Synopsis:
Spencer Aimes is just your average, undercover, government-hired super-assassin accustomed to a life of exotic European locales, flashy sports cars and even flashier women. But when he meets Jen Kornfeldt, a beautiful, fun-loving computer tech recovering from a bad break-up, he finds true love...and happily trades international intrigue for domestic bliss. Three years later, Spencer and Jen are still enjoying a picture-perfect marriage - that is, until the morning after Spencer's 30th birthday. That's when Spencer and Jen learn he's the target of a multi-million dollar hit. Even worse, the hired killers have been stalking the happy couple for years, and could be anyone: friends, neighbors, the grocery store clerk, even that crabby old guy shuffling across the street. Now Spencer and Jen are on the run for their lives. As their suburban paradise turns into a paranoid game of dodge-the-bullet...
My Thoughts and Summary:
Jen goes on vacation with her parents, to Nice, after a heartbreaking breakup with her boyfriend. Spencer is in Nice on a job, to remove someone. These two cross paths and spark interest. They fall for each other. Spencer wants the simple life of neighbors and normal life. Three years passes and they life the happy normal life, until Spencer learns he has a high priced hit on his head. All the people he thought to be friends, could very well turn out to be one of many trying to collect on the bounty.
I really enjoyed this one. Maybe it was just the right themed movie at the right time, but I laughed and enjoyed it. This had a light feel to the humor and action, but had action and mystery to it. It was just so much fun for me!
There was quite the cast in this movie, which makes me surprised I had not heard of it before. Aston Kutcher plays Spencer. Katherine Heigle plays Jen, the daughter and wife to Spencer. Tom Selleck is Jen's protective dad. Katherine O'Hara is Jen's mother who always has some sort of alcoholic drink in her hand, at any time of day, and fun as she has a carefree feel to her.
My husband enjoyed it as well. He compared it to Mr. & Mrs. Smith, saying it's similar in storyline. I will say it's about assassins and one of the couple is, or was, one. But this movie was much lighter in feel and I really liked that. More humor lased the action and story line.
I don't have much to say as I just really enjoyed it! Humor intertwined with action and mystery and a touch of romance.
