Some shared info. of and Falling, fly and author Skyler White

As many of you have seen I am currently reading and Falling, Fly by Skyler White.  I am hoping to be done with the book and prepare my review tomorrow night, but in the mean time I wanted to share with you some information on Skyler and her book.

Skyler was a child of two college professors, she then left high school to find a career in ballet.  Skyler has a master's degree in theater and work experience in advertising.  She has also received awards as a stage director and has really appeared on reality TV.  Skyler has an MA in dramatic theory and literary critcism.  Skyler is now a Texan resident, married to an inventor, and mother to two children, along with being an author.

Two items I found very interesting, and seem to have had a large impact in helping in this story; 1.) she teaches workshops on myth 2.) she actively follows the developments in the neuroscience community.

and Falling, fly is the first book in The Harrowing series.  These stories are set in a parallel world of mythological damnation and combining romance with urban fantasy.  The second book is In Dreams Begin which is about an Irish poet ~W.B. Yeats, Victorian freedom-fighter ~Maud Gonne, and the Golden Dawn occult movement.  In Dreams Begin will be out in December 2010.

I was interested to learn from Skylers website as to why she wrote the story and Falling, fly:
"I wrote Falling because I wanted to tangle with Desire – with what it means to want and not get, with what turns desire into craving or addiction, and what takes it away. My research ranged from feminist accounts of female sexuality to scientific abstracts on the neurochemistry of attraction. Writing it changed the way I think about myself, my body, and my brain.

I wrote it because I needed to meet Olivia. Because I was interested in the difference between wanting and being wanted, Olivia can only feed on people who desire or fear her. Because I struggle with body image, she’s a shape-shifter. Because she let me wrestle with these things through her, she is an angel. And she’s still kicking my ass."
