch. Marcy is fun as she comes into her own in battles here. She has great sayings that make me smile through the rough moments of fighting. Jessica's neighbor, Juanita, plays an important part in this book. She doesn't actually appear with the crew in person but from a distance she's making a huge impact. She's more than we ever expected!

When you pick up a Jessica McClain story, expect to not breath as you read. Jessica is woman on the move and always in dire danger. She's strong and all the powers are seeking her magic. They come at her constantly and she is always on the go. Thank goodness Jessica has the strength at her side that she does.

This book is like two in one. The troubles with the Made wolves ends here. But we also face new trials for Jessica. She's always learning something new about her wolf and her powers. This time she learns about her position on the Coalition as well. Jessica also finds a new person to bring into her fold and family. Though this is where the story ends and this new person is exactly part of the family yet. We are left with knowing there are more situations that Jessica must step into. She's going to help a new person who's also a victim. Jessica still has the promise to the witches to help find Tally. And then there are the Hags...

I always enjoy Jessica's adventures. I'm one that loves the fast moving adventures with deep worlds. And Jessica gives me just that with all her action and large world of supernaturals. I will always be waiting for the next installment of Jessica and her battles to be released.

My Thoughts and Summary:
Luke and Ginger have been on the road over three weeks now, searching and chasing her brother. Ginger feels they have Damien with his back against the wall in this cave, and he's got one end game. Luke is now on the Sin City payroll, his application accepted when he left with Ginger. Ginger is physically slowing, hiding it from Luke because she hasn't "feed" in over six months. She has to be careful not to touch the attractive Luke. She's falling for him and he for her. However Lukes past with incubi is not a pleasant memory. At all. They both will face pasts they don't want too, and accept it as a past and those people are not the view of a whole race's or the world's. But they will have to accept it before it kills them.

Ginger is organized and resourceful. She has to be to have created such a detailed underground network in buying/selling information. However, Ginger has a flaw. Ginger doesn't like what she is or how she has to survive. She knows her brother doesn't either... or does she? She's a succubus. Ginger is a nice addition to the variety of a world we have here.

Luke... hmm. What to say about Luke? I liked him the best here. He's calm and collected. He is also determined and knows what he likes and wants. He's the calm and patient man that Ginger needs. Luke does seem like the perfect man in all aspects here. (When we get from Gingers POV, and even thoughts of his own when we see his POV.) He's strong and organized too.

The story is these two working through what they have grown up thinking to come to a point where they can accept themselves and maybe each other. Before it's to late. Oh Damien. Grrr. We get to see him face to face as well, if only for a minute. What a... well, after the ending of Ante Up, we catch up with him.

Oh! We meet a new character here. And we have to be seeing him in the future. I am curious and would like to see him.

I've mentioned the end of Ante Up. Do you have to read it before this story? No, you don't. There is a connection but the story does not rely on it and doesn't even tell of the same couple. Each story is a different couple, so you can read at any order you'd like. But if you want to read in time order, then yes.

This story was a lovely one to relax with. And to read Ginger describe how succubi see nature, wow. This story is lovely for me. Ginger, for whatever reason, didn't seem to catch me like the others. The characters both seem rather calm, and I seem to be entranced with hot headed characters. lol. But these two work well together. A perfect match in Luke and Ginger.

My Thoughts and Summary:
Jessica is preparing with Tally for her trip to the Underworld to save her brother, Tyler. While trying to learn to harness and eject demon magic from in the protective circle the witches have, Jessica inadvertently activates the doorway to the Underworld. Jessica finds herself in the hollows of the Underworld, all alone. The Demon essence becomes a part of her and she has to learn how to use it. And stay alive in the Underworld that's looking for her. Jessica finds a few unlikely allies while here. Jessica and her wolf are on their toes with where they are, but is it enough to keep her and her brother alive?

Holy Underworld! The plane Amanda has created here is outstanding! There is always something different and new to this land of the Underworld. It's what you expect and soooo much more! The creatures here, the setting and how they live. Wow. I am amazed at Amanda with creating something new in each book. The world is growing to a huge, endless circle here. There are creatures we've seen before and new ones we've not heard of. Boy, do we get a front view of the Underworld.

We meet new characters, and those we have known for some time. Those that we are friend with are here. I will say that half of the book is Jessica alone, then the last half is with our friends. But with Jessica being alone we meet new associates who could make a difference in the world.

If you've read the series thus far, you are probably asking about Selene. Yes, Selene is here. She did go to the Underworld in that book as we saw. And what you see here will baffle you. You will be shocked with what happens. I know I was, and my feelings even...dare I say...softened? You will understand as you read.

I love that Jessica and her wolf are so strong. That Jessica can be a character of her own and stand on her own. Her strength and ability to adapt and learn where ever she is, is amazing and what the story is all about. You learn more of her purpose in the world, the Lycan is here for a reason.

This story has romantic elements, but it's Jessica's story. She has been and continues to be determined and independent. She loves Rourke, but he doesn't define who she is. She will do anything for him and tries to compromise but she is strong willed as well. This is what I love with Jessica, she doesn't rate herself based on the man she's with. She stands on her own two feet (or four if needed). Though, she loves having him with her through everything and thinks of him when not.

Once again, Amanda leaves us at the end knowing there is another phase to Jessica's ongoing adventures. I can't wait to learn more! And at the ending, I wanted to flip more pages to learn about 'her'!

If you are a Jessica fan, you will love this book. On to the adventures Jessica will lead us barreling into.

First Sentence:
"You want me to do what?" Diesel Jones sat across from Jake's uncle, Louie Fiore, and scratched his head.

My Thoughts and Summary:
Diesel Jones has his chance to be one of the SCC (Sin City Collectors). But first he must complete this trial run job. The catch, to bring in an incubus (which he hates as a whole species) and on the night of the month he struggles to not lose control to his wolf - the night of the full moon. The mission leads Diesel to the doorstep of the sexy new witch in town, that he's starting to fall for, Sofia. The mission brings Diesel closer to Sofia as it seems she's his help in succeeding on his assignment, and more.

I had loved meeting Diesel, briefly, in Aces Wild as the bartender at Jake's bar and was thrilled to hear he was getting his story here. Diesel and a wolf shifter and he's found he's attracted to a new witch in town, Sofia. What Diesel isn't ready to see is that Sofia is just as attracted to him. But it does come to light when an incubus in involved.

Diesel has...issues with the full moons. And this assignment is taking place over the three day cycle of the full moon. It's a test to see if he can control himself. If he can and can complete the mission, he'll get his official papers as a SCC. We learn a great deal of Diesel's past, and the reason he's the way he is at the full moons. Interesting the details we get. Then we have Sofia. Sofia is still a touch of a mystery to us, yet we learn some secrets of hers as well.

Since the story is set in the same world as the other novellas we get to see previous characters again, and they help Diesel with his mission, of SCC manner and of personal vendetta.

Amanda once again blends all the elements into one story like the masterful writer she is. She has a big Urban Fantasy world that doesn't feel as it's overwhelming with action and love happening at the same time. A full story for the main characters. One thing here, I do get a feel for who the next story is going to be for. It's not the usual Amanda Carlson ending, but you have a feel for who is next.

My Thoughts and Summary:
Nevada is a Sin City Collector (SCC) and has received her next Collection from her boss in way of a playing card with images on it to direct her. She must bring in the supernatural to her boss for discipline as the powers that be judge. Neve's next Collection is - a vampire. Neve doesn't collect vampires. Being half vampire herself, and half human, making her Dhampire she knows their tricks. The only job where the supe got away from her, her first that almost ended her career before starting, was a vampire. She hasn't taken another since, but Collectors don't pick or dictate their cases. To top off the terrible job, she's to partner up. And of the hundreds of Collectors, to be with him. Jake can't believe his luck when he receives his playing card dictating his next job. To be partnered with her. Their past together will get some answers, although they may not be what Nevada wants to learn about herself.

Collectors don't usually partner for jobs. For this case, Nevada is required to do so. Nevada thinks it's in reference to her first case, and experience with a vampire, but it might be for more reasons than she's aware of.

There is a past between Nevada and Jake. I like that with being a novella length there is a history to build on. And boy do these two build on that past. Neve hasn't been taught in the vampire, or dhampire, ways so she doesn't know what comes over her when she's near Jake. But it's not right, and she fights it with all her being. The attraction from the one night three years ago burns fresh in both, however neither knows the other feels so strongly.

When Neve lets herself go with Jake, Oh MY! Nevada reels herself in and realizes she needs to talk to one of her kind to learn more about them and herself. He reactions to Jake are far more than she bargained for And she has a Collection to perform!

Action with just the right dash of romance and feisty personality.

Amanda is a master in creating depth in her worlds and characters. This novella holds true to Amanda's growing, glowing reputation. Characters that clash yet accent each other, perfect blend. And a world that doesn't stop!

I'm already a fan of Amanda's Urban fantasy series, and this story and world is right up there with it. I'll be waiting for more Sin City from Amanda and all the authors playing in this world.

An explosion hits the parking lot - a spell from the Sorcerers sent for Jessica.  On the run yet bond to find her missing best friend, Jessica heads to the heart of the witches coven, with the most powerful witch in the country - Tallulah (Tally) Talbot.  What Jessica learns there sends her on her run to help her father.  Tally has an oracle that sees Jessica and her family and friends - good news and bad news.  Away Jessica goes, hoping for the safety of her best friend Marcy and James and to help her father, while the Sorcerers and Demons follow on her tale working together to find her.  Every Sect is after her.  Jessica runs head first into the Vampires, who want her for their own reasons, looking to barter for protection.

An explosive set of happenings, from action to love, all in one place here!  Each page is full of new information and action.  Jessica is one of a kind, in more ways than one, and draws people of all Sects to her - in one way or another.

We start EXACTLY where Hot Blooded ended!  With Jessica and Tally at Jessica's office, yet in the bushes now.  So much happening here!  But well organized and all is handled by Jessica as she goes.  Much from the first two books lead to here.

Jessica's been having it rough.  Supes are out to get her, attacking her at about ever turn.  And it's taking all she has to not run off to find and save Rourke, but she knows she has to be prepared and get information first.  There are rumors flying of Jessica and what she is and what she'll do.  Each has more information about the prophecy.  And maybe Jessica is what it says...maybe not?

The supernatural world is all shaken up.  Sects are teaming up with each other, the one thing the DO NOT do, all because of Jessica.  Jessica's group is together because of her.  Others are teaming up, to stop her.  The supernatural world is changing.  Including wolves as someone is messing with them.

We have all our favorite characters once again.  We see them all!  Rourke is just plain amazing.  Wow.  Do he and Jessica finally get their moment?  Well, you'll have to read to see. *giggle*  We still have Tyler and Danny at Jessica's side helping her, along with her mate Rourke.  We have Naomi and Ray as well.  Oh, what we see of Ray.  There is something different about him, Naomi can't control him.  But just wait until you see what happens to/with him.  Yep.  You have to read for Ray.  So, we've been waiting to learn more of Rourke.  What he is, and oh so much more.  Yep.  YOU HAVE TO READ THIS ONE!  Everything we wanted, and much more, from Rourke.

You HAVE to read this series in order.  You don't have to read the Novella, but why not?  It's one of the BEST novella's I've ever read, and I read lots.  The ending is a touch of a hanger.  The story line of this book ends, but there is new adventures started at the end of this one.  Amanda knows how to hook her readers and make them salivate for the next.

This series is high octane.  If you love action packed, fast paced, heart thumping Urban Fantasy reads, this one NEEDS to be the TOP of your list.  ASAP!  There is even a touch of romance as a bonus.  I don't know if I've mentioned it enough in this review (sarcasm) but you need this one. ;)
