Sunday Post #39

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share new about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

~~~~~~~~~~
Another week has passed us by. Hope those returning to a full week of work had a good one. And for anyone in the north that experienced the Polar Vortex, hope you stayed safe and warm. We did, and it was an experience with the temperatures that fridg-ed!
No, I didn't get any days off with kiddo and the cold. But the office was chilly. So I'm still behind in my works, but I'm starting to think that is a normal thing for me anymore. lol.
The weekend is over half way over and I could go for more. I took the last few days of the week to try and write instead of worrying about reading. Ha! That's funny. I didn't get any further than I normally do.
BUT!!! I'm going to be entering in a 500 word short with Start Publishing. They are going to have open voting for the best 5 shorts they get. There's no guarantee I'll be in the top 5, but I hope you check them out when they are posted. And if I do make the top 5... well, I'll let ya know. ;)
Review:
The World Below by Mike Phillips  (When I have time!)
Goodreads Synopsis:
In ancient times, magical creatures inhabited the earth. They lived on mountaintops, in trees, at the bottom of lakes and rivers. But that was long ago, before the human race declared war on the creatures they feared and hated. Now the enchanted peoples are all but gone. Those few that remain fear being stretched out on an examination table in some secret, governmental facility. The only place they can hide from the ever increasing number of satellites and smart phones is in the World Below.
Mitch Hardy is going through a hard time in his life. In his early twenties, he was working his way through college when he suffered an accident that left him flat broke and physically deformed. When Mitch decides to make a fresh start in a new town, things start looking up. He finds a place to live, a decent job, good friends. He even meets a nice girl. Unknown to Mitch, his new girlfriend is one of the Elder Race, what some call the Faerie Folk. Mitch doesn’t know that Elizabeth is looking for a father she never knew. The key to finding him is somehow tied up with the mysterious Blade of Caro. Desperate, she steals the Blade from its protector, the despotic ruler of the World Below, the Dragon of Worms, Baron Finkbeiner. When Elizabeth is kidnapped by the Baron, Mitch is pulled into a world or magic and monsters he never imagined.
Free Ebooks:
Hope's Decree by Angela McPherson
Goodreads Synopsis:
When everything else is lost, there is always hope.
While most teens want an epic senior year, Trinity Whitebone hoped for a normal one. Being seventeen was hard enough. Having the emotions of everyone around you in your head made life more than a little difficult.
Until Blain Heros enrolled.
He screamed hot-god in jeans with just his walk. His intense stare warmed her skin like a thousand suns. Unfortunately, his interest in her seemed to run from blazing to freezing in the span of moments and left her nothing but confused. She could deal with things not being normal, but when life goes from strange to dangerous…
Trinity is the direct descendant of Pandora and fated to rectify the terrors released into the world by her curious ancestor. With powers she didn’t know existed and abilities she never wanted, Trinity tries to walk away from everything her life had become. She thought she could turn her back on her fate, until a band of rogue immortals discover who she is and will do whatever it takes to control her powers. Trinity is left with one decision…Embrace fate or die trying.
