Monday's Beginnings (151)

And it's another Monday...

First, sorry, no more vlogging.  My laptop decided it was going to be mean to me and not like me any more last Monday.  So, this made for a rough week for me last week as I didn't have a computer to visit everyone.  I did use the dinosaur we have upstairs, but it moves so slow it's hard to do anything with it.  So, until the laptop is fixed, by my dear friend and my tech miracle worker, or I save money to buy a camera I won't be able to vlog.  But I'm sure you all won't mind.

Now as for last week, yes I was not able to visit much.  Sorry.  But, the good news is I now have a new (well, a built but new to me) computer with dual screens.  Yes, you heard me DUAL SCREENS!!  My awesome friend built it and hooked me up!  I'm excited and can't wait to get going on it.  He just got it all working for me last night.  So I should be cruising this week with ease....I hope.

Other than that, lets get to the book goodies...

Just a heads up, hope you saw the button on my top left sidebar...I'll be celebrating my 3 year blogging birthday the week of July 22nd thru July 31st!  I hope you plan on stopping by, I have top lists with guests and their lists, and I'm thinking a few giveaways are in order as well.  Just a thought. :)

Freebies and Deals, on Nook too (17)

I did not do my Flash Fiction Friday last week.  Without a computer, which I was thinking I was getting set up sooner, it was hard to get to it.  I do have ideas, and if I can get to it tonight I'll post it here tonight.  We shall see.

My Want List...okay, so with the darn computer troubles I wasn't really around to add much to the list.  But I did manage to add 3...at least.

Received Last Week:
Purchased:
I broke down and got this one on the Nook.  For the deal they were running on it and I loved the fun sounds of it...well I had to get it.
Geekomancy by Michael R. Underwood
Goodreads Synopsis:
Ree Reyes’ life was easier when she just had to worry about scraping together tips from her gig as a barista-and-comicshop slave wage in the port city of Pearson to pursue her ambitions as a screenwriter.

When a scruffy-looking guy storms into the shop looking for a comic like his life depends on it, Ree writes it off as just another day in the land of the geeks. Until a gigantic ‘BOOM!’ echoes from the alley a minute later, and Ree follows the rabbit hole into Pearson’s magical flip-side. Here, astral cowboy hackers fight trolls, rubber-suited werewolves and Elegant Gothic Lolita fate witches by channeling genre tropes and wielding nostalgia-powered props.

Ree joins Eastwood (aka scruffy guy), investigating a mysterious string of teen suicides as she tries to avoid imploding after her own drag-your-heart-through-jagged-glass breakup. But as she digs deeper, Ree discovers Eastwood may not be the knight-in-cardboard-armor she thought. Will Ree be able to stop the suicides, save Eastwood from himself, and somehow keep her job?

This one I purchased for my own benefits.  I suck at grammar so thought I might want to learn more about it...
The Elements of Style
Goodreads Synopsis:
The hardcover version of the most indispensable writing resource features a new Glossary of grammatical terms; includes a new Foreword by Charles Osgood; and retains the classic principles of English style.

Gifted:
If you stopped by my review of Mina Wentworth and the Invisible City by Meljean Brook, you know I read the novella's as a test read.  As a thank you for taking the time to do that, Meljean sent the three books of the series.
The Iron Duke by Meljean Brook

After the Iron Duke freed England from Horde control, he instantly became a national hero. Now Rhys Trahaearn has built a merchant empire on the power-and fear-of his name. And when a dead body is dropped from an airship onto his doorstep, bringing Detective Inspector Mina Wentworth into his dangerous world, he intends to make her his next possession.

But when Mina uncovers the victim's identity, she stumbles upon a conspiracy that threatens the lives of everyone in England. To save them, Mina and Rhys must race across zombie-infested wastelands and treacherous oceans-and Mina discovers the danger is not only to her countrymen, as she finds herself tempted to give up everything to the Iron Duke.

Burning Up by Angela Knight, Nalini Singh, Virginia Kantra, Meljean Brook
Goodreads Synopsis:
Passion runs as hot as a fever dream in these all-new stories by four New York Times bestselling provocateurs of the paranormal...

In Angela Knights's Blood and Roses, a vampire warrior and his seductive captor join forces to stop a traitor from unleashing an army of demonic predators on their kingdom.

New in Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series is Whisper of Sin, in which a woman in lethal danger finds an unlikely protector- and lover- in a volatile member of the DarkRiver pack.

Virginia Kantra continues the haunting tales of the Children of the Sea inShifting Sea, the story of a wounded soldier rescued by a strange and enigmatic young woman.

Meljean Brook launches a bold new steampunk series with Here There Be Monsters, as a desperate woman strikes provocative- and terrifying- bargain to gain overseas passage.

Heart of Steel by Meljean Brook
Goodreads Synopsis:
The Iron Duke introduced the gritty, alluring adventure of the Iron Seas. Now, Meljean Brook returns to the world where nanotech fuses with Victorian sensibilities—and steam.

As the mercenary captain of Lady Corsair, Yasmeen has learned to keep her heart as cold as steel, her only loyalty bound to her ship and her crew. So when a man who once tried to seize her airship returns from the dead, Yasmeen will be damned if she gives him another opportunity to take control.

Treasure hunter Archimedes Fox isn't interested in Lady Corsair—he wants her coldhearted captain and the valuable da Vinci sketch she stole from him. To reclaim it, Archimedes is determined to seduce the stubborn woman who once tossed him to a ravenous pack of zombies, but she's no easy conquest.

When da Vinci's sketch attracts a dangerous amount of attention, Yasmeen and Archimedes journey to Horde-occupied Morocco—and straight into their enemy's hands. But as they fight to save themselves and a city on the brink of rebellion, the greatest peril Yasmeen faces is from the man who seeks to melt her icy heart.

So, that was my crazy week last week.  How was yours?  Hope it went a sight better than mine.

Here's wishing you all the best in words and pages.
