Top 5 List of Urban Fantasy books

...I've reviewed for July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012.

I started this last year with my blogging celebration and really enjoyed doing it, and it's easier to do it at this time of year rather than end of year with all going on.

And I always ask a fellow blogger to join in on the post as well, so we get a variety of books, or double whammed on amazing books too. lol. (that's happened, Really!)

My list for the last year:
These are in no particular order as I LOVED them all!

Magic Strikes by Ilona Andrews - Okay, thanks to the group of people who guilt-ed me into reading this one sooner than I planned, and THANK YOU ALL!  This one is my favorite of the amazing series for the arena fighting and the connections that finally happen.  If you tried and didn't get any further than the first book, pick up the next as they do get greatly better as you go.

Lineage by Skyla Dawn Cameron - As you all know I'm HOOKED on this series.  I can't stop reading it!  But this was the one where we meet Peri, a suicidal quarter-demon assassin.  That's a mouthful, but she makes leaps and bounds as a character here.  And more is learned about the demons and Oblivion.

Spectyr by Philippa Ballantine - This is a book that feels to have a blend for Urban Fantasy lovers and Fantasy lovers too.  If you ride that fence, like I do, this is a find.  I Love Pips writing style, and learning more of Merrick here.  This is the second book, but enjoying the series as a whole as well.

Aftermath by Ann Aguirre - This whole series is amazing!  It's on the science fiction side, but since I don't have that category and want to mention this, it's going here.  She is a special character with jumping through space by her genes, so I say UF. lol.  This book reopens the ride of emotions we've been on through the series.  I felt the shift with the characters by now, and the world as well.  Well worth the read.

Fate of the Fallen by Sharron Riddle - This book has stuck in my mind since I finished it.  I enjoyed the mystery of the tale and the blend of mythology with the creatures of UF reads.  And there is action, snark, and more.  I just was sucked in and can't forget about it.

My Guest this year is:
Melliane from Between Dreams and Reality
She is one of the two reviewers on Between Dreams and Reality who review in English and French!  AMAZING!  Such a kind person, and she has great taste in Urban Fantasy reads.  She is one that adds to my Want List weekly, and makes me want to get to a few series I have sitting here already.  Please take a moment when you are done to stop by and say hello to Melliane and Inessa after you check out Melliane's kicker list.

Now to Melliane's Top 5 Urban Fantasy books for the last year...

1-Shaedes of Gray by Amanda Bonilla: I love the two books of the series; if I had to choose one series for this year, I think it would be this one.

2- Magic Slays by Ilona Andrews: Ah Kate Daniels, I still don’t understand why this series doesn’t really work in France. I’m in love with Curran and Kate is so awesome!

3- An Artificial Night by Seanan Mcguire: I was a little mixed after the first book but who would have thought that the series would be so amazing after.

4- The Restorer by Amanda Stevens: It’s an intriguing dark series with ghosts, evil and so many other things.

5- Grave Dead Ahead by Darynda Jones: Well this one is a fun book. Charley can easily make you smile, and well there is Reyes, you need to meet him!

  19. I also love Darynda Jones, Seanan McGuire and Ann Aguirre. Some of the others are in the TBR. I really disliked the heroine in Blood Before Sunrise -- she seemed so caught up in her own self image that she couldn't see the obvious.
