Teaser Tuesdays (8)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly event.Sponsored by MizB of Should be Reading.

(I am rotating from Teaser Tuesday and Where are you? on Tuesdays. This week is the teaser.)

Here's how it works:

Grab the book you are currently reading (anything at all)
Open the book to any random pageShare 2 "teaser" sentences from anywhere on the page.
Please Make Sure They Are Not Spoilers!(Don't Give Too Much Away)
Just enough to pique our interests.
List the book and author so other participants can get their hand on it if they choose to read it as well.

This Week:

Later that day, another tribute is killed in combat and a third gets eaten by a pack of those fluffy squirrels, leaving Haymitch and a girl from District 1 to vie for the crown.

Catching Fire

By Suzanne Collins

This is page 201. This is a teaser for me as well being I have not got this far in the book. I think they may be viewing past games, the one in which Katniss's mentor won 25 years ago since this is the Quarter Quell.

  2. I hope my demise doesn't come in the form of fluffy squirrels! I'm so anxious to read this and Hunger Games, but it'll be a while yet before I have time.

  5. I just read this one! It's a good one.

  7. I know, I have been dying to read this series, and I just can't make it there...lol. I think it has something to do with the price of the books!

  8. I bought The Hunger Games a little while back but haven't gotten around to reading it yet due to my GIANT TBR pile. I'm can't wait until I actually get to read it. I've heard such great things about it and Catching Fire. Thanks for the teaser!

  9. Hello everyone! Glad to see you all stopped by!

Krista - we should start checking in with each other when we are reading books like this so we don't post the same ones. lol.

Jackie - I was thinking the same thing about the fluffy squirrels. I will never look at another squirrel the same way again. I think you will really enjoy both books when you get to them.

La Coccinelle - This was the first line my eyes went to on the page when I flipped through the book. I had to read it twice to make sure I read it right. These squirrels sound down right nasty.

Jessica - Great to see you stopped by. I think everyone would love these books. I would love to read what you think of them when you get to them.

Michelle - I had to force myself to stop reading tonight. I don't want to stop. I want to call off work and huddle up with a blanket and keep reading to get it done. I love it so far. That is a shame you can't give anything else away on the teaser. I am curious about the book. I am looking forward to your review then I will most likely put it on the list to read.

Cat (Minding the Middle) - Great to see you. Glad you stopped by! I hope to see you around more in the future. I hope you get to start it soon. I love talking about the books. I look forward to hear what you think of the book as well.

ParaJunkee - The price is a little much for me at first but when I read it I was really surprised I was not disappointed in the price after all. I wonder if they are coming out with paperback soon? That would be nice maybe more people would buy that. I hope you get to get to them some time they are really worth reading.

NatalieRenae - Thanks for stopping by! I understand the giant tbr pile myself, (and it keeps growing). I don't think you will be let down when you get to them. I look forward to reading your review as well when you do finally get to them.

    Thanks everyone for stopping by!

    Happy Reading!

  11. Of all the ways I could ever think to die, being eaten by squirrels never even occured to me. Now I have had nightmares of being eating by hedgehogs and koala bears, but not squirrels.

  12. Sheila - Congrats of your win! I entered in that contest too and was waiting to see how won before I bought mine. The first one is Hunger Games. You could probably read this one first but I would read Hunger Games first. The connection with the characters is really made there and carried through here.

Ryan - I know the thought. I never thought of squirrels this way, I have thought of the birds. I have heard koala bears are pretty mean themselves, even though they look so cuddly. I will not look at squirrels the same again. lol.

  13. Hi Melissa - I came here in response to your comment on Petty Witter's blog where she posted about the discussion on my blog... The point I was trying to make was not about paying authors. Authors receive an advance if they are with a reputable publisher. I was trying to highlight the plight of publishers. They need to recoup their outlay and make a profit so they can continue publishing books. I hope you visit my blog and read my actual post and leave a comment. You'll be a very welcome visitor!

  14. Hello Leigh! Thank you for stopping by. I am going to stop by your site here later today when I am on lunch so I can take more time to read and respond on your blog. I have been hearing about the publishing companies as well. I will stop by and leave a comment.

  15. NICE. I loved this book, and the quote you picked is pitch perfect. Violence plus a bit of absurdity (fluffy squirrels!). Great teaser!

Thanks for coming by my blog!
